Every little time period that went by, every year and a half let's say, Zeppelin just kept coming up with the goods!!! 1968-1980, my favourite time to be living your prime of your life!!!
Not to rub it in your noses. I saw them twice in Germany in 1980, when I was stationed there. 1st was the infamous Nuremburg show when Bonzo simply passed out after about three songs, During "Black Dog" you could see Bonzo was out of itI think. It was general admission and the venue was really small, about 2 or 3000 capacity. I got there early and was front and center. 2nd time was in Munich at the Olympic Arena. Best show I've ever seen! Scaled down, no big lite show. Old tunes. What a blast!
Sorta? Plant was settling into a new identity for himself vocally, and he seemed to really develop a comfort level in approaches pieces like these with command of his voice. I'd say the "Black Dog" performances from this era are probably his biggest shortcoming vocally. Page is CLEARLY more comfortable performing in front of the smaller crowds. You hear it not only in his playing and tuning, but his choice of effect (or minimal effect) on his guitar. REALLY demonstrates how precise and intricate of a player he could still be during his heroin years. Bohnam... he's holding it down here, definitely. But as others have pointed out, he's just not "there".
James Patrick Page + Robert Antony Plant + John Richard Baldwin + John Henry Bonham, the juggernaut of Valhalla, best band EVER. Greetings from Danmark 🤜 🇩🇰 🤛
I know this is a rather old post, but Plant wasn't as nearly excessive as he was in the early 70s. Here, his voice is smoother than in 73, not to mention Roberts later performances are filled with such emotion.
Steady decline from 73-83. 73 he was untouchable 75 still amazing but starting to drift, 77 OK WTF is going on, really drifting? 79 holy shit he can’t play,’ 80 OK, I mean he’s trying I guess, but damn he kinda sucks. 83 Oh remember him, shit man it’s sad.
@@alexduarterodriguez7928 I mean to a large degree his set up was abysmal. Idk how a tech can mess up 59 LP into a Marshall. If he had proper set up no one would really consider it a bad performance from Page. Go back a listen closely. End of WLL he nails it, stairway solo is solid better than most anything from 79-83. But that shit set up ruined it LOL
I never seen them but I wondered how they would sound with Jimi and Bonzo having issues at the time. Let me just say in the 80's I loved the song but now I just want to tell Robert to shut up dude Jimi is still my best influence when it comes to alternate tunings. It might get loud!
Jimmy is my favourite as well just by very little, then the 3 other stars, Robert, Bonzo and JPJ are In a heated race for 2nd, it's a dead heat!!! What superstars we were honoured with!!!

Robert sounds magnificent and bluesy on this.

Robert ripping it up!🔥🔥🔥
It's insane... how I love this band!!
Those ifs no body can imiteted
NOT TO RUB IT IN EVEN MORE IVE SEEN THEM SIX TIMES FROM 73 TO 77
Page is awesome here. A little sloppier than the early days but the soloing is interesting. It's kinda jazzy, really loose and free-form.
Perfect...
The best
plant was in good voice
Plant was so over the top here, like in many other concerts....

oh i love you baby oh how i love you baby.
you can hear Jonesy as much as Jimmy underneath this. i think of John Lord and Ritchie Blackmore somehow.
Another great one from '80. Too bad I can't find the whole show, but who says Jimmy lost his ability after 1973?

xDD That what you just write was some funny material!
But no, the sex that I was "having" was with Zeppelin music itself
Ginius
this when the must have still been together and then shortly afterwards bonham would have died
Jimmy is gonius
Bonzo, where are you? Keep going JPJ. Page and Plant show loss... Helium.

We love 0 dislikes lol
Well nobody fucks with me and I recycle lol
Zepplin on the way down...you can hear jimmy doesent find into the song, trying hard to find tones...think he was still on heroin those days...
Shawn Crowe Plant wasn’t, he said he quit everything cold turkey in 77
In that case, heroin does magic on them... I believe at least half of the world agrees with me?
