This is what i love bout Jean than most of foreign TH-camrs in Bali that I've watched 👀, most of em' just talk bout Canggu , Berawa, batu bolong areas ,all the Cafes and restaurants around there . Well if you really want to taste the real Bali culinary, go to Denpasar areas, explore there, go to local warungs, go to the traditional markets. I've been living in Bali for almost 9 years, i used to live and worked in Legian then i moved to Kerobokan close to Tiara Gatsu . That's what I've been doing with my husband, we went to explore Denpasar area if we were craving good Balinese /Indonesian foods , we went to Teuku umar, Renon, Sesetan , we also went to Dalung area, and Sanur also have some good foods . Thank you Jean, watching your channel makes me feel happy and Nostalgic 😊, i miss Bali already. Will come back there soon. ❤

I cannot agree more with you on Jean. You're right on point. I'm so sick of hearing Canggu and beach clubs, vegans and digital nomads and thought Bali has just lost it... until Jean & Vitaly came along.. now I look forward to Saturdays.

thank you guys.... we are also very sian of the typical western restaurant / hipster cafe offerings thats why we also always go poke around for real local food discoveries.... i get the sense we are still only scratching the surface of things haha but it's all delicious so we're also happy to take it slow and just enjoy the process..... the local food culture has been very impressive and the spices.. omg! very happy that you all are enjoying this asian food journey with us!

I love these local food vlogs and hearing you use bahasa Indonesian words as they are now becoming familiar to me - all the more helpful when I can finally return to Bali next year once our planes start flying there. Thanks from New Zealand and thank goodness for your videos each weekend to transport me to paradise.

Hi Jean and V! I'm an Indonesian/singaporean living in New Zealand for the past 17 years! I'm so glad that you guys are exploring local warung instead of the hip westernised overpriced cafes/restaurants. Imo that's where the true delish food are! I'm writing down every single places you both are recommending for when me, my family and 1 year old visit Bali in sept! can't wait to see your next videos already 😬

hey hey Sesa! Nice to hear from you! yeah we are definitely enjoying the colorful local food scene much more than the hipster cafe offerings which tend to be quite repetitive after a while. Di pulau Jawa khususnya Jawa Tengah, kami juga punya sesuatu yang mirip seperti ini.
Nama tempat jualannya biasa kami sebut "Angkringan" & produknya "Nasi Kucing" + hidangan pelengkap seperti "Sate Ati", "Sate Usus", "Tahu Bacem", "Tempe Bacem" & masih banyak lainnya.
Disebut "Nasi Kucing" karena porsinya sedikit seperti porsi makanan untuk kucing. ;-)

Nasi Padang would make you more full, just 15k IDR ($1 USD) already got 2 portions of rice, cassava leaves veggies, jack fruit veggies, 1/4 size chicken, sambal, and the kuah (soup)
Note: Only when takeaway, they give 2 portions of rice

How are you Jean? Feeling better I hope.. Stitches removed? Anway, I never had Nasi Jinggo in a dedicated shop like this and with so much varieties.. Always on the streets peddled on someone's head. Cost 1k each last time. Usually just standard nasi putih (edited.. I forgot the little strands of mee, lovely to mix with the rice) with a few strand of shredded chicken and shredded omelette with sambal and soooo fragrant. Sounds simple but such an unexplainable joy of eating out a small portion in a banana leaf. Washed down with Bali kopi in a little cup from another peddler. But this place does looks good.. so much to choose. LOL on the "headquarters" part, but it sure fits the place!

Hi guys. Lovely video. Always fun to watch. Thumbs up to you two.
The warm rice & chicken wrapped in banana leaf is grilled rice (it's called nasi bakar).
Btw, it's otak-otak, not otah otah.
The last dish you guys ate I think they are nugget, probably veggie nugget.
Oh, one last thing. "Mantap" is not steady. When you say "Mantap" about yummy food, the word means "Awesome" or "Great".
But when you hear someone say "Mantap" (in flat tone) after hearing the plane schedule is cancelled & the face turns sour, the word "Mantap" has different meaning. in cases like this the word means "How awfull" or sort of like "Dang!"

In Indonesia, there are Bali, Lombok, Komodo Island, Raja Ampat Papua, the Thousand Islands Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Borobudur and Prambanan temples, and Bromo in mountainous areas.
Riau is close to Singapore, Aceh, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, there are orangutans
If you go to Indonesia, don't forget the food, but be careful, Indonesian food is spicy
