Suga has interviewed all his 6 members on his show SUCHWITA (Jungkook twice). And then RM did Sugas interview. They are really great to watch as they talk about their solos and the old days. He has also had other idols and artists on there.💜

Armys do buy bts albums in bulk ( if they can afford it). Esp for the love yourself series there is a theme connecting all the versions of all 3 albums. Some as you said maybe scammers but most of them do buy and keep it for themselves or they do giveaways for those who can't access them easily or they give it to other armys for free. If u go to a bts concert venue, you can see many ppl giving away albums and other merch to others

also a lot of armys do giveaways for the other armys who cant afford the albums , many of the albums have US specific pcs or photocards and these armys but it in bulk so that the other armys who dont live in the us can buy it off them , its not scalping but rather just helping , also each album has like 2 or 3 versions at most ( other kpop groups have like 5 versions of a single album , bts are one of the artists with the least versions )and each version has differnt photocards and contents inside , so those who have the money def would love to have and collect all these albums , i myself have 2 of the butter albums

Don't forget group orders. A lot of times, armys buy albums in bulk for a group of people to save on shipping fees. Ofc this applies only to online stores.

We can’t do bulk or group orders anymore and have it count for charts. Billboard changed the rules to no more than four physicals (and 1 digital).
You guys need to watch the Boracity video re: BTS and radio, and BTS and Billboard, before you throw stones about buying albums. Radio stations STILL refuse to play BTS if there is an ounce of Korean in the song, and a couple of months ago a radio station DJ told someone I know who called to request 3D by Jung Kook that “we can’t play songs that aren’t in English.” 3D is fully English, with an American rapper, and western writers and producers. The only thing “Korean” about it is JK’s nationality.

@@OT7_DopeOldARMY I know all that 😊 But I'm not from the US and I'm not talking about US ARMYs. Many ARMYs here in New Zealand do group orders because it saves us a lot of money. 16:48 "Is this scalping?" - to explain why they are buying a LOT of album is because number 1 we want to support and boost the sales of the album, 2 because most of us collect photocards, each album has a different version of concept photos, and 3, BTS and Big Hit Entertainment pledge 500 million KRW to the UNICEF campaign, and will also donate 3% of the Love Yourself series’ physical album sales income. All the income from sales of official goods related to the LOVE MYSELF campaign and additional donations to UNICEF will also be put towards #ENDViolence.
Love Yourself: Her has 4 versions of album, so there's version L, O, V, E
Love Yourself: Tear has 4 versions of album, so there's version Y, O, U, R
Love Yourself: Answer has 4 versions of album, so there's version S, E, L, F
Meaning for the LY Trilogy there's 12 versions and then multiply that to 7 members because each album has 1 member photocard only per version.
I hope you learn from this fact, it's a culture in K-pop World. That's not even the extreme part, 1 photocard of a member can be sold in a huge amount especially if it's RARE photocard. 😊
I think you should react to Boracity Magazine's video about this to understand: th-cam.com/video/NwIkdGL_HUE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=enRiTLge96XcM5uJ

Buying albums in bulk is basically ARMY culture lol. ARMYs often do giveaways of the extra albums. I have seen ARMYs distributing free albums at concerts. It's basically a way to gift albums to the fans who aren't able to buy albums for whatever reason. I think it's the sweetest thing 😊

  • @thegeekoutgirl
    @thegeekoutgirl 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

17:00 If I were to be completely honest, it wasn't scalping. They were probably trying to get all seven photocards lmao. Plus the Love Yourself Tear album had four versions. Personally, I know I bought four for myself to have each concept. Then I bought extras to donate and for friends.
Also, I want to add that before BTS, it was HELLA HARD to get kpop albums in regular stores. I used to have to go on shady websites to get kpop albums and random korean grocery stores. When BTS and army came about and consistently asked, Target FINALLY got BTS albums. And with that, more kpop albums started becoming available in Targets. It was such an amazing change for me to see cuz teenager me could never imagine this happening ever. I used to search Sam Goodes or Tower for asian music and it'd only be classical, never current and popular music. BTS made such a change.

The reason why many bought that many albums because there's different versions of the album. Although the songs are the same but the content of the albums like the posters and photocards are different. For example, in this trilogy of love yourself, the last album was Love yourself: Her and the versions were L, O, V, E. and for this album Love Yourself: Tear the versions were Y, O, U, R. Their last album of the trilogy was Love Yourself: Answer and the version was S, E, L, F.

    • @ZariDV
      @ZariDV 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

@@pennyyoung3997 We don't need to be assholes about it. He was making the most reasonable next logical conclusion that the aveage person would make. If you see someone pick up over a dozen albums, generally that often means they're scalpers because the average person has no need for that many albums. And we know that BTS scalpers exist and they will resell items for 20x the original asking price. Let's not act like he was so wild for wondering if that was the case. Only people who know kpop or ARMY culture when it comes to buying albums wouldn't come to that conclusion first.
He was clearly reacting to the girl buying what looked like over a dozen copies of the same album. Even if we went with the assumption that she was buying the different versions, she wouldn't need to pick up that many because LY: Tear only had 4 versions. You would need to know that ARMYs do free giveaways and gift albums to each other to come up with that idea first because that's not as common in the West. Hardly anybody is buying physical albums in the first place, much less this many and definitely not to give away for free. People can only speculate based on their experiences with things. Being kind takes no effort.

Anpanman translates to 'Bean bread man'. Anpan is kind of a Japanese bread/pastry that is filled with red bean paste. He is a very popular Japanese children's superhero who has an 'anpan' for a head. He can do some stuff but he also unhesitatingly tears a piece of his head when he comes across people who are hungry, making him weaker till his head needs to be replaced. He is a charitable superhero who fights for the good in the world and will always be there when you call for him. He may not have much to offer, but whatever he has - he offers it all.

BTS became the first Kpop group to enter the HOT100 top 10 in 2018 (they were the only kpop group to even enter the top 70 until then), and no other kpop act has entered the Top10 since (excluding bts solos), that's crazy.
BTS are now the artist (not kpop artist, just artist) with the most billboard #1's this decade, Jimin and Jungkook also got #1's with their solo songs and all members have entered the chart as soloists

there is so much thought and art concept put into their packaging. it blows away ANYTHING i've ever seen by a western artist. Not only do ARMY buy and give away to those who cant buy - and yes the photocards. But if you lay out all 12 of the LY series it is a lovely continuous design that flows thru and connects each version. Plus as you saw - ARMY had to push hard for a long time to even be "allowed" to purchase albums in the US - so it was a mad scramble to get them as there was no Kpop sections in mainstream stores. The money from physicals goes directly to the artist. And since western radio refuses to play BTS - and they keep 'changing the rules' of the charts to weigh radio play more heavily - the *ONLY* way ARMY can show support is through album purchases.

16:46 A lot of K-pop fans will buy multiple albums in general (even if they’re the same version) to collect photo cards of a certain member or concept from that era. Kind of like baseball cards or Pokémon cards. The really rare or exclusive ones can go for a lot of money on independent seller sites (like eBay). I’ll be honest, I’ve bought a couple. Two were from an album that I had purchased, but wasn’t lucky enough to receive. My most expensive one is from an album that was exclusively sold at the showcase, so there’s only a couple copies of it in the world (luckily, my seller didn’t realize that, so I got it for cheap).
Also, some fans like to buy one of each version so they can also have each set of photo books that come with the album. The BTS LOVE YOUR SELF series is very special, as when you collect each album version from the trilogy, it makes this beautiful winding picture of a budding flower turning into a full heart. Oh, and when you line each album together on a shelf, it spells the phrase “LOVE YOURSELF” in holographic ink.

It's actually pretty common for some ARMY to buy multiple albums to get the different versions but when they buy in such large numbers, it's usually to do giveaways. You can often get free albums at concerts, ARMY events online, Twitter, Insta, etc. So in the end the music finds a home with ARMY who might not be able to afford the album or maybe the shipping (which can often be way more expensive than the album itself). Sometimes people organize groups to pool together money and have one person buy it for everyone. It's more affordable if you have to import it. It can be as expensive as 1/3 of my monthly mortgage payment to get BTS stuff shipped to me. Weverse is hella expensive especially.

It’s not just the album we are after but also the photo cards in them. And also each album has different letters on them that will spell LOVE YOURSELF on it plus the design in front of the album is art in itself that when placed side by side will connect all four albums. That is why we buy them in bulks like that in order to have all this features together. And yes I bought several of them until I completed my Bangtan 7 photocards on each album they released. That’s the genius of their marketing strategy. And now a lot of kpop artist are doing the same. As a true ARMY that is also our small way of supporting them (BTS). This 7 guys that probably will never know me or know my name but that’s okay has helped me this past 7-8 years since I discovered them in 2015 and became a full pledged ARMY in 2016. And I am 50+ years young same age as Jungkook’s mom. So I see these guys like my own kids and will love them and protect like my own. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

24:38 REALLY random but this reminds me of when Enhypen had their show called "Into the I-Land" when they were still trainees competing to form their group. They had a challenge to do BTS songs. There were quite a few BTS covers actually now that I think of it. There was Fire, Fake Love, Butterfly, Save Me, and others. And BTS showed up once and half a time too. As did some members from Seventeen and TXT. It was fun. I should go rewatch lol

So along with multiple versions of albums and giveaways as other people mentioned, some people will buy multiple albums for the photocards. There are only usually 1or2 per album, have multiple versions per member, and they are randomized so people will buy many albums to get a wide variety of phtocards or get the member's card they want

Huh? That word is associated with selling fakes for profit. That is not Army’s purpose, they do not need to do that. They are helping to grab albums for armys who want them or can’t easily get them but want to support BTS. No profit, more like losing on gas money and time spent lol. As that Korean philosophy professor said, it’s army work for US armys when facing barriers. It’s a win for only not BTS, but open doors later for kpop to have albums at stores like Target when they didn’t have before. I’ve been to Target where their new album get sold out already, so I had to check different Targets and Walmarts to help buy them for myself and my friends (they pay me back) because they’re unable to due to work schedules and distance. Other armys buy them for those who couldn’t afford to get the album but want to support BTS, so some army would go out of that way to pay out of their pockets to help those armys. Just in case you forgot from those guides, army are charitable/give. I have bought few copies of big magazines at Barnes & Noble‘s when BTS were on the front cover, because they get sold out fast and so I help to grab them for me and few of my friends before they’re gone (they pay me back, bc I don’t have that much). When they are featured/on the cover of major magazine sold in the US, especially at the time when they were the only Asian artists making huge wave/splash in the US/Western world, it’s like collecting something historical.

Besides of the photocards and extras an album may have there's a fact until these days...people living far from where the albums are selled can wait months for the 'delivery' but in ARMY'S community even in Korea one or two ARMY go to the store buy in bulks for when they go back to town they can "deliver" themselves to other Army-townies and keep the pace with the releases and what comes after.

27:07 ngl what he said might seem so generic but he's so REAL. a lottttttt of people in the idol scene DO go into the industry as a stepping stone and easy fame instead of actually liking music😭 ik a lot of fans like to blame the contracts and the agency not allowing them creative freedom yada yada....but the truth is a LOT of them ARE comfortable as is😭 they dont WANT to make music when it can be handed to them and thats ok to admit fr😭 although there are a few who still did their own music after their restrictive contracts end, most simply go act/model/influencer cos music isnt what they truly love anyways.
So when artists who truly love it perform, it SHOWS.
its such a shame tbh. i remember when i first found out how the kpop training setup worked, it reminded me of medieval europe where artists had patrons and they'd just work on their art in their studios etc. obvs had a shock when i realised its NOT like that and very corporate instead jsjsjs but there's still chances and means to work on their art, which i feel most idols dont capitalise on tbh. my artist fren would LOVE a socially acceptable art pursuing route like this in our country tbh.

Armys buy multiple albums mainly for 2 reasons: there are various versions of each album with different concepts photos and photo books and second reason: to give away to other armys that can't afford.Maybe because they don't have the means or maybe they live in a country/city where don't sell them. We ship the albums to them.

Halsey is their best friend in the music industry. She is particularly close to Suga, and he has spent Christmas at her house before. She is the only artist friend they gifted one of their iconic sparkly mics in her own color (orange) and who danced the choreo with them in their collab song. She calls them "The Uncle Gang" to her son.
    13:30
Justin is absolutely correct. In a lot of ways, BTS breaks the mold for KPop and a majority of BTS fans are not fans of other KPop. They didn't draw their fans from a KPop fanbase pool. You have to ask why that is. It's precisely because they are different, and their music has messages that are so universal, heartfelt, deep and meaningful that it resonates with people from all walks of life and age groups in counties all over the world. Not to mention that their music it technically and artistically just damned high quality, and spans so many genres. Their unique social media presence and ways of interacting with fans that was novel and allowed us to really get to know them helped people get acquainted with them and care about them, particularly because they were so stunningly candid and honest and open. But fans would not have stayed if the music had not also been so good, and so impactful and meaningful. They just are on a whole other level.

17:14 Many Army did/do buy in bulk, or at least more than 1 at a time for multiple reasons. I can guarantee that it wasn't for scalping though. There was no reselling for profit by Army. Others have talked about the reasons why, but it was purely out of love and excitement and not the usual greedy reasons that the work scalping implies.

And to think the tannies were even younger than that when others got (and they still get to this day) death threats too.........mf psychos ohhh my blood is boiling
And such a coincidence a few days ago a TH-camr who was a horrible human being as he was a pedo, racist, xenophobic and more has died and he was one of the main people during covid making those "jokes" about bts, mf was so obsessed he even went to PTD concert LA in late 2021 dressed in all kinds of asian traditional clothing (mocking and being racist and disrespectful basically) holding an edited picture of one of the members as some Chinese leader or some sht and he even made death threats of shooting the tannies back then too prior to the concert.
Now people online are airing what a piece of sht he rly was (mind you he died at 23 years old so he was like 21/22 in 2021) and he also had a gun sooo yeah.
Safe to say army celebrated on twitter (along with everyone else) when we found out about his death. Like rest in PISS bozo and may you burn in hell for the rest of eternity 😆😆😁😁🫶

2018 was a different time so it's understandable why they did it. If BTS performed fake love now in an American/western award show they wouldn't be changing a thing but the climate and their position was different for them back then. They were the "newbies", the "newcomers" in the US so they did what they had to do and it's very commendable of them to do so regardless.
Like they could have easily not changed some lyrics and nobody would have held it against them but the tannies went the extra mile because they didn't wanna be disrespectful or at least come across as disrespectful to the audience because part of the lyrics for fake love are in english so some people would have definitely misunderstood that they were saying a slur.
Now the world is more familiar with the Korean language, with BTS, with kdramas also becoming massive as of late so there isn't any room for that sort of misunderstanding happening. Just the times were different 6-7 years ago

@@SilverFang95 the Korean language has been around for centuries and yet bts'/Korea's presence on the global stage wasn't the same now as it was back in 2018🤷‍♀️
like trust me I get what u mean and I'm also frustrated that they felt they had to change up their own Korean lyrics but it is what it is at the end of the day. They felt it was better to do that than to have a possible huge backlash from the US/western gp who was not that familiar with their language/them that would have overshadowed their historical performance and 2nd win the bbmas than to go ahead with the original lyrics of the song. they felt it was the right move and I'm gonna stand ten toes behind them with their decision.

BTS of course still gets hate but it comes in a very different way with new tactics. There's the usual death threats, rape threats, run of the mill insults about them being talentless or buying the way to the top. But now they have more systematic issues outside of S.
