SHINee are LEGENDS. They have been setting trends since 2008. 5 amazing vocalist, 5 amazing dancers and 5 amazing performers. 💎💎💎💎💎 Forever. Thank you for your reaction.
I love your energy ladies. I am spoiled by Shinee live performances. They can make a so so song be lit when they perform it. Looking forward to you taking all the MV you watch and compare them along live performances. Its a cool and lovely ride!
In the "Lucifer" MV the SHINee members don't have superpowers, but the "smoke" or "light trail" you see is supposed to represent the aura of a girl who has devilish powers like Lucifer, who is trying to possess them and take over their lives. As the English lines in the song say, "Loveaholic, robotronic ... her whisper is the Lucifer." (They are using auto tune because they are supposed to be "robotronic"-ly controlled by the girl who is "The Lucifer." So the auto tune is meant to make them sound robotic.) In other words, the woman or girl they are talking about is so desirable that she is like Lucifer and you have to use all your willpower just to resist her wiles. In the MV you see them trying to fight against Lucifer's powers and resist her attempts to try to make them bend to her will, etc. That's why in the choreography you see all the robotic moves because they are showing how "Lucifer" is trying to control them like a robot -- for example, they put their wrists together like they are being handcuffed to show how she is trapping them. And they vibrate to show how they are being manipulated by "Lucifer" and they are trying to resist her powers, etc. (FYI: That vibration you saw them do is 100% them actually shaking like that, there aren't any camera tricks. If you pay attention when they perform Lucifer live, you will see them do that exact same thing. :D) LOL we have no idea why they had to be dancing in front of a sports car, but, as mentioned, that was kind of an iconic thing that Kpop companies did back then in a lot of their MVs, The group would dance around a fancy car to show off their coolness and to give the video a more futuristic, expensive looking aesthetic. As mentioned, "Lucifer" was released in July 2010 ("Hello" was the title track on their repackage album which came out in October 2010), so this was just the look that a lot of MVs had back then, in part because everyone was following SHINee's lead. Just take a look at TVXQ, Super Junior, Infinite or 2PM MV, etc. from around that time and you will see a similar look and style. SHINee was setting trends in the industry with 'Lucifer." As trendsetters it is SHINee's job to introduce the next song style and dance trend to the industry, and when SHINee has a comeback the industry takes note and follows suit. It is said that within 3 months of SHINee's comeback you will see that same sound, style and dance trend being duplicated across the industry for both boy groups and girl groups. That's how influential SHINee is. I'm not sure why people are often so thrown by their hairstyles and outfits in this MV. :D I think they are actually all pretty cool for doing something different that sets them apart from everyone else in the industry. And that is what makes SHINee legends and why "Lucifer" is such an iconic song and dance. You're not going to remember a group or a song if they look and sound the same as everyone else, you remember them for standing out and not being afraid to be unique. SHINee are also known for never being afraid to experiment with everything they do, including their style, and as the fashionista and stylist of the group, Key is always looking for ways to be unique, so his head was really shaved on the one side. What you see is his hair was bleached blond on the side and then shaved down to his scalp. He is known for always being unique and wanting to stand out. That's why Key's style is often just straddling the edge of outrageous, but somehow always manages to look cool. Fun fact: I think one reason why Minho's hair is so short at this time is because, if you remember, their previous comeback was with their song "Ring Ding Dong," and all the members had pretty long, shaggy hairstyles. However, Minho has never liked having long hair. He begged SM to allow him to cut his hair and it took a few weeks before they would let him do it. They made him wait until they were done promoting for the "Ring Ding Dong" album because their hairstyles were part of the album's concept. And therefore, Minho has refused to ever grow his hair out again. ;) So, I think for "Lucifer" Minho decided to rebel and go really short. This was also the era where Taemin had long hair and it made him one of the most popular of the members at the time, especially with their Japanese fans. The Japanese culture really embraces men with long hair and the members said that he was one of the most popular at the time because of his style. Taemin with long hair is so iconic and many in the fandom were really sad when he eventually cut his hair. So, in this MV, Taemin had just turned 17. Onew and Jonghyun are 20 and Key and Minho are 18. With SHINee's experimental concept, nothing they do will ever be like anything they have ever done before and that includes all the songs on each album. Every song and MV will be completely different from each other with a whole different, look and style every time. "Hello" actually comes after "Lucifer," so that's why you can never expect anything from them. Whenever SHINee releases something new, the only thing we expect is that it will be a brand new sound, look and dance style that we have never seen before. That's why their discography is so diverse and why they are able to continue to stay relevant even after more than 13 years. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines, if you haven't yet, you have to check out their iconic performance of "Lucifer" Live in concert. Check out their performance at their SHINee World Concert III (SWC3) in Seoul from 2014, th-cam.com/video/Fm5n8Q2XO34/w-d-xo.html. Or their performance of "Ring Ding Dong" and "Lucifer" at their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) in seoul from 2016, th-cam.com/video/WlnfJbEwsyw/w-d-xo.html. This is a perfect example of how you can tell they are singing live and killing it every time. SHINee doesn't need auto tune, and if you hear them perform the song live, they often don't use it. "Lucifer" is actually known as one of the most difficult songs and dances to cover because of its tutting and popping and for the fact that it has a very fast paced beat with dance moves that are very sharp and precise which are designed to hit every beat of the song. And the song itself is very complicated with the songs wide range of notes and flow. Many amateurs have thought "Lucifer" looks like one of SHINee's more simple songs and dances. But the minute they try to sing the song and/or dance the choreography, they soon discover that it is way more complicated than they thought. It only looks and sounds simple, because SHINee makes it look that way. Check out this clip of SHINee teaching a group of actors and comedians "Lucifer" as part of a challenge on the variety show "Invincible Baseball Team," th-cam.com/video/0V02cQwYLMQ/w-d-xo.html. It's funny because when they came to meet SHINee to start the practice, Jonghyun asked them why they chose this song of all songs, and they said because it looks manly and they thought it was fairly easy to cover. But the first thing Jonghyun said to them, while laughing, was "oh no, actually it's one of our more difficult choreography and it took us extra time to really perfect it." :D
You definitely need to show them the dance practice. SHINee's "Lucifer" dance practice was the very first dance practice video ever released specifically for fans. SHINee is the group that started the trend and they are why dance practice videos are even a thing today. :D It was the very first dance practice video to go viral. Back then dance practice videos were filmed for the group and artists to watch to help them remember the moves and to fix mistakes, etc. They weren't intended for a mass audience. But SM realized that fans were starting to try and copy SHINee's choreography and they decided to film a dance practice and release it to the public. SHINee's dance practice videos became so popular that other companies and groups started to follow suit and show off their choreography by releasing dance practices too
@Milinda Wilson for this well thought out explanation into SHINee and the important role in the development and growth of Kpop. Thank you for reminding everyone of their live shows which are where you really see what they can do. I also wanted to remind everyone of their performance of Lucifer from their 2018 Japan tour. th-cam.com/video/tUbySuTX6k4/w-d-xo.html It is made all the more powerful by the recent death of their beloved member; only 7 or 8 weeks(?) prior. In that short time they had to rework choreo and musical parts around the now missing dear member. On top of that, Lucifer is sung in Japanese. Thank you for taking the time to offer a deeper insight into their lovely work. I really appreciate it. Dear ladies of @mycupoftv, I had long since given up hope of finding reactors who can have a lovely convo around all things Kpop without having to scream, interrupt the vid 100 times while viewing. Thank you so much for the way in which you share your views. The convo is focused and relaxed, I love your reactions. You really are my cup of tea. Fighting!!
SHINee are like the best group since 2008 to 2010 they all dance very well and sing to but sadly one of the members who is Jonghyun died but he will always be remembered by us R.I.P Jonghyun❤💎
Loved this reaction! I wasn’t sure about Lucifer when I first heard it but it definitely grows on you. Looking forward to seeing you react to replay, ring ding dong, view, good evening and atlantis. My favourite shinee song is body rhythm, it’s a b side and doesn’t have an MV but put it on the list, it’s a great song!
One thing i want to point out, when you guys were talking about the dance practices and how Shinee are trendsetters, one thing that I didnt know until recently, Shinee's Lucifer dance practice video was the very first Kpop dance practice video that was ever uploaded. So all the dance practice videos that we have all watched from all other groups is thanks to Shinee for setting that trend of dance practice videos.
Love your SHINee reactions! Would love to see you react to some live performances, their ring ding dong and lucifer live at SW V is legendary!! So many cool MVs to check out, View, Tell en what to do and 1 of 1 are 🤩Also would be good if you checked out their personalities with a guide or something, so you can get to know how amazing they are!
I know right OMG TAEMIN had so much hair, I miss it but he can rock any hairstyle; Ive been trying to get my hair very similar to that for years but it was epic fail.
😥😥😥I miss my @5:57 bling bling jongie so much but I see his presence everyday in each of his brothers (members) especially TAEMIN. They debuted in 2008 as a five member group but no one foreseen that they would end up losing their beloved Jong-Hyun to suicide on Dec 18 2017, he sadly couldn't mentally handle life or negativity from ANTIs anymore and because of all the hatred, death threats and false news spread about them ever since they became a group; it became too much for Oppa Jong-Hyun on top of what he was mentally going through already. As a SHAWOL since day one, I will be with SHINee until the end no matter what. *Lol honestly I wasn't too crazy about their KEY hairstyle, I don't what their stylist was thinking of when he or she was doing his hair.* I miss allot of their old eras when there was physically five but in our hearts and the members #SHINeeISFIVE forever, even though there is four remaining members.
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Lucifer is not bad. My boy Taemin got great moves for the maknae of the group. Yeah the choreo is nice here. Love Taemin's pretty hair. The layered look really suits him. He so pretty. Best smile to me as well. Like hit fit. They look like bad boys, lol. Love Replay. It's my fav song by them. SM actually does have a universe. Shinee i hear has a universe and hidden stuff. U can see some of it in Don't Call Me i think. Don't remember the storyline but Bang PD used to work for SM. He took that idea and used it for his agency too. Genius. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
Howdy! Stopped by your channel a while back while on a BlackPink journey last year. Appreciate your reactions to their stuff. If you react to any new girl groups at some point in the future, I wanted to plug a favorite group of mine. Their name is *Dreamcatcher* ! They are a seven member K-pop girl group that debuted in 2017. Known for their darker concepts (serious, dystopian, and/or spooky) and for being the only group to incorporate rock into all of their title tracks in some manner. Their earlier rock sound was heavily influenced by J-rock/pop (anime intro vibes). As time went on, their rock sound evolved into a more modern rock sound and they started mixing/blending in other genres. Almost all of their MVs are story driven. Some storylines span multiple MVs and others are standalone. All amazing vocalists (even their two rappers). Easily one of the most unique groups you'll experience in K-pop. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd suggest one of these two songs as a starter depending on what interests you more: - "BEcause" (2021) - Latest title track. Creepy. Song lyrics are about obsessive love and the MV concept involves doppelgangers. The MV and choreography were partially inspired by, and have some references to, the movie "Us". - "Scream" (2020) - First song in their "Dystopia" trilogy. The trilogy addresses and calls out anonymous harassment, bullying, and obsession with technology to try and escape that tough reality. It's all handled with well thought out lyrics and a load of symbolism in the MVs. (Make sure basic English subtitles are selected. You should see the members' names in the subtitles.) If you decide to give them a chance, a pre-emptive thank you. If they're not your vibe, it's all good. 🙂 I was a bit of a heathen the last time I visited and didn't give people likes or subs. This has been corrected! Again, thanks for the reactions!
Taemin has a lot of solo stuff too you should react to his debut song Danger and his other songs like want, criminal, idea and the most iconic song by taemin move that song was the biggest push for K-pop industry!!
Check out onew on the show he did last year called sea of hope. Also watch for his ost song release in next couple of weeks for the k Drama forecasting love and weather which in now on Netflix. An he has an album coming out sometime this year
