Lots of unworthy comments. Point. The foam was working like it was suppose to, but they ran out. The truck only can carry so much. You are seeing the behind the scene view of what actually goes on & the issues involved in a fuel fed fire. People need to keep in mind that not every place in the world is equipped to handle a massive liquid fuel type fire. You can dump water on it, but all your going to do is move the fire around, spread it out. Best to let these types of fires burn themselves out. Great job by local police for getting the traffic on the freeway stopped. Actually people are pretty stupid & so many of them would drive right up to the blazing tanker just to get a selfy. It is important that we get the many views of the responding vehicles. You can clearly see they are all help up by people failing to yield the right of way to the emergency vehicles. Nobody cares, & drives around with the head up the but, even the white utility truck who could clearly see & hear the fire chief coming, and elected to cut him off anyway. The cops did a great job, fire rescue did a great job. Everyone needs to review this video for training. Great stuff. I seen a firetruck that had a snorkel sticking out of the front of the truck in a different video. They sure could of used one here.
The Highway Department could include FIRE HYDRANTS along the freeways when they put forth a design for the roadways… overlooked in every State! Dumb and Dumber in charge of building the Freeways, there is a major waterline off each side of the freeway and only needs an occassional lateral line to the side of the road.
Love how everyone's bashing SMFR; bunch of self-proclaimed firefighters. I'd honestly love to see y'all manage this scene with flawless grace. Shouldn't be so hard seeing as to that you know exactly what they put up with.
The city would have a pissed off (/and broke) taxpayers situation if they installed hydrants every few hundred feet along every highway. Better idea: They should only install them by the highways where the fires are going to happen.
I just love how close-knit and brotherly the entire international firefighting community is. If people were more focused on putting out the fires of life rather than starting them, we would have a much brighter future.
As a civilian learning IMS, I appreciate the complex work involved in handling an incident like this and all the while managing resources, internal communications, logistics, and planning.. wow. Amazing learning.
This is what I wanna know... why doesn't anyone stop? The emergency vehicle has the right of way. That doesn't mean keep going through the intersection just because it's green. Stop and let the fire truck go!!!
Matt D technically you are supposed to continue through the intersection and once you have completely gone through the emergency vehicle has the right of way. But for the people waiting at the red light were in a predicament because they really couldn’t go anywhere. But i understand what you’re saying.
While I am a strong proponent of slow down/move over and yielding to emergency vehicles, that dump truck may not have heard the fire truck, medium duty diesels can be loud, especially the older ones, it also seemed like he was loaded down and back from the intersection a ways when he started rolling, so by the time he would have heard/seen the engine at the intersection while focusing on shifting and making the turn at an appropriate speed, he wouldn't have been able to stop in time to allow the engine to move forward. The rest of those jackasses should've pulled out of the way, especially that white service body on the freeway that thought he could outrun the chief
During a recent tanker fire here on Long Island, they mobilized at least one crash rescue from the local airport about 15 minutes away, this was able to do a great job on the knockdown but this was a great use of relay pumping with multiple engine companies.
Here in vegas, construction got a lil bit smarter with the recommendations from fire units.. All new fwy areas are now being built with fire plugs on the fwy now..
Allison I saw the smoke from Lakewood. Agreed, these firefighters/EMS/police all did a great job in managing this level of emergency on the busiest highway in the Denver metro area. Great work and great response.

That’s what gets me upset so much when people they don’t pull over and let the fire trucks and ambulance passed through this is so rude of people when they have their lights on you have to pull over to make way for emergency vehicles great video
David Reviews If it went to court the driver of the non-emergency vehicle would be at fault. As far as the fire/police/ambulance departs go. If you trade paint with a vehicle that didn’t move out of the way, they see it as the emergency vehicle operator driving reckless and the driver of the emergency vehicle is going to be written up for that. As well forced to attended a recertification course for driving emergency vehicles.
If an emergency vehicle with siren on runs a red light and crashes into another vehicle going through a green light, its the emergency vehicle driver's fault
Ich glaube das Feuer brennt noch immer. Die warten bis das Feuer so gut wie aus ist, und dann warten die Feuerwehrleute bis es wieder brennt. So bekommt man das Feuer aber nicht aus.

This Department (South Metro) they run both the municipal and airport stuff for the area. they have 3 ARFF rigs all of which are kept off-airport property at 2 sperate stations (both are only a few min drive from the airport but not on it), makes it a lot easier for them to use those truck on other fires.
Red 1(the big one if I rememeber) is multipurpose in SMFR. Its used in the winter during heavy snowfall, used at fuel fires if they are large enough or Airport
"...are always stingy as fuck about leaving the airport..." No they're not. Adults lose that kind of attitude sometime around the time they decide to be responsible.
Samuel Vasquez they had the traffic still moving on the very last lane & exit before they got to that part they blocked off . So people were still moving . Just all going to one exit

Its there for the foam i'm assuming they carry large amounts of foam to battle aircraft fires with jet fuel whereas standard engines carry limited amount.. tons of water wouldn't put that thing out without foam to smother it
@@dacrew5779 foam also breaks water tension making the use of less on fires, this is really one of the only reasons a standard rig would carry it. Well maybe auto fires or trash fires but foams rarely used
Da Crew yes and airport tankers carry a different kind of foam because jet fuel is a lot stronger just like kerosene!!!!! way hotter burn and harder to put out and burns extremely fast
3% AFFF(Aqueous Film Forming Foam) most of our Foam units carry around 420 Gallons on AFFF. Great blanketing capability’s which shut out any type of Fire spread through fuel. It does need to be reapplied every so often because it tends to break down.

I'm genuinely curious, are there no water trucks in the Denver metro area? The department I used to work with had bunches, but I'm in an area prone to wildfires too...
Based upon conversations I've had with KC area departments, there aren't many dedicated tinders. I believe the airport has a couple. But generally, they just cycle pumpers and engines to ferry enough water if they can't get a hydrant.
1/2 our District has Hydrants the other don't.All the depts around here have a Tanker or 2.Couple times we've had to help the City with Water Supply with a couple Tankers, don't take their Hydrants away they get lost.

Yep. I think more people need to learn how to ask "why", especial if it's pertaining to somones job and what they are doing doesnt seem to make sense.
Fuking pigs screwed it up/got in the firefighter's way.
Phil's Midwest Classic Cars you are Right
The Highway Department could include FIRE HYDRANTS along the freeways when they put forth a design for the roadways… overlooked in every State! Dumb and Dumber in charge of building the Freeways, there is a major waterline off each side of the freeway and only needs an occassional lateral line to the side of the road.
I’m too lazy to read all of this
Love how everyone's bashing SMFR; bunch of self-proclaimed firefighters. I'd honestly love to see y'all manage this scene with flawless grace. Shouldn't be so hard seeing as to that you know exactly what they put up with.
Haha but it wood good comment
The Stig the city needs to evaluate the fire hydrant situation. Maybe duh a bit closer to major highways.
The city would have a pissed off (/and broke) taxpayers situation if they installed hydrants every few hundred feet along every highway. Better idea: They should only install them by the highways where the fires are going to happen.
What You Haven't Seen how are they suppose to predict where fires are going to happen
So you mean to tell me the other engines are saving their water for another fire? Interesting.
I just love how close-knit and brotherly the entire international firefighting community is.
If people were more focused on putting out the fires of life rather than starting them, we would have a much brighter future.
Pfft...the "brotherhood" is an urban myth.
Firefighters are all the same, regardless in which country they are. They do all the same work, for the same reason: Helping people.

In Norway even if it's rush hour, people clean the road for emergency vehicle within second's.

This Department (South Metro) they run both the municipal and airport stuff for the area. they have 3 ARFF rigs all of which are kept off-airport property at 2 sperate stations (both are only a few min drive from the airport but not on it), makes it a lot easier for them to use those truck on other fires.

i was just wondering... has the incident been updated???
Lol
You know it's intense when the airport firetrucks are needed.
Well maybe auto fires or trash fires but foams rarely used
Exactly what I was thinking!!!!
