I’m on my 5th straight razor shave and it’s going great! I can notice myself getting better and better each shave!!! 💪🏻😁I attempted and successfully completed the “fools pass” today. I always remember people who use straights all the time saying that their skin is always nice and they don’t get irritation from Straight Razors and I never actually believed it until I started using one. I’ve been using Shavettes on and off for about 4 years and didn’t do too many full 3-pass shaves with them. I mainly use them to shape up my beard (when I have one), or I’ll pick them up occasionally for my pick-ups. In total, I probably only had about 10 full shaves , so not enough to really get a feel for how they felt. And I always use them sporadically I never use them for like a month straight like I’m doing now with my straight razor. But yeah so far so good, not even a weeper yet!!! -Also with straight Razors the feeling and the sound is so different than what I’m used to… even different than a Shavette. It’s really loud and it feels like it’s scraping but even though it sounds like that, it doesn’t hurt at all. Got used to the noise instead of trying to be overly careful, I just go for it, of course I’m still being mindful not to cut my face up, but you know what I mean. @@markmarks1904 It is more aggressive, so it's more efficient. It looks exactly the same, it just has a bigger blade gap and exposure. They have it on their site as the Twig-Thorn
@@markmarks1904 It feels the same as the Twig but you can feel the blade. Not at all less comfortable. I have both and only reach for the Twig when I have irritation or bumps that I don't want to irritate or cut. Thorn gives a nice closer shave.
The blades that come with all leaf razors are Astra Superior platinum, the ones from the green and white packet, made by P&G, my favorite and go to blade, nice video 👍

Great shave Ken, I came home with a sore back this evening. I hurt my back 10 years ago lifting a heavy piano down a steep stair it happened due to having someone inexperienced giving us a hand they thought it was a weight lifting competition and should have only been keeping the balance and raised the keyboard side too high. Great shave. I hurt my upper back just days before I was supposed to get a shave. I had to get some rest and sleep with a pillow underneath my back. It didn’t affect how I was shaving in any way thankfully. Illinois has reopened, but masks are still required in most places. Have a great day

If you're having back issues you should look into an inversion table that allows you to hang upside down at different angles which really decompresses the spine & feels good hanging just 5 minutes a day. You can find many on Amazon for $100-$150 (maybe even get a better deal on one with Prime Day coming up in a few days)
My RazoRock Beginners kits just arrived today. Man the brush makes lathering so easy. My first time using a safety razor - no complaints! I picked the “Blue Label” soap man it smells fantastic! Didn’t cut myself so I didn’t get to try the alum block. I’ve been subbed to the channel for about a month now and I’m already converted. Thanks Ken! 💈
Evening Ken. Nice shave today. The Leaf, Twig, and Thorn seemed to have taken over wet shaving market. All are good razors it’s my recommendation to those wanting something to start wet shaving. Hope your back gets better quickly. I know how bad it can feel.
Another great video! I got some new gear in today, myself. I got a new synthetic brush, pre-shave oil, and "Pear-Brrr" shave soap from WestCoastShaving, and my new Henson razor should arrive from Canada tomorrow. I'm going to wait until tomorrow night or Saturday and break in all of the new stuff at the same time.
I agree with you.. whatever someone else wants to do.. That's on them.. I'm sorry you went through this. I wear a mask but it was rude of them to hold you back from ordering food. Here in Florida it's optional.. And the restaurants are all understaffed so much that people just know to not give them grief.. This looks good for a split de safety razor set razor. I'm looking into getting one ..

Hi Ken, Several months ago I wrote a review of the twig. Saying how much i liked it, but wished it was a bit more aggressive. They offered to exchange mine for a more aggressive model. I agreed and yes its mildly more aggressive but didnt know it had a different name, now i do.. Glad your feeling better..

I thought that this soap sounded like it would smell good so I wanted to buy it, another one on your channel I looked for and couldn’t find was the pink boi soap I couldn’t find that for sale either. But I really enjoy watching your videos I’ve learned a lot from your videos. I’m using leaf twig and thorn now but I’m really thinking about buying a Henson to try out. I’ve only been wet shaving for about 3 weeks now and I’m 27 years old I’ve been using cartridge razors since I was in high school.

Great shave Ken💈💈 The Leaf razor is "gimmicky" to me, but the Twig is a more approachable, less complicated razor. Too bad about the Victory soap company, not what we needed to hear. Captain's Choice North is a great scent that used to come in a cream and hard soap. It's one of my favorites and hoping the soap/cream returns. The "Thorn" version did the trick and you gotta love the burn. Enjoy!
I use to use a straight razor until I got an operation and they messed up the nerves in my hands and wrist (Head and Face) I used a bulldog Electric razor tell it conked out been using Harrys "great for the head" clogging was a bitch and the creams and gels sucks. I ran across one of your videos and thought "Why not?" I ordered some goodies, brush soap samples and a bowel. Also ordered a Thorn kit can't wait to try it face only, I will still use the Harrys on my head until they run out then Ill order a Leif.(saw some head shaves on YT with the Leif)

IMO, the Leaf looks hideous and super gimmick-y but I must admit I like the look of the Twig and Thorn.

I think I would probably favor the original Twig. I will finally be in a position in about a month to switch from my Sensor 3 Cartridge to Twig. I have to admit to some hesitation though. I have 2 small slightly raised moles on my face. The Sensor just pivots over them. I am concerned the twig might nick me there.
You are a trooper, going ahead with this video in spite of your back problems. The Twig Thorn edition looks like an improvement over the standard Twig. I am curious how it works for you with your favored blade, such as the Wilkinson Sword. I am ambivalent about people who choose to make this kind of trouble at retail establishments. I appreciate their willingness to press the envelope; as I believe that a restauranteur has no right to require a patron to wear a medical device (a mask is a medical device) if that is not required by the City, County, or State; and it is inappropriate for a manager to expect their line workers to act as enforcers of such a dubious and arbitrary "rule". A business engaged in commerce with the general public, is not entirely at liberty to make up any rules they see fit. They are subject to specific regulations and rules. Making up arbitrary rules opens them up to litigation. The logistics do not work if the rules are different from franchise to franchise. You park you car, go to the door, and only then do you discover that this particular franchise has a mask rule; so do you go back to your car for masks (if you have them), or to you make trouble? The whole scenario is logistically problematic. This kind of trouble making is deep in the warp and weave of the American idea. We are pretty good at it. Almost as good as the French. You might as well enjoy the show, because it is going to happen. I doubt that business owners and managers will give up on this weird fixation until it becomes painful and costly for them to try to enforce it. In that sense, these trouble makers are performing a public service; even if it is a giant pain in the butt for anyone stuck in line behind them. I fully appreciate a theme park wanting to maintain a mask policy. It is nearly impossible for them to enforce social distancing throughout their entire facility. They do not want to do anything that might make them a lockdown target by the County or State. I firmly believe that there is a segment of our society that will never accept the "new normal". They will fight for a return to an open society and an open economy with every ounce of their strength. I admire that cowboy spirit. On the other hand, I haven't eaten at McDonald's in at least 20 years. The last time I did, it didn't stay down. I took that as a sign.

California's opened again! Yay! (I'm in New York!) No more 😷! However, I got an issue with these cheap restaurants (McDs, White C) not wanting to do full "indoor dining" (and zero outdoor dining!). NY is open and 100% capacity and these nimrods are trying to save a dollar ( by not bussing tables) by keeping them up!😤 As for back issues, the Teeter Table is supposed to be the best!
I was actually on victorys website couple days ago and actually seen that soap. Sucks they’re going out of business. I have their Limited addition “WITCHCRAFT” it’s one of those like it’s upside down and still to this day!! 🇺🇸 🗽

And if it goes for the McDonalds argument, we call them „a fight over golden shorts”. And even if you win, you just pissed every one and they are mad at you. And I saw one shop that did a smart thing. They posted a message next to the „wear a mask” sign, that goes, yes your freadom is important, but it ends there, where You sare a danger for someone else. I had accident the other day with my Twig. Loaded the blade but did not notice it not being aligned on both of the little hooks, so one end stuck out and I ended up with huge deep cut/rift (Feather blade indeed) in my one temple. Note to self: always wear glasses when loading the Twig. 🥸

IMO, the Leaf looks hideous and super gimmick-y but I must admit I like the look of the Twig and Thorn.

Thanks for the video. For you back maybe some stretching or yoga or specific muscle building exercises might be able to help. Maybe something you could look into on your own or your chiropractor might have some recommendations as well

I think I would probably favor the original Twig. I will finally be in a position in about a month to switch from my Sensor 3 Cartridge to Twig. I have to admit to some hesitation though. I have 2 small slightly raised moles on my face. The Sensor just pivots over them. I am concerned the twig might nick me there.
You are a trooper, going ahead with this video in spite of your back problems. The Twig Thorn edition looks like an improvement over the standard Twig. I am curious how it works for you with your favored blade, such as the Wilkinson Sword.
I am ambivalent about people who choose to make this kind of trouble at retail establishments. I appreciate their willingness to press the envelope; as I believe that a restauranteur has no right to require a patron to wear a medical device (a mask is a medical device) if that is not required by the City, County, or State; and it is inappropriate for a manager to expect their line workers to act as enforcers of such a dubious and arbitrary "rule". A business engaged in commerce with the general public, is not entirely at liberty to make up any rules they see fit. They are subject to specific regulations and rules. Making up arbitrary rules opens them up to litigation.
The logistics do not work if the rules are different from franchise to franchise. You park you car, go to the door, and only then do you discover that this particular franchise has a mask rule; so do you go back to your car for masks (if you have them), or to you make trouble? The whole scenario is logistically problematic. This kind of trouble making is deep in the warp and weave of the American idea. We are pretty good at it. Almost as good as the French. You might as well enjoy the show, because it is going to happen.
I doubt that business owners and managers will give up on this weird fixation until it becomes painful and costly for them to try to enforce it. In that sense, these trouble makers are performing a public service; even if it is a giant pain in the butt for anyone stuck in line behind them.
I fully appreciate a theme park wanting to maintain a mask policy. It is nearly impossible for them to enforce social distancing throughout their entire facility. They do not want to do anything that might make them a lockdown target by the County or State.
I firmly believe that there is a segment of our society that will never accept the "new normal". They will fight for a return to an open society and an open economy with every ounce of their strength. I admire that cowboy spirit.
On the other hand, I haven't eaten at McDonald's in at least 20 years. The last time I did, it didn't stay down. I took that as a sign.

California's opened again! Yay! (I'm in New York!) No more 😷! However, I got an issue with these cheap restaurants (McDs, White C) not wanting to do full "indoor dining" (and zero outdoor dining!). NY is open and 100% capacity and these nimrods are trying to save a dollar ( by not bussing tables) by keeping them up!😤
As for back issues, the Teeter Table is supposed to be the best!

To bad the Victory soaps are shutting down, was hopeing to buy some in the future :( unfortunetly the shipping to EU is a lil costly. And if it goes for the McDonalds argument, we call them „a fight over golden shorts”. And even if you win, you just pissed every one and they are mad at you. And I saw one shop that did a smart thing. They posted a message next to the „wear a mask” sign, that goes, yes your freadom is important, but it ends there, where You sare a danger for someone else. But still…there sre still people that walk in, just to have that fude or argument :/ well, any way get better soon. Till the next shave.

So do you remember the shave from the Twig to tell if that one is different? Maybe should have shaved half your face with the original Twig and half with that one. I like my Twig. Didn't care for their blades.

Did you notice the Thorn has a little magnet on the base plate to help hold the blade when you put it on? Pretty neat!

Like not too long ago I was walking my dog and I had my slides on and I was jogging a little bit just messing with my dog playing with him and off the bat it’s pretty awkward running in them and out of nowhere my back got all tight and it was stiff as hell for about two days I couldn’t even sleep right I was so uncomfortable 😣 😅 🤷🏼♂️ 🐕 🏃🏻♂️ 💥

I had accident the other day with my Twig. Loaded the blade but did not notice it not being aligned on both of the little hooks, so one end stuck out and I ended up with huge deep cut/rift (Feather blade indeed) in my one temple. Note to self: always wear glasses when loading the Twig. 🥸
