One correction though. You said that Corphish losing to Politoed was Ash’s first loss to Misty. Actually, Ash lost to her back during the Whirl Cup in Johto, with Psyduck beating Kingler, ironically.
Wahoo! Now all of Ash’s Pokémon from the Hoenn region have been covered. With Corphish, I like how the anime gave him a lot of personality and comic relief, while also showing his prowess by having him take on a lot of tough opponents. While he didn’t win every battle, it’s still nice that he had a lot of time in the spotlight. Part of me does wish that he evolved into Crawdaunt and show some character growth, though, since a dark type would’ve been an interesting addition to Ash’s team (plus Crawdaunt has a really cool design).
Great vid as always, though I have to disagree with you on the inconsistent part! True, he had some questionable losses and the misty battle was definitely really dumb, but I don't think he's any more inconsistent than any of Ash's other pokemon. Buizel has roughly the same win rate and some pretty bad losses too (especially Kenny's empoleon and Bryce's steelix) and even powerhouses like Pikachu or sceptile had a lot of terrible losses to (looking at you, panpour and luvdisc!). I feel like corphish managing double wins vs flannery including her ace, double win vs the 8th gym leader Juan, league performance, and being one of the few pokemon with multiple wins vs frontier brains (who Scott suggests were around e4 level, though I find that claim a bit dubious. Still Anabelle especially was very strong) cement him as a powerhouse and make up for the losses That's just my 2 cents though, sorry for the long comment lol if you read this far keep up the great work! Really glad you are continuing to go through ash and co despite not being the protagonists anymore, keep the legacy alive!
Thank you for covering Corphish. This pokemon has always been one of my favorites. I personally think corphish shouldn't evolve because he might lose his silly personality but it wouldn't be a big deal. His wins are very imperrisve and I wish pokemon would just show us a whole season of ash just using his past pokemon's in battles. I would love to see corphish and sceptile vs an elite four trainer and win. Probably against Sielbold and his Clawitzer and Blastoise. Hopefully Misty and her pokemon go see so her clauncher can be impressed.
Another question 🙋♀️ Professor, I wonder 💭 if several characters grab Cilan by his green bow tie in the anime in a few episodes and 2 of the Black and White movies 🍿 like 👍 Iris
I never understood why had a fear to evolve his Water-Types. Prior to his Greninja, the only other Water-Type that Ash had that evolved was his Kingler. I feel that Ash's Corphish should've evolved into Crawdaught at some point when he was onscreen.
I guess the writers thought that "As long as Ash's non fully evolved Water-types [aside from Kingler and Lapras] have cute designs, kids will love them more than their fully evolved counterparts". But, since everyone now hates this premise so much, it's safe to say that fully evolved Water-types are now preferable for Ash.
@@OmnicidalClown1992 I'm not sure, though I do know that Japan does love a lot of cute Pokemon (e.g., Oshawott, Buneary, Emolga) and I do like some cute mons (Azumarill is my favorite cute mon), but even a majority of fans got sick of the heavy emphasis on cuteness since it can also be detrimental in development. Corphish didn't change his moveset until after Battle Frontier and his failure against Misty's Politoed was proof that Corphish should have evolved.
what about squirtle? He was one of Ash's most reliable pokemon and has several accomplishments, which include Orange Island Gyms and Battle Frontier. Also, what about Mr. Fish, the same pokemon that Ash used to beat other Champions' pokemon?
I had a question 🙋♀️ about Brock in the anime Professor, despite having his eyes 👀 close he can still see everyone and everything especially when trying to fall in love 😻 or flirt with the girls 👧 right?
Given that Corphish did not change his moveset until after Battle Frontier, along with failing to beat Misty's Politoed, it's safe to say the writers still owe Ash a Crawdaunt. Also, nice that you finished the Hoenn team. Final thoughts: Sceptile: Nice that we finally got a Grass starter to fully evolve, but too many episodes as a Grovyle made people think the writers wanted a Bayleef 2.0. Swellow: Best region bird! Also, Thunder Armor Torkoal: Nice that Ash has a Fire-type that isn't a starter but this mon needs more wins. Glalie: Cool and powerful, shame it wasn't utilized enough. Also, you got to cover all six of Ash's non fully evolved Water-types. Thoughts again on the other 5: Squirtle: He'll always be the classic Water-starter who does not need to evolve, even though Blastoise is cool. Though it's a shame that the writers looked at Squirtle and thought "Let's overused the trend, because as long as non fully evolved Water types are cute, kids will love it more." Totodile: He may have a happy dancing personality, but zero Gym wins, lack of development and a poor win ratio in the 45% range is proof why Feraligatr is more preferable for Ash. Buizel: Many fans think that Buizel is a strong cute unevolved Water-type but given that he lost a lot of focus after his failure in Byron's Gym because of Infernape, he should have been a Floatzel. And don't give me the "Oh Buizel learned Ice Punch which is good enough development" because learning one new move and calling it a day is proof that Infernape made Buizel look bad along with making DP "Pokemon: The Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape Show". Oshawott: This guy may be goofy but he's just a blatant lazy rehash of Dawn's Piplup. And don't give me the "Oshawott is a strong cute unevolved Water starter who doesn't need evolution" because not only should he have been a Samurott (a first ever Water starter ace instead of trying to reinvent the ace being a Fire-starter abandoned by abusive trainer) he's the main reason why the staff was banned from creating another non fully evolved cute Water starter mascot stunt. Palpitoad: Not fully evolving into Seismitoad is bad enough, but the fact he had a low screentime in favor of Oshawott who was again a lazy repeat of Piplup is stupid. The writers gave Ash two Water mons in Unova yet they failed to fully evolved either one?! Overall, the cliche is overused, lazy and universally hated by everyone and out of the 6 non fully evolved Water-types, Feraligatr, Crawdaunt, Floatzel, Samurott and Seismitoad are more preferable mons for Ash.
I liked Ash’s corphish his personality was enjoyable but how cool would it have been if it evolved crawdant was a Pokémon that grew on me and I enjoyed having it on my team in Pokémon alpha sapphires and it used move mike dive and X scissor and it as well as several others helped out during the elite four, and I enjoyed using him during my play throughout! Just imagine if ash’s corphish has d a rivalry with the crawdant on team Aqua, it’ll be kind of like Brock’s crogunk and Saturns toxicroak thst would be dope
Naw corphish is definitely stronger than buizel based on feats alone. Beating frontier brain Pokémon (elite 4 level) is way more impressive than any of buizels wins
I LOVED Ash's Corphish growing up. Him and Buizel are two of Ash's Pokemon. I'm glad never evolved, especially since they both beat their evolved forms.
Corphish’s win over Katie’s Golduck was pretty funny how he grabbed Golduck with a friendly handshake and then beat both Golduck and Venomoth while confused. Plus it was a shame Corphish didn’t evolve into Crawdaunt as the evolution would make Corphish stronger, as a rival to Sceptile, and made him Ash’s first dark type Pokémon.
Something you can notice along those years of Ash's journey is that none of his water types evolved (besides Kingler but he was a reserve since the beginning) until Greninja in XYZ(which also suffered from the dark typing syndrome as it never learned any dark type move, with Cut being the alternative to Night Slash since it's called Crossroad killing in japanese), and Corphish along with Buisel are some of the pokemon who suffered more from this, both fought their evolved versions and had a love for battling, and I could definitely see Corphish's rivalry with Sceptile being more highlighted than ever had he evolved into a Crawdaunt, evolving and keeping his jolly brute personality would also contribute to remove the impression of dark type pokemon as evil and nasty in the anime, such a bummer he never evolved though, he was one of my favorites in the whole anime along with Scraggy who also a victim of the dark type addition
Ash’s corphish is underrated, he deserves much more respect like the rest of ash’s Pokémon. Also I do hope that corphish is still friends with mays blazekin and wartortle and Brock’s ludicolo afterwards
Before even watching this I always remember corphish from ash’s gym battle with flannery when it had yawn used on it and was just getting the crap beat out of it all while asleep. like if i remember right it tanked some series hits for being unable to defend itself
Corphish, alongside Buizel, should've been a water type of Ash's that evolved. I think they wanted to keep the rambunctious personality of Corphish, but I don't really see why even after evolving that he couldn't have still been silly as a Crawdaunt.
@@pn2294 Yet Corphish and Buizel were mishandled. Infernape is the main reason why Buizel suffered a lack of focus and did not become Floatzel. Floatzel also has Swift Swim as an ability like Buizel, so don't tell me that "Buizel learned Ice Punch therefore it is automatically good enough development". He may have stopped Paul's Gastrodon but his lack of focus contributed to his failure against Kenny's Empoleon and Paul's Drapion. Because Corphish did not change his moveset until AFTER Battle Frontier, his failure against Politoed proved why Crawdaunt is more preferable for Ash.
I still wished that Ash's Corphish had gotten a chanced to evolved before Pokemon Battle Frontier Series ended. Because ever since Ash caught Corphish it hasn't learn any powerful moves at all, I bet if it had evolved into Crawdaunt then it could learn some powerful moves like Superpower, Nightslash and Hydro Pump.
I think Corphish's battles and personality are underrated imo. Not to mention his various antics with the other Pokemon, especially Treecko/Grovyle and Torchic/Combusken. I loved his battles in the Hoenn League. The battle with Golduck will always be a classic Lol moment... Along with the epic draw with Swampert. Let's not forget the epic double alongside Swellow at the Battle Dome, which is completely underrated, and his performance at the Battle Tower. Shame he didn't do much after that, especially as Ash's last loss in the anime. Overall, to me, Corphish was an early Buizel... And I like him. Like Buizel, he could have evolved, yes... But we still love him and his antics.
Looking back, it's honestly surprising how much he beasted it at the Hoenn League. Glalie, swellow and Corphish we're way more memorable there than Grovyle imo
The hilarious 🦀 is here!! This guy is so underrated and I would love to be friends with him 😁!! Could you please do your next video on Rowlet 💚? I would love to see a video on the God himself!!
What i find the funniest thing about Corphish his capture episode is that Ash was forced to use a trick out of Team Rocket's trick Book to capture the corphish with the Pitfalls. That moment was so funny and laughable
i REALLY love psychic types and since Liko’s hatenna evolved into hattrem when ever you have time can you cover Liko’s hattrem? (it’s your channel so don’t let me pressure you)
What's the best thing about Corpfish is it didn't fully evolve into Crawdaunt? Were there any other water type Pokémon from the Hoenn region Ash should have caught?
He could have gotten corpish, but when the experience of politoed's defense and the match was made to see who would get the pokemon before, he evolved, but he still lost, there is defeat, the trainer's sadness, the trainer's inability to get a water type he likes, the feeling of abandonment, combined, those feelings became power to win, there are statistics, gym protector corpish hoenn They say how can he lose the world champion after he hasn't done anything since, and Misty Ceruledun city gym leader in front of him is not an empty trainer, so sometimes they react without thinking, they make comments, they oppose those who say the opposite, if they think a little, they will understand, but it doesn't work. So this is the explanation of his defeat to Politoed, professor, we cannot think of this when we look at it too emotionally
Techinally the first mon for ash that wasn't the regional starter, he really did came thru in the latter arc of the series, showing crabs being ash powerhouses. While it does suck that he lost to misty, all about "aim to be an pokemon master" sucked cause it was the worst send off 8:28 moments like this and his love for food really does make u wish that brock got corphish instead while ash got mudkip, ngl
Which Pokemon should we tackle next?? Also, quick correction near the end of the video, I mentioned that Ash had only lost once to Misty but he actually lost twice. She also beat him at the Whirl Cup.

Can you do Ash’s Ganga PLEASE
Corphish is one of my favorite of ash pokemon it awesome through hoenn league and battle frontier
I really enjoyed how much comedy he injected into the series
Naw corphish is definitely stronger than buizel based on feats alone. Beating frontier brain Pokémon (elite 4 level) is way more impressive than any of buizels wins
For me, Corpish had the best intro out of all Ash's captured Pokemon.
Ash’s Hawlucha
Working on it!
@@ProfessorAlexSilver thank you
MY BOIIIIIIIIIIII
I like 👍 Ash’s Corphish without evolving
I wish Corphish evolved. It was so underrated. 🦞
💯
He deserves an evolution episode
Saying it should’ve evolved is insulting
@@pn2294 His failure against Misty's Politoed is proof that Corphish should have evolved.
@@hiddenfan-37 so that Crawdaunt can lose? Ok
I LOVED Ash's Corphish growing up. Him and Buizel are two of Ash's Pokemon. I'm glad never evolved, especially since they both beat their evolved forms.
I really liked him as a character as well. It's too bad he was so inconsistent in battling 😂
I liked that Ash caught a non starter water type in Hoenn
Hey Professor Will You Do The Complete History Of Goh's Suicune Please!
That could be a fun one, I'd probably wrap it into a complete history of the legendary beasts as a whole though
There's 21 minutes of corfish lore?! silver, you did it again.🫡
May's Munchlax next
That could be a fun one!
@@ProfessorAlexSilver ikr and I definitely think it would be funny and interesting
Corphish, alongside Buizel, should've been a water type of Ash's that evolved. I think they wanted to keep the rambunctious personality of Corphish, but I don't really see why even after evolving that he couldn't have still been silly as a Crawdaunt.
Them winning is precisely why they don’t need to evolve
Evolution is for weak Pokémon
@@hiddenfan-37 why does it need to become Floatzel?
@@pn2294 Floatzel also has the Swift Swim ability and Infernape is the main reason why Buizel lost a lot of focus in the latter of DP.
@@hiddenfan-37 I find it hilarious whenever people treat the anime like it’s a video game
The History of Tierno's Blastoise: From Squirtle to POWERHOUSE!
That'd be a super fun one
@ProfessorAlexSilver Grovyle did have epic wins against Steelix and Walrein, but, yes... Those three did shine more, which I didn't mind.
@@CoolNaladon’t forget Quilava
@@bige81892 I guess.
One of my favorite ash pokemon
Definitely one of Ash's powerhouse fighters in his career. Shame we never got to see him evolve because could you imagine how powerful he would be?
He’s like Buizel and Oshawott combined
He’s a competent battler whilst being extremely funny
Hope you're having a good day
The hilarious 🦀 is here!!
You should make a video which characters should come back for Pokémon horizons
That's a great idea, I'd love to see Brock again
i REALLY love psychic types and since Liko’s hatenna evolved into hattrem when ever you have time can you cover Liko’s hattrem? (it’s your channel so don’t let me pressure you)
Some day! I think I'll wait ttill the story is complete
Favorite Hoenn water type
Corphish is basically the Hoenn equivalent of Ash's Totodile.
While it does suck that he lost to misty, all about "aim to be an pokemon master" sucked cause it was the worst send off
8:28 moments like this and his love for food really does make u wish that brock got corphish instead while ash got mudkip, ngl
