This song isn't about breaking up, it's about him leaving to go on tour. Plant and the band always said it was hard being away from their familiies. Plant was barely married a year and had a newborn as well when he covered this song.
I'm loving these Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd reactions, you make listening to 50 year old songs feel like it's my first time, too. When you come up for air, Led Zeppelin's lead singer Robert Plant had a hell of a solo career after the band broke up. You would enjoy that, too!

This song sounds just as good 50 years later. I know every minute note that is played from start to finish. And watching your reaction to this (and all your other newly-discovered songs) brings a huge smile to my face. I was 11 when my older brother played this record and I was mesmerized. Each time you react to an old classic, it’s like me watching my 11-year-old self when I heard it for the first time. I’ve found my happy place.

I was in high school when this come out (led Zep I). We would gather at a friend's house and tear the plastic off the album, slip it out of the sleeve, gently lay it on the turntable; the needle would drop with a slight hiss, and then we heard for the first time the guitar/bass drop, the drums and then the VOICE. We would alternately jump up and down on the bed, head bang and look at each other in silent disbelief at what we were hearing. Keep up the energy, Hector.

Dude "When the Levee Breaks" is a Led Zeppelin cover of a song 99 years old! The drums were recorded in the lobby of an English Country House with just a couple of microphones... Possibly one of the best drum sounds ever captured 😉
I'm loving your Zeppelin reactions man. It's quite unbelievable that they were this good straight off the bat, as "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is song number 2 on their 1969 debut album. Spine tingling stuff.
This is from the original Led Zeppelin album. After he'd first seen him singing at a teacher's training college near Birmingham, & invited him to join his new band, Jimmy Page invited Robert Plant down to his mansion beside the Thames, to compare their blues influences [ Page had been a successful stage & session musician for several years ]. They were a blues inspired band for sure, but this was a surprise, off the wall plan from Jimmy Page. 'Babe I'm gonna leave you' is a traditional folk song, that had previously been released by famous folk singer Joan Baez; but Page had his own take, & arrangement on it. The raw power of 'Bonzo' Bonham's drumming just heightens those sonic explosions. LZ covered every base from traditional folk, through riffing heavy metal, to far eastern inspired. Man, Floyd, zep, sabbath, purple and even Santana is what I pelt out on high volume every day on my commute home from the office every friggin day, get some weird looks but mainly a smile and a nod, fuck the haters, love your energy dude
I love this song! Page (guitarist/producer) said he wanted this song to contain a lot of "light and shade" to get the emotion across and, man, did they ever hit that just right. Not 20-30 years ago, about 54. This song is track 2 of their first album, recorded in 1968 and dropped in 1969. I've been listening to Led Zeppelin since this album first dropped and it changed my world. You're starting to get a real sense of their genius, what sets them apart from all the other bands, and I suspect that you'll still be listening to them 50 years from now. ☺ As always, very much enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to the next. Edit: As for recommendations, since you've reacted to several songs from their first album, including this song, I'd say just keep going with album 1. Other great songs on it include "Communication Breakdown" (example of proto-punk rock), and the last two songs (both blues rock) "I Can't Quit You Baby" and "How Many More Times".
And please Play Moby Dick. You love the drummer, Bono, and to this day it still is the best drum solo. 🥁 It will blow your mind! I have to say you are my favorite reactor in all genres. I wish I could find a man exactly like you! You make me happy with every reaction! The world needs more ppl like you. I truly appreciate you more than you know! Please don't change!
@@suzannemurnane2714 Did you mean to direct your comment to BrainSqueeze because I'm not sure he sees replies to other people. Anyway, he's not reacting to Led Zeppelin anymore (see his comment under the "community" tab). PS: Bonham's nickname was Bonzo. Bono is lead vocalist for the band U2. ;)
Fantastic Reaction!! Thank you so much. Yes, you are reacting to it just the way my friends and I did in around 1969. It was the first Led Z. lp white background with black zeppelin. The vocals are incredible (Robert Plant) mixed with psychedelic overtones and acoustic guitar. This is absolute genius, and my favorite rock tune of the era. So they sole it from a folk singer--they ended up paying her and she deserved to get the dough.

@@lindadollar5321 indeed. Been doing this for about three years. Rekindled my love of Zeppelin and other classic bands. And then opened the door for me to explore whole genres I had ignored in my 50’s and 60’s. It’s been quite a journey.
I'm 20 and I love these old rock bands, especially Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and I've loved these reactions since you did Shine on You Crazy Diamond, my favorite song from Zeppelin is from there 2nd album, What is and What should Never Be, and I really think you would enjoy it and When The Leevee Breaks. Both songs are BANGERS... Keep up the great work
You know, every generation seems to think they had the best music growing up, but I really believe, at least up to now, that the 60s and 70s really DID give us the greatest music ever.
zeppelin and floyd .🙌.. keep em coming.. im 50 (not that i ever grew up) but yeah, you definitely take me back to being 16 and being lost in their music and all that potential stretching out before me. its magic.. "when the levee breaks" is gonna twitch that head of yours in such a good way .. and if you ever want a zeppelin live experience "since ive been loving you" at maddison square gardens is insane .. big love man..
Greatest rock band ever, EVER! Plants voice, pages guitar, bonzo's drumming and Jones on base and more are the top four musicians in Rock History. So creative and innovative. Listen to the transitions in this song from hard rock to soft. All so smooth.
Love you are building up Led Zeppelins catalog. Enjoy every moment. The singer, Robert Plant, Guitarist Jimmy Paige, Drummer John Bonham and omg I forgot the genius bass player lol all fit perfectly together like a puzzle piece. They all must be together to be Led Zeppelin. Yet I do love Robert Plant. He was so sexy in the 70s. Loved your reaction!
LOVING these Mark!! I'm BEGGING you to listen to HOW MANY MORE TIMES......It's got everything you love about Zep. Thunderous bass lines, Hypnotic Plant vocals, Mesmerizing Page riffs and all powered by Bonhams legendary fills!
Another great reaction, Mark! Yeah, this one really smacks you upside the head and never let's up. In high school in the 70s Led Zeppelin ruled everyone's car stereo.
What a fascinating channel this is. For classical music, check out Vladimir Horowitz or Arthur Rubinstein playing Chopin's iconic Military Polonaise. This is from the so-called Romantic Era of classical music that came after straight classical like Beethoven and Mozart, and that came after Baroque, like Vivaldi going into Mozart, as the more dynamic and more complicated piano began to replace the more simple harpsichord. And for something orchestral, I bet you would really dig Saint-Saens organ Concerto #2, the finale. The whole thing is good and there is so much buildup and world-building really, but much too long to react to and the final movement is the one that packs the mind-boggling organ display with the bass pedals. For some absolutely towering Led Zeppelin classics, check out Ramble On, and, Over the Hills and far Away, which also include hints of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. For some fascinating and fun grooves and song ideas which also truly showcase their incredible musicianship, check out South Bound Suarez and Fool in the Rain from their final album before drummer John Bonham died, In Through the Out Door. These two are back-to-back on the album. And actually, a great way to end that little 3 song run is the next one on the album, which is their take on a humorous whimsical country song that still get tears it up, Hot Dog. And if you really want to give your ADHD a run for its money, check out their odd time signature fan-favorite The Crunge, which totally evokes James Brown, but it is also an incredible display of musicianship, and it's humorous all at the same time. It is so fun and interesting. And there is a classic quotable line at the end.
Heck yeah we rocked out just like you and still do!!!! How can you not with music like this?!?!?!?! This song my friend is 53 years old....53 years!! I just love this...every reaction I watch, I love it!!! OMG Pantera ...gosh that just took me back to a teenager 😳

I grew up on this, got sooooooo much ass listening to this. Robert voice would just set the perfect mood. Best wing man ever. Love that you are loving this music as much as I did. Your doing it right too by listing to studio version. However you have to watch some live concert vids as well. I recommend do studio then live. It will blow your mind how the song you just heard that blew your mind was really just a suggestion of a song. The live versions are so different and full of improvised magic. They just go on stage and play what they feel the song should sound like tonight. Its pure GENIUS.
Congrats on reaching 25K+. I'm one of the OGs (original grand). Not that it matters but I'm an older blackman and can name Zeppelin's catalog by ear. This is a top 5 of mine. 2pac is my 1 and Zeppelin is 1A. I'm ashamed to say I just assumed someone of your musical background and geography would've heard Led Zeppelin. You make me feel old but I love to see you experience this for the first time. Crazy you mentioned Pantera, I met them through a good friend that was close to Dime and Vinny. Cemetery Gates, Walk, Cowboys from Hell and Caravan (Sabbath remake) are a good starting point. RIP Dime & Vinny P.
It takes me aback when young Brits don’t know the huge legacy of music they brought to the world decades ago. It also makes me sad when I see so many young black reactors who know nothing of the Blues, and how much it impacted rock and those great British bands.
The Blues were a catalyst for most of Rock n Roll in 50s, 60s & 70s. Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Floyd, Rush and the rest. They've said it themselves. The musical connection between genres was beautiful and not seen as much today. That's why all they will be timeless.
Love your reactions! I was lucky to be introduced to Zeppelin when I was 12. I heard "Black Dog" and his voice and the guitar blew me away. So much so, I have now been playing guitar for over 30 years. It all started there.
Hi ! Great reaction! Has anybody told you yet that Led Zeppelin did three songs that are intentionally Lord of The Rings? “Misty Mountain Hop” “Battle of Evermore” “Ramble On” Also have I suggested “No Quarter” yet? If not then I am. If I have then I am again. 😊 I’d recommend the live version from the concert film, “The Song Remains The Same” As always, you do you!
The beauty of Led Zeppy is that all their songs can be listened to multiple times and they never get old. If you haven't done "Tangerine", then its time. In this song, he's saying "ramble" which essentially means "to wander".
While there is certainly a place in the reaction community for people who analyze and dissect a song while listening, what I appreciate about your videos is you go off of pure raw emotion. Of someone wants to analyze the lyrics or meaning of the song afterwards, or break down melodies and chord progressions, great. But that FIRST listen should be this, what you do, just letting the music wash over you, do what it wants to do to you, and allowing yourself to simply enjoy the moment. And yes, you're experiencing this music they way so many of us did when we discovered it decades ago. That's what makes you so fun to watch. Keep being YOU, Hector. Put When The Levee Breaks on your list. You won't regret it.
Best reaction I have ever seen don't worry about what you are doing it's perfect love your beginning to a long and wonderful world of listening to my own favorite band for so long . Chris .
All these other bands you've mentioned have made brilliant music BUT Led Zeppelin have knocked the others out of the park because of the sheer volume of material of the highest excellence. Even one of these songs if made by another band would ensure their fame but Led Zeppelin produced iconic songs time after time after time. Their body of music will forever live on and they'll never be forgotten.
The word is "Ramble". It means to walk without direction or purpose. Just to "go away from this place." I think the idea of the song is that he doesn't want to leave her but he's got to leave the place where "they" are. So by default...it's time to go. Think: young kid going on a big tour across the ocean for the first time. Yeah. 1969 Zeppelin.
You've got to, got to, got to...do "Ramble On". Also "Kashmir" from the same album this one is from... (idk what this one is called, & tbh idk what ANY of their albums are called except _Physical Graffiti_ ? which, I think has one of my favorite LZ songs, "In The Evening" echoes of which I believe I hear on Greta Van Fleet's "When The Curtain Falls" ...which brings me back to my last LZ request for today, "When The Levee Breaks" from the same album that idk the name of) ...the red & white?... Greatest Hits?...remastered?
Not only is like are 1st time hearing hearing through you but the excitement like watching your kids opening presents just the feeling of there going love this. ✌🏻❤️
Kudos Mark. You are making us all enjoy our favorite music that much more. They used to play Zeppelin to death on FM radio in the 70s, so much so that I didn’t buy too many of their albums initially. But now that I’m in my mid sixties, I’m getting back into this music in a major way. When you get back to Bad Company, their first album is solid all the way through. Also check out PF’s Meddle album tracks Fearless and San Tropez when you want to chill a bit.
I've missed you, but understand that you need to rest. Much success to you and your channel. It's a breath of fresh air. I grew up on this music and took it for granted, but it's timeless.
Telling you, Led Zep are like the best bar in the world every bottle every beer pump every cocktail is just gonna sneak up and blow your mind. Wait till you get into live at Madison Square Gardens 1973 or (my fav coz I was there) Knebworth 1979 or the much later Celebration Day 😉
I'm loving your reactions, I wish I was hearing these songs for the first time, the seventies was a great time to be alive musically, by the way it's ramble.
True story; my Dad loved led Zeppelin and months before he actually left my Mon he played his song and Ramble On so many times over and over and I now realize he didn’t know how to communicate how he felt so this song was speaking about his feelings. He was having an affair and struggling with whether to leave or go. My Dad introduced me to Led Zeppelin, my fav all time band. Every song is a journey and experience from their first to the last album. You can see the whole progression of the times and music style as each album is released. Amazing reaction ❤ so glad it speaks to your soul and that you get it.
You have to do When The Levee Breaks - their very best. The drum beat has been co-opted by hip hop artists numerous times. But NEVER had the impact that Zeppelin did. This one is the definition of EPIC. Welcome to the world of Rock. You should have come of age in 60’s or at least the 70’s. You (we) would have had a blast together!!!
Led Zeppelin was so unique. A lot of people criticize them for stealing from the blues but IMO a lot of these blues tunes live on because of them. And the ones that are covers were done as an homage, I mean why do they not get the benefit of the doubt? LoL never understood that criticism. the blues were big in England in the 60s, they had a lot of reverence for the black American blues players of the early 1900s on forward. Anyways each player brought the absolute best to the band and they all melded together perfectly. John Bonham. Maybe the most legendary drummer of all time and for sure the greatest rock drummer ever. John Paul Jones. Master musician adding bass and keyboards to zep. The man is a musical genius in his own right. Of course Robert plant one of the greatest voices in music history, and Jimmy Paige, in everybody's top 3 guitarist list. As a whole band, together they were the greatest. The studio recordings are all so magnificent. And many of them were done by the same guy that engineered Hendrix, Eddie Kramer. Every album is a no skip.
Genenis , Styx. Grand funk railroad , cream , traffic, Kansas, ELP, yes, moody blues , Blue oyster cult , CSN, Hendrix , Neil young . So many bands so many timeless songs .tip of the iceberg brother
Are you trying to kill him? I know what you mean though I've been listening to everything listed for years, I now try and get a music fix of 2hours or more every day, I'm 82 years young and still rocking mainly in my rocking chair. Love and peace from Perth Australia 😎🎶🎵🎶💕🦘
I'm really loving and appreciating your reactions. I was born in 70 and heard my dad playing Zeppelin, but once I got in the high school it's all I listened to practically. It's hard to pick a favorite album and I always go back to their first album which you've done a lot of songs off of. Dude you've still only scratched the surface! So many suggestions I could tell you but you've got to listen to Ramble On. Then there are quite a few on the physical graffiti album that you must listen to. Keep it up!
Believe it or not, this song was originally a folk song by American singer/songwriter Anne Bredon and recorded in the late 50s. Another American folk singer named Joan Baez did a version in the early 60s and that's the version Zeppelin guitarist, Jimmy Page heard and decided to turn the folk song into a harder, rock song.
Haaa Im enjoying your Led Zeppelin journey -- So much more to discover -- Kashmir -- When the Levy breaks -- Oh my you havent done In My Time of Dying yet -- or No Quarter -- In The Light -- I could go on and on but you will get there im sure of it

U2’s Running to Stand Still or Red Hill Mining Town… I could go on… but this is enough for now. I’ll keep coming back buddy… your reactions have me smiling for days.
Another great reaction! This song came out in 1969 when I was 18 and there was no one like LZ then or since and we'd listen to this in the college dorm room and they still sound unbelievable. As you’ve discovered great music is timeless. You have so many more groups to react to on your rock journey. Groups or artists with deep catalogs and fantastic and varied music that you’ll want to explore are Steely Dan, The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Eagles, Cream, The Byrds, Traffic, Yes, Supertramp, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Billy Joel, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, and Linda Ronstadt to name a few.
These are all great suggestions - I'm trying to imagine the reactions to Hurricane and Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young.. or Glad by Traffic, or anything by the Who... such a fun ride we're all on!
@@jdsell Thanks, great suggestions and two more Traffic suggestions are "Glad" and "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys". However as we know the list is vast with so much incredible music and styles to react to. I'm sure his responses will be more than entertaining! 🙂
If you ever listen to classical……..one that should definitely give you goosebumps…..try out Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. It’s a choral piece and it is magnificent.
I'll leave that comment. This was brand new when I was a teen. My brother would get the new Led Zeppelin album and we'd pop it on the turn table and turn it up really loud. It helped that we had an awesome stereo system that my Dad built. Turn table, Receiver with vacuum tubes in it and two fabulous speakers. Each piece encased in solid wood. @@AndyViant yes they did, top studio musicians by their early 20s
As always, very much enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to the next.
Bono is lead vocalist for the band U2. ;)
LOL!!! 6:08 “that’s a hobbit on a fuck-you guitar”
Powerful stuff! Led Zeppelin the absolute GOATS.
This is my favourite Led Zeppelin song and I'm so glad you've reacted to this :)
Thank You For This Wonderful Re-Experience Of A Truely Great Era..I Am 75 yrs Old and This Is As Awesome As The First Time Hearing LZ..Thanks For The Memories...Happy For You That You Found This Musical Wonder..These Were The Good Old Days.
I’m 75 as well. I’ve been loving these reactions to my favorite bands from my young adult days.
@@helenespaulding7562 Isnt This So Awesome..Re-Making Old Memories New Again..
Another banger by Zep! I love your reactions, they bring me pure joy!! Looking forward to many more. Thanks, your friends from northeast Florida
The best rock band EVER, this was my teens, we were truly blessed❤️💕🎸🙏
Love your reactions 👍😂
You got to watch this live at Danemarks radio concert 1969 so amazing. Plant was only 20yrs old belting this out. Great track
So glad you are getting into the music we grew up with. Keep up the great reactions.
This - about going on tour and "leaving her "- and Ten Years Gone are my favorite Zep songs .
Heck yeah we rocked out just like you and still do!!!! How can you not with music like this?!?!?!?! This song my friend is 53 years old....53 years!! I just love this...every reaction I watch, I love it!!! OMG Pantera ...gosh that just took me back to a teenager 😳
Watching you I now know what I looked like when I first heard this.
20-30 years ago? Try over 50. This was released in January 1969. The singer, Robert Plant, was 20.
Mark....The Doors and ZZ Top will absolutely blow you away and they have so many great tunes the both of them. Love that "Yooooour loving it !!! and it shows . I absolutey love your reactions and the energy you have for each new song....your a legend my friend...all the best from Canada !!!!
'Ramble'
Great Reaction!!
I know you love the drums. Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand" will knock your socks off!!!!
This album was released before the moon landings!! Recored in late 68 released in early 69
Hi ! Great reaction!
Has anybody told you yet that Led Zeppelin did three songs that are intentionally Lord of The Rings?
“Misty Mountain Hop”
“Battle of Evermore”
“Ramble On”
Also have I suggested “No Quarter” yet? If not then I am. If I have then I am again. 😊
I’d recommend the live version from the concert film, “The Song Remains The Same”
As always, you do you!
Keep goin in order mate. It's AMAZING watching somebody discover them from new, that you you take the same journey as the rest of us
The beauty of Led Zeppy is that all their songs can be listened to multiple times and they never get old.
I love the tension they build in their music and then change. EPIC.
LOL, you are a born ROCKER.............nice to see you have found your 'real' groove.
(idk what this one is called, & tbh idk what ANY of their albums are called except _Physical Graffiti_ ? which, I think has one of my favorite LZ songs, "In The Evening" echoes of which I believe I hear on Greta Van Fleet's "When The Curtain Falls" ...which brings me back to my last LZ request for today, "When The Levee Breaks" from the same album that idk the name of)
...the red & white?...
I bought this when it was released. For some reason, this song resonated the most. Such a brilliant group of musicians.
I've missed you, but understand that you need to rest.
Much success to you and your channel. It's a breath of fresh air. I grew up on this music and took it for granted, but it's timeless.
There really are an endless supply of genius out there.
Please do HEY YOU pink floyd after this 🙏🙏😎
True story; my Dad loved led Zeppelin and months before he actually left my Mon he played his song and Ramble On so many times over and over and I now realize he didn’t know how to communicate how he felt so this song was speaking about his feelings.
Led Zeppelin are by far the best band from top to bottom...in every way!
Chicago on first two or three albums.
Keep it up!
how can a20 year old kid have so much soul!!!!!!!!! song 2 album 1
Just again for those at the back, Robert Plant was TWENTY YEARS OLD when he recorded this. Un-bloody-believable.
@@jswimeaden2365 he'd only just turned 20 aswell!! Bonzo was 20 aswell
@@Scoobydcs just.... wow.
Haaa Im enjoying your Led Zeppelin journey -- So much more to discover -- Kashmir -- When the Levy breaks -- Oh my you havent done In My Time of Dying yet -- or No Quarter -- In The Light -- I could go on and on but you will get there im sure of it
I remember the first time i heard Zepplin, it was from before I was born, but when I first heard them I was like WOOOWWW! I love watching you hear it for the first time, it's amazing !!
I was at a restaurant today, heard a song and had to Shazam it, because I wasn’t sure the title.
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog.
I thought “Hector will love this!” 🤘🏼🎸 KILLER!!!!!! Hopefully it’s on your to do list! (I’ll go double check your playlist, but I don’t think you’ve done it already!) Plus, I just wanted to thank you, you’ve got me excited about music again!! ❤

Alex Lifeson, guitarist, does stuff that’s unbelievable! Drummer Neil Pert was one of the best rock drummers ever and then he said, I could be better, and took lessons! He was one of the most successful drummers in the world and he took fucking lessons!
Unlike some of my other favorite Led Zeppelin tracks that I listened to countless times in my youth, I had stop listening to this one. I just couldn't handle the highly emotional roller-coaster ride of this song.
I have currently 120+ subscriptions, most of them to various reactors' channels. By far - Brain Squeeze/Hector's channel is my #1 FAVORITE!!!!
Love your reactions. I remember buying these albums in high school. 70s man
😂😂😂😂😂 Baby baby baby I’ve got to RAMBO!!! 😂😂😂😅😅 that was CLASSIC!! I Can’t listen to this channel too late because your ENERGY sends me through the roof. Hector your AMAZING!! Keep it up!!
Thank you Paul!!!!! 🤣⏪️🧠
I’m sure your list is growing every day…. So here are a few more to give a try when you have time. Peter Gabriel… anything from the Secret World Live tour… but In Your Eyes is fantastic. Also..
All good suggestions, man……and so many more as well! Dire Straits…Doobie Brothers….Queen…AIC….Pearl Jam…Tool….
If you ever listen to classical……..one that should definitely give you goosebumps…..try out Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. It’s a choral piece and it is magnificent.
Mark there's too much hate in the world, and you spread love, loving your honest heartfelt reactions
Yeah, the world had a totally different feeling back then than it does now
Nice one mate, never stop reacting the way you are, it's the best.
Lol!! Led Zeppy has so many great tunes. Try Achilles Last Stand. 😀
Here's a great head banger for you love how you described Roberts voice, that was perfect
Love everything about you Brain Squeeze!! This trip down memory lane is fire! 🔥🔥🔥
I was banging my head to this in 1969, and banged my head along with you in 2023. I can assure you 1000's of others were as well.

Nobody better than Zeppelin!! I'm 63...and I have loved them since I heard their first album since I heard it when I was 10!
I seem to remember hearing the live version of this, great band, takes me back every time. Great reaction, I’m glad you’re enjoying my rock and roll, just as I learned to love rap, thanks to you
