    You forgot to mention that if you used solar energy, you would not need those inverters as much thus saving 10%-20% of conversion from AC-DC. Also this would become a very portable setup to deploy outside when sun is shinning, else batteries are included in the phone so it makes it even more portable.
    If possible to turn of the screen, you would save even more energy.
    And if you would connect to internet trough Bluetooth, phones would save even more energy compared to WIFI, I don't think there would be any latency.
    USB wires would save the most, you could try to connect it even to PC and just connect trough USB to internet.
    Instead of Buying invertors, just use PC: it would provide power and internet. But it won't be a portable setup.
    *Bonus: IT IS VERY SCALABLE. if you would own a roof Therese or a land, you can deploy lots of portable solar panels with these phones outside. Energy cost would be 0, but it will be dependent on sun. But if you like to do the effort, you could bring them inside home later - undeploy them. It might sound tedious, but if you have like 100 solar panels that bring you 1 dollar each per day, than I would not complain at all. It would become like a beekeeping hobby.

      lol... your talking about 1200 dollars just in phones.. and the hashrate is going up pretty quickly for a coin that is hardly transferable, with little use cases... If you think the price is going to spike.. buy 1200 dollars of verus, and wait for the bull market for the coin to appreciate. and as far as buying 100 sollar panels.. your better off just selling the power you make off that massive investment to aquire the 100 solar panels back to the grid.. thats assuming that you have the land or the space to deploy 100 solar panels... and coming from a solar farm/house your looking into the 10-20k range to set up a pannel set up like that not including inverters, battery banks charge controlers and what not.. just to power your phones.... people do it for bitcoin mining sure.. because they are 200k into it with land and when mining drops below profitablility they sell the power back to grid. plus the cost of installation and everything... lol dont set up a solar farm to farm something less valuable then solar itself.. you dont see big companies buying up acres of land to set up solar.. just to power a niche coin that could go knowwhere.

      That’s how I mine everything I used to own a solar company that I sold last year so I was able to set myself up at cost and mine with free energy! I love the sun 🌞 and also Verus has the possibility to 100x in this next bull run…. I would say that at minimum 10x.

      It's been found that buying almost any ASIC like a bitmain 19s pro makes you more than the power company will pay you. There is a guy I know that is off grid at his house and was selling his left over power back to the grid at something like 5 cents a kw/h. He found a used L3 and started merge mining and makes over 20 times for the extra power by turning the miner on for only 3 hours a day

    Actually buying the phone unlocked could be a good idea, you could easily root the phone and use a real "smart charging" app which will only charge your battery if it goes below a specific threashold and then stop charging and let it discharge when it goes over a specific threshold. This will extend your battery lifespan significantly :)

    As an engineer who has spent 30 years designing power systems for portable devices, with emphasis on batteries and battery safety circuitry, I can say your comment regarding Li-Polymer vs Li-Ion, is just not true. The batteries swell, or as you said "puff up", when the electrolyte decomposes. This typically occurs as the batteries age and the anode to cathode ratios have changed, resulting in chemical system changes that overvoltage the electrolyte. Electrolyte decomposition occurs in all Li carbon based batteries, of which both Polymer and non-polymerized cells are carbon based anode. Your best bet for getting long cycle life from the cells is to charge them to only 80% and discharge to only about 15%. Most damage occurs as the battery is taken to the lower or higher voltages, so keeping it outside those extremes will result in longer life.

    • @dleff4923
      @dleff4923 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is very interesting. Are you aware of any apps or external components that can control the charge of a cell phone?

      @@dleff4923 Apple has made changes with iOS18. Under Settings - Battery Health & Charging, on newer phones there is an alternative to Optimized Battery Charging, which was waiting until only fully charging your pack shortly before it normally gets taken off a charger. The new OS allows users to limit the percentage the pack gets charged to. I believe that charging your pack for normal usage cases to only 90% should result in better cycle life for most users.

    Battery is kinda hazard in this farm. Hacking connector or straight cable soldering for power should be great - less power loss. Battery usually have 3 pins. VCC, NTC and GND. You can trick phone to think that battery temperature is fine by adding 10k resistor between GND and NTC. Just like that you save power by cutting of middleman (battery). Also, in every phone, screen is most power hungry. Dim them as low as you can or disconnect screen by opening it after everything is set up. Add VNC or other to be able to remote access your phones without screen. I know it's risky but your cost will go down, keeping same performance. If you want to know more, leave comment with some contact info.

      This is very insightful. Do you have any videos breaking down this process anywhere?

      @@dleff4923 Check "LM2596 Android battery". But idea is simple - fully charged battery supply 4.2V. That's VCC pin with "+" marking. You also need GND with "-" marking. You can generate 4.2V having 5V from USB using LM2596 module. So you left with center pin - NTC. For security reason phone battery got temperature sensor, so it will not overheat during charging. This sensor is simple - change resistance (Ohm) based on temperature. In room temperature it should be around 10k Ohm between NTC (center pin) and GND. So to trick phone that everything is fine with temperature measurement you just add 10kOhm resistor between NTC and GND. So phone thinks that battery temperature is fine, allowing phone to turn on with only "+" and "-" hook up

If he used the $1200 to buy coins instead he could get 1578 coins. As of todays coin prices at $0.39 you could buy 3076 coins. My point here is it would take him a little more than two years of nonstop mining to obtain coins at $0.79 or if at $0.39 4.2 years. This isnt figuring in downtime or electricity costs, and mining difficulty over time. Seems like it would smarter to buy than mine

    Why do you use new low end phones instead of used flagships? Yeah they're only like $50 each but something like an S10/S10e is only about $100 used and is atleast 3x faster with similar efficiency, you could even get ones with cracked screens or defects for probably around $50 as well. There's plenty with the dead OLED pixels that almost no one wants, this would be a perfect 2nd life for them.

    • @RetroMikeTech
      @RetroMikeTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a personal preference. I always encourage others to use cracked screens or otherwise damaged phones for mining. I'm just super particular with my setup and wanted a very specific battery chemistry that's in the A03S and A04

    Certainly phone because of power consumption, which is not as much with a mobile as with a PC ?

    • @RetroMikeTech
      @RetroMikeTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Phone is better for power consumption, but PC is better for overall flexibility. I like phones for verus mining because once I set them up, I’m not tempted to move them onto something else.

    • @RetroMikeTech
      @RetroMikeTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DIY0815 it’s generally much higher on PC’s, but also much higher power consumption. My PC with a Ryzen 5950x gets around 40mh/s but consumes well over 100w. A phone does about 4mh/s at 3w.
