Whenever I'm feeling depressed or extra down I listen to this ending or mgs1 or mgs4s ending and it instantly makes me feel better. Snake is a one of a kind character brought to life by an overly talented David hayter. I will always cherish this character in my heart. Thank you David and thank you hideo
@@mm70969 I still regard it as the best video game series ever made honestly. Very few games tell a great cohesive story that turns into a masterpiece. Love him or hate him but we should all respect hideo Kojima as an artist.
My dad played this game when I was a baby. Now I'm 21 and I played it using the same cd he used to play this with, the other day my dad got so happy and emotional seeing me play this, he thanked me even because watching me play this brought back some good old memories for him. I finished playing MGS2 just earlier and I can't stop listening to the beautiful message at the end of the video. I think I will write this down and hang it on my wall so I can see/read it everyday. Now I'm feeling emotional too, it was a beautiful experience playing this game.
I played this back in mid 2000s,and back then i was unable to fully comprehend what going on,watching this im lucky to be able to play it as part of my growing phase and realizing all the deeper underlying themes and message it has
It's a beautiful touch that both Raiden and Solidus attached a special significance to Federal Hall and April 30th. Really fits the theme that what you value doesn't have a right or wrong answer; just how hard you believe in it and your willingness to fight for it.
Looking back on this, I realized that not only this game was well thought out and one of the best games for PS2, but a lot of lives where lost in this game. Furthermore, everyone was just being used from the beginning and fell into the Patriots trap.
I used to live on 15 Broad Street right across from Federal Hall and it's absolutely stunning how faithfully they recreated the area. 7:47 is literally the building I lived in, that rooftop being a large terrace I'd hang out in. Also kind of funny that Arsenal made it all the way there because that is A LOT of land and buildings for it to plow through and people are just strolling around five 9/11s worth of destruction. Anyways, MGS2 is by far the video game that uses NYC as a setting in the most beautiful way, even if it's only at the end. Connecting the themes of the game to IRL clips of a city that I've lived in for most of my life touches me in a way that all the other games that just use the streets of Manhattan as a backdrop for shootouts don't.
During the end credits (around the time Raiden looks at his dogtags) ,the camera will pan to reveal a taxi in the background. Vamp is visible in front of the taxi if the zoom function is used.
There’s a trophy for the PSVita collection for that. If you tap the screen to zoom in on Vamp in the 5 seconds that he appears, you get the trophy called “Vamp Eyer”
All these years later and this is still the most powerful ending to a video game ever. I haven't played a game since that has given me such an existential crisis during the final battle, yet hopeful and inspiring message at the end. I hope that this game's themes are able to be passed on to future generations of players. I guess that was the whole point of the game, wasn't it?
11:22 Also. I beat this game hundreds of times as a kid and never noticed. Heard about it and just had to come back and see. 20 years later, this game is still blowing my mind.
@@artophile7777 pardon me i didn't noticed the autocorrect in my list. I mean Metal Gear Ghost Babel(it wasn't considered canon though but the story make them worthwhile)
What a beautiful ending. We will never see games of this caliber in our lifetime ever again. Tragic, but beautiful that we at least got to experience it before the world went upside down. God bless you all.
Looks like the police officers don’t even care Arsenal Gear crashed into the city they’re more worried about Solidus‘s body and how they’re running towards him are like “We got a man down! We got a man down! We gotta save him!”
You're the sorry one bud. This game is a masterpiece and if you didn't understand the ending, you legit aren't smart enough to understand how the modern world works. I'm not trying to insult you, it's just the truth.

"To Let The World Be" - The Boss
The Philanthropy’s motto, too.
FUCK that. Thats apathetic as fuck. Solid Snake changed for the worst.
One of the things that made this so important to watch was that this game although created before 9/11, was released post 9/11
Makes me tear up thinking about it

Not because it ended.
But because you had the chance to live through it.
Ill always remember the day I noticed Vamp hanging out in the background when you throw your dog tag away lol. Very subtle.
11:22 You telling me that for 20 years Vamp has just been standing there this whole time? Menacingly!
On the PS3 HD collection it’s a trophy hahaha

This is the real end, 3,4 and 5 fuck all the saga
What?? 3 is fine. 4 is the real problem.
dead on
4 was okay, imo. 5 is okay as well but it takes way too damn long for me. Should've just played the classics on a Playstation emulator first.
Agreed 2 is the best.
@Dagoth Ur 5 is not that bad if you avoid those extra missions also its incomplete 4 is good tho
