I have an old Samsung Home Theatre system from 2008, the dvd wasnt working and it was just the motor! It didnt even manually start spin, feels brand new again, I loved it because its region free and I have a lot of both Region 1 and 4 discs in my collection, thanks for the help ❤❤❤

Check cable and wire connections. Check if screw gear is turning. Might need lubricated.
People throw away lots of dvd player when it says no disc,but there are person to repair it. When a dvd player is taken in repair, the technician gets smart with you.

My Pioneer PD-4700 cd spindle motor has orange and yellow wires soldered to it, so if my replacement motor has red and black wires, does it make a difference which wire the red gets connected to?
Yes, because it will spin backward if you get it wrong.
Yellow with black, orange with red.

I’m trying to remove one of the 3 tiny screws that holds the spindle motor together. I had success with the first two but the 3rd won’t budge even when I try small screwdrivers. Any tips?

Can you get WD40 onto it?
Soldering iron. Get it hot. Touch it to the top of the screw for a few seconds, then quickly try turning it.
On my technics CD player write no Disc and not spinning motor. When i was opened the player I directly connect 5v to motor and he working normal. Its Maby defects capacitors on board?
Probably whatever motor driver supply chip they use.

I have that same player. The disc drive motor is fine, but the player often fails to start a disc, or it stops while playing, either with a pause then continues playing at some point by itself, or permanently; note that the disc continues spinning during these episodes. I found that if I press down on the rack drive motor (the one visible from the top in the rear corner of the play module) or the rear part of the surrounding structure it kicks back in and operates properly. It goes for a while but usually fails again at some point. It sometimes also has trouble skipping or going to a different track. I can't tell offhand whether it's a mechanical issue with rack drive jamming due to structural flex or something electrical (loose connection?) with the motor or another component. It's a bit impractical to leave the cover off and have to press on the rack motor or part of the structure every time it goes down. Any suggestion?
Try cleaning the laser lense with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol. Maybe it stops seeing the disc and that's why it shuts down and then kicks back on when you push down. Also unplug and then plug back in your cable bundles and ribbon cables. Let me know what you find.
@@becausestuffbreaks Thanks for getting back to me. It turns out it's the spur gear on the laser rack drive motor. The gear had split over time between two teeth, I assume due to the assembly press fit, and so meshes intermittently. Until I can find a replacement gear, if that's even possible, I loosened the motor screws and shimmed it to one side to allow a little mesh clearance where it was hanging up. Probably not ideal from a gear wear perspective, but seems to work for now. Pax Christi. 😉👍

@@guitarman_3693 Thanks guitarman. At some point after my temporary fix, the player acted up again, and I found it was due to the spur gear sliding on the shaft to the point where it disengaged from the mating gear. I ended up boring the spur gear hole very slightly to where the crack didn't open when installed on its shaft, then applying a small amount of E6000 adhesive to the shaft plus a small blob on the end of the shaft to prevent sliding. I was then able to remove the shim under the motor and fully secure it by tightening the screws. Works fine now!
Regarding your belt comment, I did find that useful on another player, a Technics SL-P101. The disc drawer on that unit was not opening properly due to stretch in the original belt. I bought a Sony blu ray used a long ago but putting a brand new dvd disc in the player it makes circles on my new disc so what is the problem with it it makes me not wanting to put any more disc in this player ever again
Eek. That's not good. The screws holding in the disc drive motor might be loose and causing the disc to drag on something inside. Either way, you'll have to take it apart and see what's scratching. Maybe there's foreign debris inside it.
Or maybe I’ve should have bought a new Sony blu ray dvd player because not knowing what the original owners did to it

I've just opened up my dvd player & cleaned the laser lens, but no luck & the disc still wont spin either. I dont know what else i can do, mine is a Sylvania & its only a couple months old. Please HELP me!😢
Probably the motor. Did you make sure all the cables and ribbon cables are seated in all the way?

@@becausestuffbreaks have been boycotting Amazon for years now. Have replaced my 12 year old dvd player, hooked up yesterday. Appreciate your response. My Bose sound bar went up too. They sent me new cables, but no😢. The cheapie dvd player lasted longer than the very expensive sound bar. Also hooked up new t.v. Don’t need a sound bar. Sorry in advance to the landfill. Sounds like a bad power supply or button. Have you tried the remote?

The black powder could be from the grommets or rubber -mountings.

More likely carbon brushes from that motor. It was directly under the bottom side of the motor, right where the brushes are located. That piece of copper laying there?... is also part of the brushes.
I tested the motor and it works.
Thx for this. I have a cheap $30 dvd player that wasn't reading discs. I was about to chuck it, but this video showed me that the problem was the motor. I keep the lid unscrewed now to manually kick the motor until it finally dies.

What's with all this religious stuff at the beginning of your video? If I want to search her find God or Jesus or read the Bible well I normally don't go to a fix it video on DVD players. ... I got a lot of problems with that stuff anyway like if you got it so infallible well then why did he banish Satan here? If we're God's purpose on this planet and we're made in God's image and God loves us and all that stuff why would he stick us with Satan why didn't he ban him to Pluto seems like the only smart thing to do.... And Adam and Eve the first humans were deceitful and betrayed God and then their offspring Able wasn't able to avoid the cane of Cane and there was murder....so you know God's not off to a very good start he should have stopped right then and there. he is a idiot, that one.
Or this was all part of his plan from the beginning. God wanted to make himself known to his creation. How can He show his unconditional love and forgiveness for His children without the fall? Or show His wrath and mercy without the fall? Sin and sinners suck, but they are supposed to suck. How would we know/experience that without the fall? I think morals for humans mostly were adopted from the Bible and if you don’t have morals, you shoot up school children, run over people at parades, plant bombs at parades, steal money from your constituents you’re supposed to be helping, cheat on your spouse, etc. Some people don’t have a moral compass and need an instruction manual, so to speak, to learn them. Some still don’t learn them and that’s what jails are for.
