No, this is why it's not a good idea to correct big scary dudes. Asking why he got the discount was fine but he should have just said, "Oh ok" and walked away instead of correcting the guy.
This was already a RTAA..
And when the big scary guy finds out you've been ripping him off, what would you do then? Probably get a few knife scars of your own that's what.

I try to put myself in his shoes and see where it all went wrong, but I can't find it. I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt here.
Me and my friends have a place where we get a bowling discount because the guy "knows" us. The thing is though we never knew any guy. Long ago someone out of pity on an extremely free weekday gave us the discount and we kept getting the discount from him. Then the management changed or something and we just said that we used to get discount ll the time cuz we knew the guy and we got the discounts again. So at this point there have been at least 5 different guys who we have told that we knew the guy who used to work here before them and gotten the discount every single time. And we keep the old receipts just in case one of these days the new guy doesn't "believe" us

There are exceptions I will makes for stuff like this. If he was giving me discounts because of mistaken Identity I could not go along with it for moralities sake. But like if someone prices something wrong so something I bought is cheaper or if I accidentally get something extra then I take it because they should have paid attention.
I'd just take it. Cheap food is hard to find, and I'm good at supressing the "This is bad, don't do it" Part of my brain. I'm taking his food not killing him or anything lol

Twice a week for three months is roughly 26 times to the bar. Four burgers each time. Twelve dollars per burger.
That's 1248 dollars in food.
And the guy was giving about a 70 to 80% discount...
So that's between 900 and 1000 dollars in free food.

I had something like that happened at my local grocers because I had the same last name as the owner and I would sometimes mention my dad. Lo and behold one time the guy who kept offering me discounts on my soda purchases goes “you’re not the boss’ son”. I reply “I never said I was”. He goes “You said you were Mr. LAST NAME’s son”, and I go “No, I said i’m Dr. LAST NAME’s son, the guy who owns the medical business just across the parking lot.” Literally this guy’s doctor, he never put two and two together.

I went to that same place after Geoff recommended it on a panel at RTX. I wonder if that guy was standing in the room twirling chain around to give Geoff a "friendly" reminder.
Oh god as soon as you said "restaurant/bar" I knew exactly where you were talking about. I love that you animated the place accurately with the staircase right behind the window!! That place is sketchy AF but it's damn good food. LOL
When I worked at Home Depot I found out that the shopping mall it was in gave discounts to workers in the business there. But eventually some places started noticing too many people were claiming to work in the shopping mall. They kept giving discounts but now asked to see your employee ID from the store you worked at.
Geoff's stories are always the best.

WoW I have been watching RTAA for a good long while and the animation is just getting better and better. When I watch these I say to myself I wish this stuff happened to me or something like it. But theres like nothing cool to exploxe in commack NY the only things that are cool to explore are the sump near my house or the abandon insainin aslum in kings park NY. Thst place is crazy like the ceeling colasbed parts of it are flooded it bassicllty everything you would see at a place that abandon. (sorry for the spelling errors)

I like how usually, Ryan's the "evil conscience" very well-deserving of his title - the Mad King; but in this scenario, he's the voice of reason.
He stopped going there for a while, but did he ever go back is the question everybody should be asking.
Geoff just has the worst luck with stuff like that - first the electro-punching tow driver, then this.
In all honesty what Geoff did was alright and he did good to set it straight. It would make me feel bad, he did exactly what I would've done, only I probably would've given him a bigger tip than $60 out of fear at that point

SO, during RTX one year my friends and I were looking for a place to eat, we decided burgers sounded good and there was a place near the hotel that sounded really familiar (we figured we must have gone there a previous year and forgotten about it) so we start making our way there, and we see the dude standing out in front of the place and he looks EXACTLY like the character in this video and that's when it clicked, we knew the name of the place because of this story, and we promptly got turned away at the door because happy hour had already begun and a member of our group was underage.

Everyone has a fair point here. Especially after watching Geoffs full story. The only thing I might do differently than Geoff at that point would be to flex for RT, try and indicate the support you have and at that point it evens the playing field back to where the guy was comfortable with. You support me and I support you especially since Geoff liked them enough to continue to speak in their favor for the video they were in. It may have been awhile and the subject should've been brought up earlier but even explaining that during the tip could've evened things out.
