Some lessons learned: Only keep one male and 2 or 3 females in each tank or divided section. Otherwise the males fight nonstop! If you remove the eggs from the cave, use an egg tumbler to help prevent fungus. The Java Ferns were the only plants that my larger plecos didn't tear up. And try to only breed Bristlenose of the same variety / color, to get offspring that are worth more. Super reds, blue eyes, green dragons, and long fins are more valuable and easier to sell. If you are planning on breeding, make sure you have enough capacity to hold all the babies as they grow for at least 6 months, and make sure you have a place to sell them!

I’ll be breeding my two longfinned bristlenoses soon and this was a great help!
I just found some eggs yesterday, so part two is in the works! If this is a success, I'll be setting up separate breeding tanks for long fin, blue eye, super red, green dragon, etc. You'll have to keep my updated on how your breeding goes!

Also, it's better to have different sex ratio than yours, you should have more females to male. It produces more offspring, and also females are not being harassed. Other than that, really beautiful setup for them to live in. Good job.

I've had one female albino bristlenose in my planted 30 gallon for almost 2 years now. I've had her since she was barely longer than my thumb nail and she's now I'd say just under 4 inches. Does a great job cleaning up algae but she's a poop machine and nipples on my plants from time to time.lots of character and actually sleeps on her back LOL.
I think your two "P's" are maybe sleeping on their back as well? "Nipples"...? 😂

Sorry, but that is not true..
keep more males than females... the male keeps the frie and not the female. but you have to get at least one hidding spot for each male..
Leave 1 male with the fry at least for a month. Transfer the female between males but keep the males seperate. Males are very maternal with plecos so they protect the fry.

Loved watching all parts...I just find Plecos so interesting...i have an albino...a long fin and normal BN....they look like all females..my long fin..is a female as she dpesnt have the bristles on the nose..but still likes to live in her cave.

I have never realized that the Bristlenoses could get so voluminous in the bristle area!
It happens when they been kept in small enclosures to long.

Pretty decor.i have,the black pleco u have in your tank. I too bought a PVC pipe.I need to buy plants. My pleco loves the Indian almond leaves I buy at Amazon. The nice big leaves. Get some for yours too! Keep us posted great video.

Thank you for the video! I have a 37 gallon with mollies, Pecos, and neon & black skirt tetras. The mollies have been breeding like crazy, but this week we found a baby Pleco. Now we found a clutch of eggs being protected by a male albino bristlenose. Can you share the link for the Terra Cotta caves?

Can you breed bristle nose pleco with different colors?

Very easy to breed. They say breeding set because pretty much you put a sexual mature pair together and bam you hit eggs. New sub!
Still working out the kinks with this group, think I have too many males and not enough sexually mature females. Part 2 coming soon!

As long as your filter won't suck up the fry when they come out, then yes!
Foisy Thank you for reply very kind...I left cave with male in separate aquarium with pump and heater and now as I see there are fry here and there with little yellow yolks swimming around...

Okay so now I have a question for you fish breeders. The parents spawn, have babies, what do you do you do with the parents. Leave em with the fry? Or remove them? I've removed them but they cause problems In my display tank each time they spawn.. these r convict cichlids I'm breeding

Ull want to separate the males during breeding cuz the rival male will try to kill the eggs and injure or kill ur chosen male for breeding rights also u need 2 females for 1 male that way he can choose who to breed with and so ur female doesnt get worn out.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure, I've only bred these in tanks smaller than 40 gallons and now only keep 1 male and 1-2 females per tank
