I remember the down Horsham pass was terminated at Glenorchy due to bushfires ahead. I was travelling day return and decided to wait at Glenorchy. There was a station building and signal box that was operated by a lady who gave me a coffee and showed me in the signal box. Glenorchy was probably a staff station and conditional stop. The Western line then had automatic staff exchangers and the sections were manned for safeworking. I requested a refund for my truncated Horsham fare and I got a cheque for $16 in a short time. The VR didn’t quibble. A bushfire was clearly unexpected.
@@driver667 I was concerned that the up and down bus replacements might pass each other as I approached Horsham. I thought VR might argue that I didn’t travel on the offered bus. Another story, on one of the first tangerine N cars to Horsham, I was talking to the guard. The pass was not stopping at Glenorchy but there was a bundle of magazines for Glenorchy. The guard leaned out with the bundle over the speeding platform and let go. He told me it hit the door of the office, probably years of experience.
Yet another great video of the Western SG line Col. That straight stretch of track was giving me Ghan vibes with how long that straight went on for! Appreciate the upload legend. 👊😉
I went on a special from Lubcek to Bolangum, the line was 30 miles with a track speed of 10mph so took 3 hours in each direction. I noticed that the silos at Jackson can be seen at Lubeck. I read that the priest was allowed to ride a gangers trolley from Marnoo to Bolangum on Sundays. I take that with a grain of salt as the VR were strict about access, might have been unofficial. I read in the rules that a C class and train was allowed to set back on the Bolangum line one train length if it had to be put out of the way for any reason.
Óello to Putty Cat and driver 667, This coming Tuesday I am going in the hospital for an out-patient. I'll be home that same day in the afternoon.I'll be fine.

You had a nice day in Glenorchy instead and shown around the station. Not much there now. 🤔👍😀

Lubeck to Murtoa the longest straight stretch of line in Victoria?? I remember standing on the Murtoa platform and watching the train light for ages.
You could be right there. I do remember hearing something like that. Good job 👍😀

Thank you. Very happy you enjoyed it 👍 😀
nice clips as always. track looks a bit wonky at 2x playback on here. should be good enough for them to reinstate (more regular) passenger services.
