I love Spirit. Allows me to see my family and with the money I save I’m able to take them out to dinner. I always travel with a water bottle and refill it when waiting for the plane. Personal carry on is enough for me because I already have clothes at my parents house. The planes are new and yes they have delays but I’m okay with that saving hundreds roundtrip.
They do seem to selectivity apply their anti trust laws! Spirit and JetBlue are an issue, but Disney controlling the majorjy of media companies is ok..m
This would be bad for me, I live 5 minutes from ACY and they basically only fly spirit, they would probably go out of business or the route of ACY to MCO would be cut and we would have to go to Philadelphia, which is not only a longer flight to Orlando (I have family in Florida and they fly up and we fly down to see them) but it’s also wayyy less convenient
I mean, it's effectively a monopoly. Boeing is too big to fail for the US government. People might say McDonnell Douglas merger killed it but I see it as a small factor. When you also help with military technology, and are the only US manufacturer of planes, you have a lot of weight. Suppliers can only really sell to you and you can sell your planes to US operators at a discount. Even if a company wants to move, Airbus can't keep up with all the orders. Not to mention their order books are still filled back into the 2030s. that would also require a lot of pilot training, maintenance training, replacement and scrapping of replacement parts. Embrarer (#3 in plane manufacturers) could make a jet which they have the E2 but again there is a training and maintenance issue, not to mention that plane is restricted by the scope clause by pilot unions. Lockheed Martin tried to make commercial planes but as good as they were, and they were better, they weren't commercially successful and they're not going to go for a third. Boeing has too many "homefield" advantages and they would need another home player to keep them in check, problem is, that home player will probably be ended before it even began.
Spirit also uses a different model than the others. In the US, most customers prefer packages while Europe has a la carte setup. This is also helped by other modes of transportation like rail. With Europe being dense, air travel isn't the only way to travel. Spirit will need a change of their business model which won't work without other advances in travel and transportation modes.
I've been screwed by almost every airline at least once. Spirit included. But it's the only one I couldnt get too mad at since it saves me so much money.
Even a bad choice is a choice in the world of competition. If Spirit goes by by the airfares will go up and up.

DOJ to blame for this mess, the day they blocked JetBlue’s merger, I knew Spirit was gone.

If no more Spirit Airlines then we have less riot videos and brawl videos to enjoy from the Atlanta and Detroit passengers.

They just didn't want Airbus airlines to succeed in the US.

Really? A lot of families depend on this company to be around. Pretty arrogant of you to say that.
You should never wish misfortune upon anyone.
