I had a choice to buy one of these types of computers and instead decided to study for 2 months and build my first gaming PC. I almost bought an HP workstation i7 third gen, 16gb DDR3, 1TB HDD, and gtx 1070. Instead I ended up with a ryzen 5 3600, 16gb DDR4 w/RGB @3200mhz, gtx 1070, b450 steel legend RGB MB, 500gb M.2, in the most badass Rosewill RGB case for about $175 more then the HP. Everything is brand new with a warranty except for the GPU which I paid too much for on eBay because I went with a reputable seller and buy it now. My setup with a 32in curve 144 Hertz 2K g-sync monitor (also new) all cost right at $1,200. If I was willing to hunt for a better price I could have saved another hundred or so dollars on the GPU. I'm so happy I did what I did and very pleased everything worked the first time I turned it on. If you're thinking about building your first PC my biggest pointer is one word "compatibility". Now that I've built the best looking PC of all time😉 I want to build more. Good luck to the PC greenhorns out there.
As someone who has had to deal with an older pc and make it usable for today´s standards i would like to see how much performance you could get out of that build. Maybe try a few configurations, see how it runs with a cable management, maybe better cooling, overclocking the processor if possible... Just throwing out some ideas here. There are people with older pc´s that can learn a lot from that kind of video.
I modded my dell precision to acquire 32gb of ram, an i7 4770, a simi modular 550 watt psu, a gtx 1060, a 1tb hdd, 1tb ssd, a a 500gb ssd, and a sound blaster card. Other things i did to it aswell is cut a hole in the front and mounted a 120mm water cooler for the cpu, and its also got a blue ray burner that i never use. But i love the sleeper look, its the best part of my system by far. Most games get 60+ frames, but newer games are starting to show the age of the 4770. I plan on getting a gaming laptop with a 3070, but i wanna keep this system for the awesome factor.
1:25 - On the other side of Niagara Falls, we used to use a lot biodegradable packing peanuts made from vegetable starch. Better for the environment (and safer for children in the "put-everything-in-my-mouth" phase), in my opinion, than those plastic pillow packs that have been increasingly used to replace the veggie starch peanuts. I bought a refurbished Dell Precision T1650 from an Amazon seller, I really gotta hand it to the refurb tech because my machine was almost SPOTLESS inside. Two tiny little dust balls, one between the front panel and internal cage, and one stuck in the CPU heatsink (which took half a second to clean out with a zip tie, commonly known to The Verge as "tweezers"). Mine was in FAR better condition, too, a few minor scuffs here and there, but it's clearly had a good life in a corporate environment somewhere. Cable management was probably the best you can get in the stock case, certainly better than factory, so I assume the tech that was inside it last actually cared about his/her job. It's running an i7-3770, cost a third of the ABOMINATION'S price, and runs pretty well on its integrated graphics. I was ready to upgrade graphics right around the time that BitTwits were buying every graphics card available, driving the cost of cards up 200-500% percent, and decided I wasn't paying several thousand dollars for an older card. Never got around to upgrading it once the prices returned to Earth from their brief orbit around Jupiter.
Yeah, he's done that a bunch on this channel, surprised he ragged so hard on the Optiplex itself and the part combo. The price is the problem and the i5.
@@ChrisD__ no the problem is throwing a 2060 in that rig.... That is not how you do it.... You buy a cheap optiplex to toss a 1060 in for example and an ssd.... I think I'm so used to crappy PCS that when you shows frames-per-second I'm like oh that's not bad
seconds per frame*
5:49 "the only bloatware in this pc is windows itself" love that, i bet this guy uses linux on his non gaming rig
I use linux (arch linux) on my main pc (for gaming+work) thanks to wine and steam proton you can play most of windows games on above 60fps. and I just feel like its better for coding.
@@Martin-bz6ol i know, i do too, but until the devs allow, you cant play rust or VR games with oculus rift CV1 in linux
As a ryzen 5 user, can confirm. Ryzen is fine as heck.
Ryzen 7 user, can also confirm that Ryzen is great. I also have a Ryzen 7 in my Thinkpad P14s and it outperforms most laptops processor-wise.
i'm the old i5 user here 😭 i'm going with something my optiplex can handle.
My cable management is abysmal, but this is next level.
Damn look at that bottleneck
i had a heck of a shock when you unpacked the computer and it looked exactly like the one i'm using
Dell, dell never changes. But seriously my 10 year family’s old dell pc looks exactly the same on the inside
There were so many one-line roasts towards this system it’s incredible
Peeling off the plastic film still on that graphics card could've been the most satisfying thing to do with that system.
I sold this PC with an i7 and 1070 for just $450 lol less than half the cost and better FPS
Also no you don't screw down the case with these dells and HPs
"Surplus ISIS dell optiplex" lmao
The gash in the side of the box is most likely from the clerks in your local post office needing to cut open a giant cardboard box with a razor knife to get to the packages inside. The gash looks to be too clean of a cut to have been from another package on it. That's why proper packaging is a must when shipping. But if you do it properly, the outer box can look like hell and whatever's inside comes out without any issues
Its funny that this pc performs better than my macbook pro 2020
The GPU yeah everything else no.
Eww MacBook

I literally built that pc for my nephew 2 years ago cost me $180 including the upgraded power supply. Pair it with an rx570 or 1050ti and its a decent casual gaming box.
I agree putting an rtx anything in there and charging 1000 is disgusting
Is a rx570 one of the pcie powered cards
@@mikeysgametime8914 no, that is why you need the upgraded power supply. An rx570 draws 130w over an 8-pin power connection.
The only useful pcie slot powered gpus right now are the 1650, 1050ti, anf rx6400. The nvidia stuff can be really hard to find at a good price
@@evers6214 there are a lot more pcie powered cards then what u named there's, a rx 560 that's 4 gb and it's pcie powered, u just have to look
@@mikeysgametime8914. True but id suggest not buying a weaker gpu than the models I mentioned.
Other than the packaging and condition of this pc i feel like its a crime to say my pc is worse than this
You got a thumbs up because of the cat. Also thanks for the info and I'll be putting in the component prices of my pre-built PCs on my listings so people know why its that price and not just selling word soup.
Those Dell are built to last, we had them in the office kicked it like a 100 times (on accident they were put in a terrible place), not a scratch. Not sure what happened with this one. Thanks for testing it, I still know a lot of people that are sure 3rd/4th gen Intel CPUs are good for gaming even with modern cards like the 2060, now I can show them here.
This is a true sleeper case! Scratches, dents and other cool stuff increases its character by +415
As others have posted, he/she is charging extra for the card and tossing in the $100 PC just to obfuscate.
I've had amazing time building 3 PC's through newegg but this was amazon levels bad.
I recently built a very similar system for my roommate. Same model optiplex, same wattage psu, same exact SSD, but no RTX 2060. Just a humble GTX 650.
Fast forward 9 months, a minimum monthly wage in my country is 200 usd and every 2060 costs $1000 on "sale" here

Xeon e3-1240 v3 might be a cheaper alternative to i7 or complete upgrade.
@@thepezfeo I’m looking at getting an i7 5775c, or possibly a cheap e5 1650v2 and x79 mobo so that I can hold off on a really big upgrade until the next Gen Ryzen and Intel platforms switch to DDR5
@@zuckdaddy1596 x79 lacks AVX2 instructions... I recall getting some conflicting posts/ info about whether broadwell CPUs required "refreshed" Z97 mobo or if they work on Z87 with bios update.
@@thepezfeo My z97 was built specifically to support broadwell out of the box (its an MSI PC mate z97), so I’ll be fine with the 5th Gen part. As for the Xeon, how important is avx2? I was watching some videos on the 1650v2, and it seemed to perform well enough; I also read that most consumer applications don’t utilize it. I could definitely be wrong though
I have i5-3570k with gtx 1070, god dammit !!

Alright now I need to see someone turn a ww2 era ammo crate into a pc...
That would be hella cool!!
I'm gonna start pricing some itx boards!
This was a reasonably priced PC. Comapred to the RTX prices here. I mean.
If you want to get a used RTX 2060, it's gonna cost ya around 1500-2000 US dollars (converted from HUF).
It's a mess down here.
Dude I just started watching your videos, your hilarious. Best tech videos on TH-cam, keep it up.
Not gonna lie I almost bought that pc in Newegg last month
I am really glad you didn't end up getting it. :D
When I saw the pc opens in 5 seconds it really got me to buy an ssd
Non the less this cpu is really bad for an Rtx
Yeah, SSDs as boot drives are genuinely nice. Out one in my PC.... Genuinely mind-shattering to be in Windows, up, and playing Halo in less than the time it takes to boot up my laptop to the desktop.
I found a pc for £300 that had an i5 9400f and a gtx 1650 is this a good price all i want is to be able to play csgo at medium 60fps.
@@LulJim it's super good for the price and you could upgrade it in the future

On the plus side, at least it's not an RGB unicorn vomit abomination.
Yeah.. and I never really understood the desire for RGB lighting as in general to me it seems more like a ''rule of cool'' scenario as its a needless factor in most cases unless say one ties the lighting of the item to a system where say red means somethings wrong with the part or the light just stops working if something is wrong.

The cat is the true star of the show.
It is April 2021 and now the internet is envious of this PC.
It feels like a crime to not tell you the cpu of the system your selling
Its super common with people selling optiplexes because they just try to flip them for more money
I bought one of those prebuilts from a dentist for $80 a year ago. i5 4570 8 gb ram and no hdd put on a rx580 for $100 ,a evga bstock psu for $40 and a 500gb ssd with a 1tb hdd I bought used for $70. My little brother couldn’t be happier
They should ship packages with actual peanuts. I would pay extra for that.
I am not a cat person, but your cat looks so majestic and beautiful.
0:51 CAT! More cat, please :-)
If you replace the CPU with a third gen i7 or maybe a hyperthreaded Xeon, It'd likely be pretty good then.
There are to many limiting factors to try and make a 2060 work like it should in a rig like this. At that point you are best off buying a NEW PC or building a PC. These workstations are meant for budget gaming.
This guy just talking about pcs is funnier than most comedians. Would be a proper laugh to have afew pints with im sure!

There was an episode of Stargate SG1 where a con man convinced aliens that packing peanuts were virality enhancers.
