So you have to open the top to fill it? Hmmm seems counter productive. You need a divider plate with a vent to control the water flow. Then it can fill as the dog drinks.
Yes it seems that way. I however have modified the pipe and added a valve for venting and filling and you no longer need to open the top. I'm sure there are many ways, better ways however this has worked for me. Thanks for watching, and thank you for your comment.
This will NOT refill until the level of water is lower than the lowest 90° bend. Correct me if I'm wrong but your dogs would need long straws to get the water level low enough for it to start to refilling. OR... if you have a vacuum break on the refill side you have a flooded patio/yard.
Yes that is correct. However, the main purpose for this is to let all the things that he brings into the water when he drinks settle to the bottom. The other thing that it does is it saves me from having to constantly refill and wash the container. By opening the water faucet and opening the air vent I can feel it all the way to the top. Then as I go by all I do is release some of the trapped air and the water is replenished and available. So basically what this does not only does it keep the water clean it allows more time in between having to clean and wash the container. It has work very nicely for me. Now I have had some comments telling me to add a float. However because of the water coming from a well sometimes it will block the float and not shut off properly. I know there are many ways of doing this and everyone has an idea, and believe me Summer better than mine. This has worked for me so I do not reinvent the wheel. Thanks for watching, thank you for your comment.

U never use glue for drinking water only use glue for sewage pipe. The glue has chemicals in it. Why do you think they use copper or pex tubing and weld. Also the water will never over flow out cause it's called gravity and you also need at least 1/4 inch hole at the top for access air to release as the animal drinks. you also don't need a extra foot of pipe at the bottom just the elbow pointing up is fine. GRAVITY!! One more thing the water will not go back to the original height with that lid on top keeping the appropriate amount of air to release for the water to maintain it's flow so again the lid is not needed nor was the one you put in the bottom but if u want a lid on top to keep dirt or whatever from getting in then either drill a decent size hole for the air to release or just out some kind of filter or screen there. Then just fill the water up n gravity will take care of the rest.
You're correct you need a vent hole on top. I later added a valve to release the water as it is being used. Also there was a water hose attached to the side to refill. The advantage to this is that any debris that goes into the water will sink to the bottom can only the clean fresh water is being used. Therefore you always have clean fresh water with little effort to maintain clean water for your pet. Thank you for watching. And thank you for your comment. Every effort is constantly being made to improve anything I make.
Eventually all that debris that lays in the bottom will cause the left over water in there to build up germs so every now n then at least once a week you'd have to flush it out and wipe the bottom plus after a while there will b a slimey build up on the walls cause after all it is plastic so that would need to b wiped down once a month at least. One more thing if u goto the store n pick up a pump for toilets u can mount it inside n use a flex hose to connect it which will also stop the water when the water rises the pump. Good luck in ur future inventions I enjoy the channel
Thank you very much for your feedback. I do rinse it out and thoroughly wash the inside. However the toilet valve sounds like an excellent idea. Thank you for your input.
@@schumpa17 You do realize that there are animals everyday for hundreds and thousands of years that drink out of puddles that are right on the ground !!!?? There are thousands and thousands of animals in Africa such as zebras water buffalo alligators hippopotamuses monkeys lions giraffes that drink out of standing water once the rivers dry up to where they don't flow anymore , and the alligators and hippos and water buffaloes pee and poop right in the water that they are all drinking from !!!!
