Some people say pennies are worthless; these people have never used a penny press before.
What most people don't realize is that you aren't actually using the penny you play in the press. Its actually filled with copper blanks and they keep the actual penny you put in.
Ive seen a few where you can almost make out the face of the penny on the reverse of the pressed penny.

I think some use decommissioned pennies too since technically defacing US currency is illegal.
Copper blanks with the same weight as pennies wouldn't be much cheaper than actual pennies, though.

During my time working at a theme park, I've found that a good practice to place found pennies on penny press machines so that someone could use it. Also, I've opened my drawer a number of times to get out pennies for people.

Right? This is my first time really hearing a podcast I've listened to be turned into an animation, it's a pretty neat feeling. I was wondering "where have I heard this before, wasn't this already uploaded?" and it hit me.
I like how Gus got into argument over a guy for two clean pennies over two dirties ones just so he could ruin one of them in the Penny Press.
When you make a request that is any way different from normal routine, people get confused as if they forgot how to follow any sort of logic.
Obviously, that cashier had the brain of a bird... he was entranced by the shininess.

The reason for the penny thing could be a few reasons. Either a new employee terrified of getting scammed or they have been told never to trade money from the registers and hes trying to figure out if that counts.
I haven't been to the US in years, and apparently the new back of the penny since 2010 is a shield! I was used to the old 2008-era Lincoln memorial ones before that.

at the strong museum of play here in rochester, they have a bunch of penny press machines in it, and next to the one by the front door is a change machine specifically for the penny press, for every dollar you put in you get back 4 quarters and either one or two pennies.
It's awesome, and also exploitable in the most incremental way XD

In his defense, any cashier worth their salt knows when customers start asking to exchange money you need to be on guard, because that's when people try to get shifty on you...

A guy wanted to give me a $100 bill for 5 $20s. He'd then give me 3 $20s for 1 of my $50 bills. Then he'd give his friend the $50 and he'd give him a $10 bill he owed him. He'd then give me 2 $20 in exchange for the $100 bill he originally gave me because I still owed him $10 from the $60 he gave me.
Jokes was on him. I twisted it back around, and by the end I took $10 from him.

As a former cashier, some coworkers are idiots. I've searched, if I had nothing else to do, for certain coins for collectors. At the end of day when counting the money in the register, no one cares. If the trade was equivalent, it still adds up.
Guess seems like the worst part of anyone's day he encounters.

I believe gus owning a gun was also addressed in a previous animated adventures. Also the fact that Geoff owns a shotgun from when he once took a box of shotgun shells to gus's house to show them off.
