40k DND with Naomi. The squad of space marines walks into the dungeon. Accidentally steps into the glowing magic rune on the floor. Fails all their saving throws. Get turned into snakes and turtles and such. The lone Necron shows up expecting resistance. Sees nobody but notices the glowing green crystals. Goes over to look, fails his saving throw, gets hypnotized by the glowing crystals that match his eyes. Total Party Wipe. Everyone loses except the world that isn't destroyed by their war. The end.
I love those rock sets. They look great. Edit: So I went and bought a bunch of stuff from their site based on this video, but I couldn't find a quick way there to say so... so if anyone from Monster Fight Club watches/reads things, then you have Naomi to thank for that :)

I backed this Kickstarter, and you were spot on in your review. It doesn't take much more painting to really bring up the realism, especially on the trees. I use this terrain for Song of Ice and Fire, so of course I repainted one of the trees with white bark and red leaves for a Weirwood tree. Super easy, and looks great.
Most memorable moments for painting was definitely spending nights and week end with my best friend to paint our armies and speak about non sense while having a few little drinks XD so it's not really a particular moment but more a mash up of all our sleepless nights and long week end enjoying slow painting while teasing each other and actually learning from each other. I would recommend anyone that has the space to do so the painting experience becomes way faster somehow.

Those crystals look like Tiberium. And those rocks look goood. If the mousepad-scenery's edges were tapered off that would have been even better.

This stuff is really great, loved your unboxing video too. We've just received our stock of the Monster Scenery Wave 1 at our store in the UK direct from MFC, so it is available through stores who want to get it. However I don't think it's necessarily trickled through the distribution network yet. We'll definitely be directing people to your unboxing video so they can see how cool it is.
Makes for a nice setup alternative if you have need to setup a game really quick. I like the size of the mats they provide and not being restricted to a small playing field. Great video Naomi!

Hi there i did what was required :) thanks for your great videos.
My favourite painting memory is my first time with my wife trying to figure out how to do wet blending this ended up in a long day of laugh and horrible mistake before finally getting it :)
we keep the 2 figurines horibly painted to remind us our hard times to make us better painters

A most memorable time of painting would probably be a different kind of memory :D when i was still young for Christmas me and my family went to the mountain for skying, there we rented a wood house. Two days after Xmas it snowed so much overnight that we got stuck in the house. It was beautiful! but we couldn't go to the ski station without the car. Still I would say i got lucky coz Santa did bring me some nice new models and i had taken a few paints and brushes just in case not actually believing i would use them. So that day i painted with my brother in front of the window of the house seeing the beautiful snow in front but staying nice and warm inside. Perfect!
The next day the snow truck did free us but i remember that day still as a nice and cool time of brothers sharing our lives while painting and being astonished by how beautiful the snow is.
I know people from the north wont understand why i love snow because a lot tell me i must be insane but i guess its a bit like people that go to the beach in summer they love it but for me who lives near the beach it's just boring :D
So yes snow when you don't have to deal with it on a daily basis and just go there to enjoy is just beautiful and puffy and all :D And even though we got stuck due to it we don't mind!

ALl look good to me, what i've liked the more it's the terrain and the gems; the accesories, the trees and rocks look great to make a quick match and i think that it'll match perfectly both the 40K and the WH Fantasy styles, easy to deploy easy to pick up, perfect for beginners or complete other scenaries that you may have.
I like that the rocks are hollow, you can hide minis underneath!

After looking at their webstore, I really wish instead of having a mat with grass/desert on sides and both sides being grid/not-grid that you could get a mat that has JUST grass and one side is grid and the other is not. I feel that I would get way more use out of that than what they currently offer.
And one cityscape with/without grid side would also be nice
I think you'll find that most people would either want both sides to be grid or no-grid as they would probably be buying the map for a specific game whose rules generally support either one or the other. Plus, unless you are playing a game that doesn't allow pre-measuring you can you can just ignore the grid.

I'm not into this stuff but i find the packaging very pleasing. Sometimes when i buy a model kit i spend a ridiculous amount of time just admiring and fondling the box.

I am a Patreon, so participation in the draw is already sorted but unfortunately, I don't have many painting moments... just shelves on shelves of shame...
Most of my decades old host is base coated, some is detailed, a couple of dozen out of more than two hundred Word Bearers have had their final dip. The DG, EC, TS, NL and WE auxilia units and most of the vehicles are in desperate need of a paint strip and repainting, and so does all of the lesser daemons and a significant part of the renegade guard auxilia.
The Hell Talon bomber, several Contemptors, a couple of predators and a few Rhinos aren't even assembled, and the three old school OG Dreadclaw assault pods are so bad as models period that I want to replace them with the updated versions, but not at the prices GW/FW are charging.
I even have the chaos forces of the 8th edition starter set still sitting unassembled and basecoated in the wrong colour as it was so long since I last painted.
Not to mention the fact that I got shafted when the main paint of my Word Bearer host got removed completely without any feasible replacement (mechrite red).
I just won't buy and mix or layer two or three times the ammount of paint pots for the number of models I still need to paint.

The thing that you called a tortoise looks like it's an alligator snapping turtle...the turtles that can take fingers off, or perhaps more if they get big enough.
I have no idea why I am going to try the draw because I have no luck at all but I will do the tasks for it despite already knowing someone else out there who is more deserving will get INDOMITUS and I am happy for them. I will do the tasks because Sword 'n' Steele deserve the recognition, not that anyone follows me on social media anywhere but I will put it out there. I need to figure out what my favourite painting video is from Naomi... going to be hard.
Now on to watching the rest of this review, even though I craft most of my terrain from garbage.
Second Edit: Post video watching. I like the terrain rocks for the fact that they look fairly realistic yet have ample flat surfaces for placing miniatures atop without too much worry of getting "wobbly syndrome". I agree, Naomi, that the whole lot looks in need of a little sprucing up for a little more realism but I have seen far worse. There is nothing a few washes and dry brush runs with some sand and pebble flock or flocking over the leaf canopies that they supplied couldn't do to improve the look a bit more. I also thought that the bare tree branches looked a little too unidirectional as real trees have branches that grow in all directions. I think something else that would take away from that "Faerie Tale" appearance of the leaf canopy is if they had made the pieces open in areas but I do agree that the Faerie Tale appearance makes them uniquely usable for RPG settings in the lands of the Fey and Sylvan. I would have liked to have seen how the rock outcroppings appeared against the wasteland but you did not display them on that side of the battle mat. I think even in grey they would have fit the desolate look but a quick wash and dry brush with some slightly more brownish tones would make them match. Not surprised at the lack of things that fit with that side of the mat either since you would expect to find little on the expanses of some wasteland or badland area. I think with the stone outcrops, addition of some craters and maybe use of the crystals supplied that would also act as a perfect battlefield on some distant moon or the surface of a Necron Tomb World, not that anything recent would require a playing surface for Necrons :P
Great video and review. If you plan a short follow up with any of these items perhaps touched up paint wise or with the rocks on the barren side of the map I would love to see it.
You are super strong being able to lift an entire world like that. Not surprising from an East Coaster though. They are all tough and resilient.

Being so light I might glue some weights inside. Lightweight terrain gets knocked around too easily.

For now Ive shared this video to twitter, I’ve been subscribed for a little bit now and I’ll just say here that my most memorable painting experience was my first model after returning to the hobby, I took a picture of it and posted to reddit and was just overwhelmed by the positive response I got from it! Really helped my confidence and helped me feel better about pushing forward

Not a fan of the trees. I like them to look more realistic.
I liked the trunks, but not the foliage. I'd probably try some model train table/diorama foliage techniques unless I just wanted to get playing or had no good way of transporting the finished trees.

How is it Ive been gaming for over 25 years. During that time I had always hoped to meet a girl with the same passion as me. Unfortunately every woman I met in the gaming community was an angry awful person, who's physical unattractiveness was only eclipsed by their insufferable personalities.
