    Lancasters were also made at the Avro shadow factory at Yeadon (Leeds/Bradford) airport. The building still exists. Good luck with your preservation efforts. The Canadians were based locally in various locations in North Yorkshire and we do not forget them or their sacrifice.

    Every Lancaster deserves to be preserved to airworthiness or static display under cover from the weather. This plane looks relatively intact and needs to be saved

      @soaringtractor There's only two Avro Lancasters that airworthy. One in the UK, "Thumper" and one in Hamilton ON, "VeRA" which is undergoing repairs in B.C. in 2018. Lancasters were made at Victory Aircraft Ltd, in Malton, ON.

      @@negevsareforpros9250 Buddy you maybe right, if the Lancaster that's flying in this video at 0:20 is the one in the link that i provided, then its not the one in this video, but that also could be the British one too at 0:20, so i am not too sure now you have mentioned it, in the link that i provided at 1:31 in that video, the 2 gentlemen talk about the plane, and they say they found the Lancaster outside of a army base sitting on a pedestal in Ontario, the guy even say's it was the biggest birds nest in Ontario, so 'that's why i thought it was this plane, but there could be 2 of them, if there are 2 army base's in Ontario that would have them outside on a pedestal, also this video is old so it could be the one also

      The Lancaster arrow is made by the Canadian company of Lancaster in the 1950's.But Avro was still a original British company created by Alliot Verdon Roe.

      @@charliepearson4944 Canada also had De Haviland of Canada which produced many DH aircraft similar to what the Australian firm did during the wartime years and in later years changed its name to Hawker De Haviland and even produced outboard boats! On that note Australia, at one stage during the war was seriously thinking about building the Lancaster, but the path of the war and other factors curtailed that idea. So the Lincoln was built here instead which I think the Canadians made one of before pulling the plug and scrapping the aircraft.

    I think I speak for all aviation nuts this and every other of the 17 airframes must be saved the ones that are in the open should be under cover there is one in West Australia in similar condition these aircraft are too important to let rust away and Canada could do with a 2nd restored example Go Canada

    • @timorvet1
      @timorvet1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mk VII in WA at Bull Creek has been under cover for many years, and is in beautiful condition with work carried out over a long period to to bring her back up to wartime standard. With saving all 17 airframes, im not sure where your coming from with this one. The Lancaster is treasured by those organisations across the world whom either operate in flying condition, or house the aircraft in museums. Canada has the biggest population due to its long service and preservation on retirement...(hats of to the Canadians)....and these should all be in from the cold now and either on display, flying, or going through a lengthy restoration to their former glory.
