    Well dissected análisis ,I live in the New England area , I looked through thousands of quarters w no luck , I decided to buy it on EBay for around $57 including shipping .

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great buy @ $57. There Is a smaller variety found in the Alabama area selling in that range. Those hit the market around December. It’s a different die but is almost as big as the one featured in my video out of Michigan.
      There are some of the Large Crowns showing up in your area. I’ve seen several sell on eBay out of Mane and New Hampshire since I put this video out.

      Congratulations on your find. I’m glad my video was helpful to you. I didn’t think any of the Full crown errors were being found in TN. I know the large half crowns have based on eBay sales. Again congratulations and thanks for tuning in to my channel.

    Very well done. The only anomaly you didn't cover is the die crack between the curl of the R and the bottom of the E at the end of Delaware. And I hadn't seen the Bird Nest one yet, interesting!! Well planned video!

    Awesome video I found one in my change yesterday 2021P full crown. I live in muscle shoals, Alabama. I like looking for errors. On Feb 14th at 0330 I was walking in the Mapco down the road from my house. I picked up a penny off the floor, it is a 1988 flip over, double struck Lincoln cent. On the obverse I see D STA
    ERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM And 30% of the memorial visible starting at the top of his head and running down his neck and shoulder. The coin looks like new

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very cool Find. There is a similar crown looking error coming out of Alabama. It looks similar but clearly a different variety. I will be doing a followup to this video and talking about variety’s.
      Thanks for checking out my video and

    The sales that doesn't show any bids "timed out* and didn't sell. The ones with only 1 bid I dont trust. There has to be at least 2 or more bids for me to believe that is the price someone actually paid.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The no bids are buy it now purchases. And if it’s got a line through it it means the seller accepted a lower offer and did not disclose the price.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The comps I show are of sold prices only. I filtered out auctions that ended without a sale. I’m only representing sold auctions.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I am a seller and a lot of people wait until the last minute so that it doesn’t get bid up, so after the initial onslaught of new to the market auctions and bidding wars, it seems like it’s calmed down or the demand is dropping lately, most of these are selling with one bid only, and at the opening bid price. I haven’t sold any in the last three weeks because nobody’s willing to pay $100 for them.
      I actually hold the record for this crown error sale at $256. And was getting 300 views and 20 watchers on a 7 day auction last fall. I currently have 3 listed and each has less than 50 views and 7 watchers which I believe are other sellers.

    I have a small crown on the top back of the hat. Some are calling it the "bird nest." Also a very large deep scarface obverse one.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir the Birdsnest is in the crux of the tri-con hat and can be at the front or the back I personally believe the one that started at the front of the hat developed into the large crown after further cracking of the die. It’s my understanding that collectors of die cracks will want to try and fill out the progression so it starts with a small chip and develops into a large crown the smaller the chip the smaller the value and the larger The chip the larger the value.

      Unfortunately there are a few newbies to eBay practically giving these away. All are mostly from MI. But these coins should be selling for closer to or above $100 still. They are quite rare outside of the Detroit service area.
      As of January 2023 less than 200 have been sold on eBay. that qualifies as very very rare.

      Yes I see it too. Bonus!

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe you can use that die chip as a marker to tell whether or not you have a progression of the crown die chip error so if you have that die chip in the gap, it could be a marker that says this is the run of quarters off the machine that produced the large crown and the large crown came after. if the crown or parts of the crown are absent on a quarter with just the die chip in that gap on the shoreline, you could assume it’s from the same set of dies before the chunk of metal broke up and away from the die.

      How did you find them? Are you searching $500 boxes from the bank. I’m only seeing these pop up in Michigan for the most part and Massachusetts seems to have received some of them
      I am personally tracking sales on eBay and to date I believe there is just around 100 so far cry from 1 million and I know not everyone is selling them when they find them but would you pass up $100-$200 if you could sell them for that.
      If I had to guess based on my knowledge of the mint and how they’re produced there may be only 1000 to as many as 20,000 before the era was discovered and they stopped the presses.

      I haven’t seen any extreme examples personally or sales online but most of the 2021 WCTD’s I see have a appearance of a minor broad strike just slight but not to the point where one edge is totally washed out. Just thick and thin on opposite sides of the reverse design.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me first start by saying I am not an expert but I’ve learned a lot from another guy on TH-cam called Blue Ridge Silver Hound. he does a eBay market report on unslabbed coins that are sold on eBay each Wednesday and in that you’ll find examples of just what you’re talking about cuds, die break, cracks or chips.
      Concerning double dies They have varying degrees of collector interest you might see a cud sell anywhere from five dollars to $100 depending on the size of the cud. a double die can be considered somewhat common but there are other years that are more rare like the 72D a die chip again, since no one tracks the population, would be very difficult to determine its value other than what they’re being sold for on eBay so it really comes down to market demand cuds and die brakes seem to be in demand right now.
      Again when it comes to Cudd and die breaks size matters the bigger the break the bigger the cud the bigger the price.

And since u say only a few have sold should I not sell it and wait if the prices go up or go ahead and get anything over $20 ???? Plz maybe just giv me ur opinion and btw I’m from Asheville NC so they r on the east coast and I think it’s an awesome video

      Price has come down on the full crown but could go either way. There are new sellers entering the market and somewhat flooding the market which drives the price down giving buyers more options.
      Also there are multiple errors on this coin that I’m seeing on eBay and everyone is calling them the “crown” error wether it be large or small. So also affecting the price point.
      Sell them while they are hot! Or sell one and save one. I feel they could or should be higher than $100 if it turns out they are rare. But we will never know how many escaped the mint.
      Good luck! 👍

    Hello, I have a1980 and 1982 proof sets that look good to the naked eye, however when I saw them with the microscope, they look dull, coin face and all around like they where made out of fine sand. is that normal? Even regular coins look shiny, even mirror finish arounf faces. Are those proof sets normal?

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I’m reading on the Internet it says that all coins were minted at San Francisco mint with the S mint mark the proof coins are commonly found with attractive black and white deep cameo finishes however some sets not stored carefully may exhibit hazy Tones over the surfaces of the coins.
      So it seems to me there are no special surface set ups like today they have two types of finishes like a matted finish. Anything other than frosted features on a mirrored background would not be normal for 1980 and 82..
      Without seeing exactly what you are talking about I can only speculate that it’s either environmental damage or the sets that you have are of poor quality coming out of the mint.
      It’s also been said that even PCGS only use like a 6 to 7 times magnification for looking at coins if you use anything stronger than that you’re going to pick out the most minor of imperfections.
      I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in and asking questions there’s so much to learn about this hobby.

      Yes the dies were breakin and cracking around George’s Tricon (hat) so the different sizes can be early to late stages of the progression of the die chipping up and crumbling.

      @@calebhanson3612 I currently have one listed on eBay for $32 but have seen the Half crowns, meaning at least half the size of the full crown sell for more than $50 and smaller transitions sell for less than $20 and as low as $5 for the smaller minor light looking chip.
      I believe there are progression die chips that demonstrate or match up with the full crowns progression. And should demand a premium due to the connection to the “full crown” until the mint actually caught it and replaced the Reverse die.
      It is also my understanding that there are seven machines pumping out quarters in Philadelphia. So, some of the other “birds nest” chips or smaller chips all around Georges hat (Tricon) are plentiful. But the bigger the chip the more valuable to collectors the fully developed die chip are. 4mm in size or more. In addition to obscuring letters in E PLURIBUS UNUM which I Believe. There are many varieties of diie chips on the Washington, crossing the Delaware. I personally believe that it’s the depth of the design that causes the die to crack around the hat so you’ve got what you have in the back of the hat, (Tricon) and then on top of the Tricon, like towards the rear of his hat, or towards the front, or completely covering the top of his head, which is what I’m discussing here.
      It’s a pretty large die chip and very unusual. For being so large and looking like a royal crown.

      It sounds like you have a version of the smaller die chip on the top of George Washington’s hat. Known as a tricon. There are many small die chips around the tricon but the largest chip measuring over 4 x 2 mm is the holy grail. The ones I have found here in Michigan also have a smaller die chip in the gap between cracks and the ice flow of the design just above the letter T in the word quarter.

      I think they will make so many of these quarters that they will be like the bicentennial quarter. Lots of collectors will still want it though so it should always demand a little more of a premium. And this particular die chip error could stand the test of time and be a high demand type of coin on par with other mint errors like the 1955 double die Penny. In regard to value. Keeping my fingers crossed

    As fast as the coins are struck there would be thousands of those coins out there. E-bay is good if you are looking to buy counterfeit coins. I would sell these so called error coins but never buy one. There is another TH-camr making BS videos about error coins claiming almost every quarter has an error. If his claims were true there is more errors in the last 20 years than in the previous 200 years of coin production. There is more counterfeits out there than actual error coins. So be careful if you are buying.

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Philadelphia mint has several machines pumping out quarters at a clip of about 40,000 hour each so when the die breaks they may not catch it right away it could take an hour or two before they find the error. it’s the only reason why these get out. Philadelphia’s mint has notoriously been sloppy the last two years due to the pandemic and lack of employees I wouldn’t say that minor die chips in errors are counterfeit because most of them only sell for a couple bucks but this is a rather large one and it’s not counterfeit. the ones that I show in the video and the ones that I’ve seen on eBay match mine I found around 50 of these in a box of 500 brand new from Brinks but that represents 5% the entire box that was new 2021P quarters. The ones I’m selling on eBay are definitely legitimate. There is another error that made its way to Alabama probably off of a different press the people on eBay are calling them large crown die chip error which is a fallacy. That one is large but it’s not as big as this one. And should still command a higher price because it still is a rather large die chip. It simple a different variety.
      I’ve been tracking all the sales on eBay there’s been over 150 of these and it appears 90% of them came to Michigan.there are some making its way to Maine and people are finding them in other parts of the country since my original discovery almost a year ago. I have found a couple in circulation around here and I’ve sold those at a discount on eBay because they are slightly circulated. in my estimate the population of this particular mint error could be a couple thousand to as much as 80,000 which is a very small number. The mint doesn’t track errors. They can tell you how many coins they mint, but they would never be ever too tell you how many errors are out there because They just don’t know.
      The fact that these actually escaped the mint tells you that their quality control has slipped because normally there’s a guy standing at the press spot checking coins coming off the machine. I believe that due to the lack of employees they may have only had one or two Quality Control people monitoring seven machines.
      As I said I’ve been monitoring and putting together a spreadsheet with all the sales on eBay. I’m planning on releasing a video soon to follow up this one and I will be talking about the other errors including the one out of Alabama which again I believe comes from a different press altogether. in each case the moment an error is discovered, or a die chip or cracked die is discovered, they replace it. So there’s no knowing how many actually escaped the mint, because they get fed into a large ballistic bags and shipped out so if they missed this error and allowed the machines to run unchecked for an hour or two as I see it. Again the machine can produce 40,000 an hour. But they are supposed to remove not only the broken die but also the coins that were produced in error. A monumental task.

      The translation to English says you have one with a piece of metal in the hat.
      There are lots of smaller die chips around the hat. Depending on the size of the chip, you can put a value on it. Small chip small price. Big chip big price. Small chip $1-$5 Big chip $90- $125

      @coinmojo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markwojo727 if you don’t mind my asking, how much do you search a box a week a couple rolls a week or like me thousands of dollars every week? The reason I ask is that I am planning a formal follow up since producing that video I have discovered that New Hampshire/Maine is also a location where some of these have landed there has only been a handful that I’ve been found outside of Michigan and New Hampshire today over 209 of these have been sold on eBay that’s over the course of two years I have been compiling this information and plan to produce another video so I just want to get my facts straight fact is 90% of these crowns have been found in Michigan or at least are being sold by eBay sellers who live in Michigan and primarily southeastern Michigan out of the Detroit Federal Reserve bank

    • @coinmojo
      @coinmojo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without referring to my project notes I do not believe I have seen a listing or a sale of the large crown out of Min.
      And I of course understand that everyone who has found them, runs off and sells them on eBay. When they first hit the streets they were selling for over $200, so it’s a lucrative find. They have since come down to earth as more and more have been listed and sold. My best guess as to the population is upwards of 10k copies before the error was discovered at the mint. But still a very low population.
      Thanks for your participation in advance if you decide to provide more details of your discovery.

      Can you clarify your question. This video was produced 2 years ago and the Large Crown Die Chips were selling for $200. I have sold these coins on eBay to the highest bidder.
      Still selling for $35-$75 today. I now believe this Error will stand the test of time and only rise in value as collectors learn about it.
