Chuck not telling Jimmy about Mom saying his name was more about Chuck saving himself an embarrassing moment, rather than caring about Jimmy's feelings imo
I don’t think it’s embarrassment, I think it’s pain and resentment. Chuck did everything right and struggles to make connections with anyone. Jimmy does everything wrong and everyone loves him. Even their own their own mom only said “Jimmy” when she died, not “Chuck”. It’s that building unacknowledged resentment that makes Chuck work against Jimmy behind his back to deny him a role at HHM. It’s the same thing happening with this scene, Chuck is so resentful of the adoration Jimmy gets that he doesn’t think Jimmy deserves to hear his mother’s last cry for him.
Mike sparing the driver got an innocent person killed and Hector killed the driver anyway. Remember before the train robbery, Mike said two kinds of heists are those getting away with it and those leaving witnesses.
The reason Chuck didnt tell Jimmy about his mom was not to spare his feelings but out of jealousy and spite. He didnt want Jimmy to know that their mom clearly loved and wanted Jimmy more, especially in her last moments. Chuck is more selfish than you may see him as
This.. So many reactors cut out a lot of Chuck's scenes, but to me he is probably one of if not the best character in this show. And his relationship with Jimmy is so interesting, and says a lot about why Jimmy is the way he is. Also Michael McKean acts the hell out of his scenes. So fun to watch.
Masterpiece from start to finish! Omg those first and last scenes are genius writing!! I had to wait MONTHS for season 3, it felt so much longer than that tho 😅
No, nothing Chuck does is for anyone but himself. He didn't try to spare Jimmy's feelings. He was sparing himself humiliation from his mother wanting his brother and not him in her dying moments.
Anyone saying this proves that Chuck is as bad as Jimmy is severely downplaying Jimmys actions and going overboard to vilify Chuck. The opening scene was intended to shed some light on why Chuck has building resentment towards Jimmy, and the recorder was a very simple way to catch Jimmys lies. not prove that he’s “slippin Chuck.” But I think the fan base really struggles with having any empathy for chuck whatsoever because bias for the protagonist. Anyways I appreciate that you try to feel for both sides, it’s a complicated relationship and definitely sad
Sucks to see so many arguments over whether Chuck lied to Jimmy about their mother's last words to spare his feelings or out of resentment, becasue it means youre missing the point and complexity of their relationship, psychologies and interactions. It's not definitively one or the other, in fact it could be both, and the speculation is what should paint our image of Chuck and Jimmy's relationship, not our presumption that we know exactly what Chuck is thinking.
I can't remember where I heard it, it may have been a director commentary thing, but I remember Vince or Peter said something like, "Mom always loved Chuck, but Jimmy could make her laugh."
I initially thought Chuck not telling Jimmy about their mom was sparing him grief, but we're talking about Chuck, who was totally resentful. These two brothers go through it. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait a whole year to go to the next season... at least through the first four. I picked up BCS in real time after that, so the remaining season finales and that mid-season break were hard to take, knowing there was a big gap. I can't wait for your next reaction, which I'm loving.
This is going to be a really weird comparison, but I kind of see Jimmy turning into Saul similar to Anakin turning to Vader. For the most part they start off with good morals and want to do the right thing but slowly become more and more corrupte morally.
Again we see a big part of why Chuck is against Jimmy. Even though he was the dutifull son and did right by their parents till the end his mother still only wanted Jimmy after he just left while not acknowleding Chuck at all. This would undoudebly mess with your head. Even though Jimmy did all kinds of shady shit he had the charisma that Chuck never had and while Chuck did everything by the book he never got anything from it. Chuck still sticks to his way but he also wants to punish Jimly for getting away with things for so long. Also you have to wonder if Jimmy really tought that Chuck would just let things go or if he was just saying that so he would not look as guilty because he should know how stoubborn Chuck is.
Everyone who comments is very commonplace about Chuck. The characters in the Breaking Bad universe are more complex than a simplistic analysis of "The Jealous One", "The Cheater". Is Chuck actually jealous of Jimmy's charisma? I think so, the series leads to that. But is that the only thing that makes him treat his brother with contempt and coldness? No, in my opinion, he actually loves the law, he loves justice, he is an excellent lawyer and he sees that his brother does not correspond to this profile, in fact, he is far from being honest in his profession, let's be honest. So, Chuck combines his disgust at having been the neglected son while seeing that his brother, even with questionable character and procedures, is the most beloved and is also about to practice law, perhaps succeed, but not live up to the law. Anyway, understanding this, we don't condemn Chuck so much. We tend to defend Jimmy, because we also fall for his charisma. I could analyze Jimmy, his defects and qualities, but that will be for the next seasons.
Made it almost an hour and a half since the video posted before some miserable person posted a spoiler. Comment readers be warned if you haven't watched the show!
Great reaction! Chuck used Jimmy's love and admiration for his brother against him. Chuck is more like Slippin' Jimmy than he would care to believe. His obsession is turning him into Slippin' Chuck. Only difference is his obsession won't let him go outside the law. SIDENOTE: Michael McKean's acting is through the roof!!!! Cliffhangers left for both Jimmy & Mike in this episode.
OMG, I never made the connection until now and I can't say anything without spoiling something. Just remember this post and I'll bring it up when its important later on.
Chuck's resentment is what kept him from telling Jimmy what he deserved to know. He damn sure wasn't sparing Jimmy's feelings. The only feelings that man is concerned with is his own.
So he should’ve told him? “Oh hey Jimmy, I know you just found out your mom died after you left her on your death bed, but guess what? Her last words were your name, and you didn’t hear it. Well, enjoy your sandwich.
Season 2 is the weakest of the series IMO but still pretty damn good. I’d personally rank the seasons 6,5,3,4,1,2 but all are great. Can’t wait til season 3.
I see you are up to S3 E2 so you know Gus left the note on Mike's car. If you rearrange the first letter of every S2 episode title...it spells "Fring's Back" 👍
Why was mike not willing to kill tuco but willing to kill Hector? He said if tuco is dead that would attract attention, well Hector is higher ranked than tuco, that would attract even more attention. And mike didn’t have to kill tuco at the restaraunt. He could have done some investigating and fioumd out when tuco would be alone/at the desert hideout and kill him then. I know Hector threatened mikes family, but Mike doesn’t seem like a guy to do things based on emotions. He’s very calm And calculated character. It seemed out of place for him to want to kill Hector
This show isn't just about how Jimmy McGill transforms into Saul Goodman, it's also about how Mike goes from being an ex-cop who only wants to live a low-key life and be there for his granddaughter to being the main enforcer of the biggest drug trafficking operation in the southwest.

I mean it was still really good with the Jimmy vs Chuck stuff and Mike's plotline starts to grow.I kinda prefer season 1 to so this is like an 8.5/10.
Chuck not telling Jimmy about Mom saying his name was more about Chuck saving himself an embarrassing moment, rather than caring about Jimmy's feelings imo
If u never had a brother, youll never get this meaning

Completely disagree, it was pure spite
Chuck made his parents proud, but Jimmy made them laugh. Chuck is jealous.
@@SteffBrockley this exactly. Chucks feelings are understandable and valid even tho he didn’t handle them the best way
Mike sparing the driver got an innocent person killed and Hector killed the driver anyway. Remember before the train robbery, Mike said two kinds of heists are those getting away with it and those leaving witnesses.
👀
10:04 I LOVE that Primate noted the “Weasel” ad after Jimmy’s commerci! I never noticed that, it has to be intentional
The reason Chuck didnt tell Jimmy about his mom was not to spare his feelings but out of jealousy and spite. He didnt want Jimmy to know that their mom clearly loved and wanted Jimmy more, especially in her last moments. Chuck is more selfish than you may see him as
Now the REAL FUN begins. Season 3 is a masterpiece and it only gets better from there. You're in for a WILD ride.
Love how each season gets better and better
Yes, this was a huge cliffhanger for us to wait on, with the tape recorder and the “Don’t” message.
You’re gonna love season 3.
The struggle was real!
I Love the way they edit the chuck scenes, it really gives the audience a fantastic way to see how chuck feels

Omar and Ernie. The real MVP's of the show.
Love your reactions, man. You always manage to capture details and plot points without overbearing feigned reactions. Keep it up!
Thanks!
Masterpiece from start to finish! Omg those first and last scenes are genius writing!! I had to wait MONTHS for season 3, it felt so much longer than that tho 😅
cant wait for season 3 reaction things really start ramping up 😁

Our boy Ernie is the best. I love how he covered up for Jimmy.
This why we say s3 is where stuff reallyyy picks up in pace. a true rollercoaster ride is about to ensue for the last 3 seasons
Hun guy was from Breaking Bad … the guy who gives Walt the gun

Was so happy to see that tape recorder 😂
Man what an end to a season! Also Noti

5:55 STOKELY!
After season 3, the wait was two years. 😂 In between was when El Camino was released. Season 5, 2020 happened. 😂
This is going to be a really weird comparison, but I kind of see Jimmy turning into Saul similar to Anakin turning to Vader. For the most part they start off with good morals and want to do the right thing but slowly become more and more corrupte morally.
And one might say that both hate sand.
It’s all uphill from here. The show will only reach new highs as you go on. Enjoy it man! Looking forward to your reactions

Cliffhangers left for both Jimmy & Mike in this episode.
This episode shows beyond a doubt that Chuck can be a conman too. Just as effectively as Jimmy. Slipping Chuck.

Chuck smacking his head last episode was so satisfying
Hello! :D

If you sort the S02 episodes titles in the right order, your going to have a huge S03 foreshadowing.
