    Little different as I’m currently recovering from an ED, but:
    I didn’t eat my dads wedding cake, I left my girlfriends birthday early to avoid the dinner, and hid muffins my grandma made for me in my sleeves. I regret it all beyond what words can describe now. Cooking is a love language and my own fears pushed that love away. I’m not fully there yet, but that regret keeps me from wanting to feel like this again. Life is too short and love is too precious to be like that again
    edited:
    hello again! life got better :) I have my final appointment next week at an outpatient service, and am pleased to say my friends made me some incredible peanut butter cups for my birthday - which i enjoyed!
    My mind is not always better, and it is not always easy.
    Yesterday was a particularly hard day, and seeing this comment and all your replies reminded me why I am choosing this instead. I hope all of you continue to choose it with me :)
    Life is always about balance, and I feel more balanced now.
    Hope you are all doing well! Much love

      This... I think these "health" content creators also forget that mental health is also a component to consider when developing a "healthy" or "healthier" diet. Completely cutting out any "added sugar" is a very restrictive and unsustainable diet, can make you feel guilty and miserable for eating foods you like, make you feel left out, and is especially dangerous for people prone to EDs. Thank you for sharing your story.

    Moderation is key. You can maintain a healthy diet and still enjoy sweet and sugary things, just in small quantities once or twice a month and you'll be good. You can have a bite or two to satisfy the craving and that's enough. Or at least that's what worked for me.

    I once thought that was sugar free for more than a month. But I had to face an ugly truth when I found out that most of restaurant foods and even healthy products have sugar in it 😭 EVEN RICE! So, the only way to avoid sugar is to know the composition of the product and to cook yourself all the time🥲

    I get the sentiment of enjoying life. But Imma keep going with the no added sugar till I die expect for special occasions. I'd rather live longer. After going so long without it, I got used to it and can do just fine without. I never really had much of a sweet tooth to start with though, so that helps. We only get one body. To each their own though :)

    Remember that once a behavior becomes a need, It is no longer healthy for you mentally and you should seek support. So many different eating disorders start with a “diet”
    Not saying diets are evil, I am just putting a warning as someone who has dealt with eating disorders for a few years
    Stay safe ❤

    Facts. I used to consume a scary amount of sugar. It was at the point I was concerned for my health and my teeth at age 15. I started cutting out sugar slowly. Adding less sugar to hot drinks and cereals until I got to the point where I wasn't adding any and was actually enjoying the meal. But I would still have added sugar now and again by having a mcflurry here and there. Sadly I'm back at the starting point 😅

    I completely agree, I started with clean keto for 3 months and now I've been doing dirty keto for the past 2 months. Clean keto was hard to sustain but dirty keto made me feel like I can do low carb lifestyle for the rest of my life while still indulging in sweets every once in a while. The plus from the past half a year of doing keto and low carb was that I don't get any sugar cravings. I see cake or desserts and don't feel anything. I also started to hate pasta and rice because I'll get mildly nauseous for an hour if I eat them which further helped reinforce my low carb lifestyle. My skins good, I feel good, and I healed my relationship with food through the process. I don't feel guilty if I do indulge, because I don't binge eat anymore, and I also understand that low carb lifestyle is a long term thing for me, so the long term cancels out the days where I do have fun with sweet foods :)

    Life is too short not to have your favorite food and drinks, but your life might be shorter if you have too much of them, assuming they’re not healthy to have a lot of. I’m trying to have less sugar and dairy.It’s a struggle and I’m addicted, and it’s a slow process.I’m trying to learn to not have it, so that later I can enjoy it once in a while without being addicted.Coffee and boba drinks are my addiction right now, and I really want to lose more weight.

    Once you start cutting it back it became easier. Now chocolates and packaged drinks taste too sweet for my liking. But i still consume sugar in a healthy amount. Like when i eat something very sweet like cakes, i balance it out with unsweetened tea or coffee.
    Sweets and sugary products sold in supermarkets has way too much sugar for your own good. Even if we're not talking about weight loss or diet, please consider the risk of diabetes

    I only eat sugar when it matters now. Like birthday cakes, or when it's been awhile since I had my favourite pie, or when I get my occassional boba and ice cream. The rest I try without sugar or I use stevia (usually for cooking savoury food, or for my tea when I go too long without something sweet and want it but dont feel like eating cake, or diet coke).

    I'm 24 and my entire life has been a repetitive endless battle with sugar which has always ended up in failure. Now I have come to the conclusion that it's awfully impossible in this world to live sugar free since everything has sugar. When I eat dessert now I have to restrict the entire day cuz sugar takes up a lot of calories and it doesn't leave room for more so everything is a sacrifice for me.

    • @pandapanda246

      Try to focus on nutrient density instead of calories. If you eat more nutritious food it's much easier for the body to process calories, so you'll be healthier in weight and overall despite sugar!

    • @mmmmmmmmaria
      @mmmmmmmmaria ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pandapanda246 CICO will always be factual and nothing will let you “process more calories” or “process calories” in a way that lets you overindulge with no consequences. but making sure to only have sugar after nutrient dense lower calorie & lower carb meals of lean protein, vegetables and healthy fat will help you control cravings much better

    • @Sofia-gk9sn
      @Sofia-gk9sn ปีที่แล้ว +2

      please don’t focus on calories and restricting them. it’s not a healthy mindset to have with food. I ended up developing an ED because of it and working through that is so so incredibly difficult and not worth it. If you’re wanting to improve shape/ become fitter/ healthier focus on working out and eating EVERYTHING as in all food groups, cutting out sugar won’t solve ur problems and restricting only makes you feel uncomfortable, hungry and hyper focused on food. Please work on your relationship with food and stop counting calories❤️

    • @pandapanda246
      @pandapanda246 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mmmmmmmmaria yeah thats not what i meant. I realise I did not express that well, but I didn't say it let's you process more calories, I said it let's you process better. Digestive strength and metabolic health do depend on nutrient density of food because the body needs nutrients to make Enzymes, antioxidants, regulate hormones, blood sugar, pretty much everything. I did not want to endorse overindulging in sugar, ever. Too much sugar is always harmful. What I was trying to say is that a person that eats nutrient dense food is healthier than a person who eats food low in nutrients independent of sugar intake so nutrients should be prioritised over calories. It's better to eat 100 calories worth of pumpkin puree than a hundred calories worth of candy. Even 20g of sugar in Pumpkin is the better option than 20g of sugar in candy because it comes with a bunch of fiber, vitamins, minerals etc
