Luke, I recently purchased some of your base ready stuff and I wanted to share my experience: I ordered some of the City ruble and some snow flock for my bolt action/K47 soviets (as I was attending an event on the weekend), when the package arrived it came with a note to say that you were out of stock of the flock, which to be honest I was disappointed with, however after using the base ready stuff I was so impressed with the results I achieved that all was forgiven. And I know when the snow does arrive it will only enhance the look of my Russians. I didn't know where was the best place to leave a review so I left it here. To all the people watching in my experience these products are amazing! Seriously 10/10. I can't speak more highly of them and the service I received. Keep it up!
I'd love to see some builds that are more sci fi to see what you can do with your range that way. More moon type stuff, maybe mars? Something a bit mad like! I'd love to see what you'd come up with to break up the board when normal green vegetation isn't allowed!
It's not Luke's fault, he lives near beautiful green things as do many other YT terrain builders. However, I would also like to see boards that aren't green. There are many awesome biomes out there that aren't grassy hills: rainbow algae, volcanic sands, tundras, savanna, etc.
Luke, there's no need to apologise about anything to do with the quality of your videos, they're top notch, anyone who's got a problem with them they can jog on or film their own vids. Keep up the good work!
From 20 years as a professional creative I can assure you that the best concepts and ideas are always better when they're presented with full confidence and no apologies about their current state, you know there's always room for improvement, but we don't need to know - from our perspective it all looks great, same goes for playing in bands (as you know) the audience don't really notice the mistake as long as you just play through them!) You have enough variation in your content that it's fine to have the odd quickly cut video that gets the idea across.
About fifteen years ago I built an eight by four on four , four by two modular boards, I cut all four backs to the same profile and all eight ends were also identical to each other, with the four fronts being flat, it means the four boards are very interchangeable, I cut the shapes out of 3mm ply, should have used 6mm as more rigid and would have given better corners, we build and learn, the surface was just plaster over polystyrene and while very cheap has proved a bit soft, also I never used scatter, just paint, (the scatter boards just look so much better), I think new boards or dramatically revamped old ones may be required, the ply sides do make them quite resilient, and a 2" base would allow you to dig down in places, (I used one inch), love to try the burning techniques, that looks fun!!, don't worry if the build takes a bit longer, it just gets more awesomeness built in.☺.
Hi Luke. I am definitely into your “one day” builds. I am especially interested in modular tables. I really liked the fact that this modular table could be repositioned. I like that. More please.
Something that I really like about this video is that at any point you can change the project to suit your own mental picture of what you want. Want steeper cliffs? Okay, only burn the top edges and now they're not as gradual. Prefer different color rocks? Swap the yellow for a reddish hue. Want an alien landscape or other-worldly look? Add blue or red or purple to your flock for weird vegetation. Wonderful project and wonderful video.
My wife and I love watching your video, Luke! We mainly focus on D&D stuff but your techniques are so easy to follow and emulate! Thanks for the amazing videos and we just placed an order with your US affiliate.
Boards like these are just the absolute best part of the hobby. You can’t go wrong with an absolute gorgeous looking board, and you keep putting them out. Looks soooo nice, love me a good board. None of that Gamemat stuff :P
I'm enjoying seeing you and the Terrain Tutor Mel bringing in Railway modelling techniques into the mainstream. I've done boards that style and found the best thing is storage - they're a bit less robust but they're lighter and box framing means you can hang them on the wall.
Brode sode! … Wait, that's a different game. Looks good Luke! Stuff like this is great because it shows solving the problems building a basic board, and making the board modular means you're likely to be able to fit it somewhere you can't devote a dedicated gaming space, and it's easy enough for most people to transport it.
This is definitely my kind of video. We get to see an amazing board built from start to finish in one vid, how to use some of your products and you even threw in your dog. Great content, I would happily watch more like this 👍🏻
Impressive board! I was not convinced at first of the rock painting technique. To be honest, I thought it was a bit sloppy. But then the black wash was applied, and I was awed: these rocks are some of the best I've ever seen!!
Loving these board builds! This is the stuff I like because you're in such a hurry, you're using techniques and stuff I can actually try. Keep em coming!
Definitely find these quick, 15-minute, one-day builds useful. You've shown most of the techniques in longer, more detailed videos...this format shows how those techniques are applied in a variety of practical board styles, which is great both for inspiration and as "worked examples."
@@edwinward258 For sure, but I believe he has a company that he sells these new with, thats what I mean. Like he can sell new ones pretty easily probably, but used people would rather just have more control I think ya know?
Hey bro, fucking awesome. You are a Master board and diorama builder. Thanks for the inspiration. You made the right decision when you quit the band (back then I commented on how difficult it had to be because the band was so good). Keep banging these out! I’m in the USA and going to contact your US distributor for some materials you used here for my next project. I hope your business explodes (in a good way!), you definitely deserve it! Great textures and easy application are the key to these kind of products and you nailed it. Don’t ever stop!
Been catching up on some of your older stuff, and this is a great video. Considering making a generic gaming board for encounters and this was super helpful. Thanks!
I like the rough & ready "one day" board builds. It's almost getting back to the basics like early in your vlog career. Great video and keep up the good work.
I don't mind the "camera in the corner and sped up" style. Still really informative and easy to follow. It's nice to have a bit of variety to be fair. Awesome job on the board ;)
"Mars boards" as my ears immediately perk up. Would LOVE to see a Mars board build. I see a good number of Mars gaming mats(and I own one), but not a lot of Mars *tables*. So that would be fantastic.
Loving the one day builds! I think even if you went over the top this time, you are 100% capable of going even further over the top for one day builds! Banging effort mate!
Honestly I would love to see more of these kinds of builds especially on the different types like cities and "Mars" boards for inspiration and to see how the pro's tackle a project of that size.
Really enjoying the quick builds. I am learning so much as it will help me with my 1st time build. Definitely will check out the store when I am ready. I would like to see a modular medieval city build but that’s more than a quick build I realize. Thanks for sharing your talents!
Definitely want to see more of this kind of content, really enjoy your board builds, I find watching people creating great looking things really peaceful and zen and I could watch it all day, I'd love to see some sci-fi scenery and possibly some smaller scale stuff for things like Epic40k, Warmaster and dropzone commander :)
I think these types of videos are great. Good to see what's achievable. Be nice to see the boards get made from the different genres that you mentioned.
I love the board and that you went a little over the top with the height of the hills because it really shows off how a project like this goes and how to do it. The slightly rough editing and footage is perfectly fine, I'm not here for the cinematography, I'm here for the great builds and hobby techniques. Anyways the videos have been good quality and I love the speed up footage. Keep up the good work, and careful with those fumes! 😆
Absolutely wicked bro thats a board that can be used for so many different types of gaming...hopefully I will find the time to make a demonworld board for sigmar in the future
I love to see these big builds, in fact I would love to have a go at one of these to really test my skills and imagination. But unfortunately I live in a small flat. I have however done lots of smaller builds including small valleys a watchtower ruin , small temple ruin ( I nicked a few of your ideas from you ruined temple build, except instead of scattering the sand/grout I used sand textured gel from and art shop, and I got those cake decorations and cut em and stuffed DAS in the end and just covered those in a bit of your fine desert sand they look great) scatters pieces that sort of thing which have been a big success with my little un and his mates. but yes I like to see these big builds
Love it. Im looking to do a 6x4 bit in 1ftx1ft squares so i can make a 4x4 or bigger. This gave me more confidence to start the project! 1x1 will also be easier to store with a uniform footprint.
How did you do with your 12/12 boards?, I think I would have gone 12/24 just to cut down on joins, about fifteen years ago I did an eight by four on four boards, its a bit batted now but still epic to play on!☺.
Amazing. Fast and good looking. Better than many terrains done in dobule the time. And the editing was well done. Sometimes shorter videos are better than long ones.
I really like these one day builds. Also if you make them for Broadsword anyways...dual purpose! Win win! It’s really hard to resist not to start building a board myself right now.... Would you consider building a board that’s appropriate for more historical games? Dark age, medieval or Napoleonics? A board with Cobble stone roads or farmers paths would be sweet. Fields, hedges, stone walls, fences, ruins, a small creek...
Liking this series so far, keep up the awesome work! One thing that would be cool is if you did a video on how you plan out the boards - I've been wanting to build one of my own for a while now but can't seem to settle on what layout/features to do :/

So this is showing how an average guy and his mate can put together a table that has multi-purposes to it and if some advanced planning had been thought out you could have made it faster but presume off camera a few Beers were necked and a carry-out consumed - so any plans for a similar board but with Chaos in mind, as I have the 6 x 3 table but as yet, bare MDF boards awaiting an idea plus some better warmer weather.
