My tip to avoid residue on my style is to use very little of the product if it appears to be really creamy because a little goes a long way and be sure to spread it on soaking wet hair using the praying hand method when applying for even distribution
I have 3b hair and I envy curlies that can keep their wash and gos for days! However, I live in a tropical area and i found that my wash and go only lasts me 2 days, I was heartbroken. Not only that, my hair is always crunchy and the product I use flakes on me. I didn't want to give up on my hair products so, I decided to mix things up a little. By the way, I don't use a lot of stuff on my curls because it's so humid here and my hair just builds up the products quickly. This was how I used to do my wash and go: I use the Redken Curvaceous cream shampoo and then condition using the Redken Curvaceous conditioner, after rinsing my hair out (I only rinse off 50 % of the condtioner), I use the Cantu Shine and Define Custard and I air dry... and that was it! It looked great and my curls were bomb but, it was crunchy and whenever I scrunch my hair, the flakes form. So, what I did instead was mixing a few drops of jojoba oil with the Cantu custard onto my palms and put it on my hair. Lastly, I apply more jojoba oil (a few drops would be enough) throughout my whole hair to seal the custard and oil mixture and then I air dry my hair. When my hair dries, it's crunchy so, I scrunch it out to break the cast and the flakes are gone and my wash and go would last for 4 to 5 days! After the scrunch, my hair is soft, bouncy and the best of all is that it's not oily! I'm so happy I didn't give up on my products! Adding oil makes hair care so much better!
TrayDent This was ny tip too, adding oil to the stylibg product makes all the difference to avoid flakes and when i do get them, i just srunch it out with oil and i'm good
I'm glad I found your channel although my hair is 4z, lol. I saw how many things I was doing wrong, i.e., layering too many products on my thin hair and applying oil/butter before my styler...it all makes sense! The problem is mimicking other yt's and following what they do...And not seeing that my hair can't tolerate what they do! I will give it a try and come back to let you know. I know this video is old, but hopefully you will see my comment. Thank you for your help. I tried the Deity shampoo, but did not see a difference in scalp issues. I struggle with the up keep of moisturizing/protein balance.
Thanks for the tip! Literally just did my hair using Shea butter. I've done it once before with eco styler gel and got great results. This time I used it underneath she moisture curling pudding and have so much residue. Your video made me realize where I went wrong. Thanks so much!
Yes, unfortunately I experienced "hair buggers/hair gunk" just this week and I should have known better 😩. I used castor oil under my styler, used two different stylers and overall used way too much product for my fine thin hair. Thanks for the reminder to keep it simple

Great Tip!! Thanks for sharing!
2:25 your welcome
Just to add to your tips 1. Work the product into your hair, don't just slap it on your strands.
That's so true. You have to work it in many times. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your tips which gave good guidance 😊
Thank you Thank you!! I thought it was just MY hair!! What if you just use gel,no cream? Does that work? Thank you so much!!❤️
For me, using a little bit and also not putting anything on the scalp.
Thanks for posting! I had this same issue yesterday. It was crazy how much residue I had. Will use your tips! :)
If you have Type 2 hair,
this does not apply to you. All Hair Butters are way too heavy for
wavy hair.
