every time I see John Oliver, I remember the time he delivered the most blisteringly accurate self-own: “I look like a nearsighted parrot who works at a bank.” still not over it. love this splendiferous human.
@@EricaShady10171972 as far as I know that's the only major one, he hasn't mentioned others except for saying he legally couldn't question something a foreign official said, but he said it off handedly
I saw him riff for five minutes on stage at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center about the Big Chicken in Atlanta, completely off the cuff, and it was the funniest thing I've ever experienced in person. He was asking people in the audience about what is Atlanta's 'weird kitschy landmark' and he heard "Big Chicken" from the crowd, pulled out his phone, did a quick google and said, "Oh, holy fuck, Atlanta." Hilarity ensued.
He’s on one of few TV shows that doesn’t have outside sponsors so he hasn’t had to train himself in censorship the same way hosts like jimmy Fallon has
Dawn, that's because he out shined her in one episode in 'Giving Away' the money that was twice($15M) what Oprah spent maximum($8M) in one of her shows with gift giving.
"I've gone limp, and she's just holding me, and she's just successfully obtained the power position." Imagine if someone changed channels just at the beginning of this sentence.
Don't know why John said it makes no sense. It makes perfect sense in an absolutely literal and simple way. Last week's events being covered tonight. Last week - tonight. Simple and literal.
Kelsey Parente at least it’s the tucked-in type, not the roll-up and hit him in the face type. Only seen one of those once in my life, worn by the Magistrate in a small town at 2 am.
This was one of the best moments I've seen with Jimmy. He was funny, he kept the interview going, he kept wanting to know about John Oliver, he was laughing hard and he ended it with a really funny bit!
poor Jimmy has no clue how to get around John's banters. Couldn't come up with a single witty remark....John was on another level. *the ending was great though, kudos to Jimmy on that part 👏
This is a perfect example of just how much smarter, funnier & quick quitted John Oliver is than poor Jimmy Fallon, it also shows Fallon’s complete lack of interview skills. I mean just go back & listen to Fallon’s actual words, his ‘gosh, gee, wow’ is the extent of it, lucky for Fallon that Oliver took over the interview! If it wasn’t for the fact Fallon plays games with his guests he wouldn’t be worth watching at all!
I agree. I cringe when I see Jimmy Fallon's interview. He is horrible. He's dry, boring, he stumbles a lot, and he can't seem to think quick enough about what to say. But he interviews people I like. That's the damning thing about it. Plus, his sketches are pretty funny. But seeing him talk 1 on 1 with someone makes me cringe.
UMM it kinda does matter when we're talking about TV hosts. You're agreeing that Jimmy Fallon lacks interview skills and that's a big part of his job. Sorry to expect quality from big TV networks.
Honestly, I always knew he reminded me of someone, but it only hit me know, that he had been cast as Zazu in the Lion King. He is like how Zazu would be as a human. Wow. :D
This was a really nice interview where Jimmy could be natural and, well, just hang out with his mate, John who I shall not praise less I never stop flooding him with platitudes of how great he is.
New Message, for some reason every time I see yet another upvoted comment by you under yet another video, I start shouting and cursing profusely like John Oliver sometimes does. Can't you take a break for a couple of months?
Sofia Venegas, I guess a combination of nothing better to do, being hooked on upvotes and very bland generic and safe sense of humor can convert a person into essentially a non paid TH-cam employee.

still not over it. love this splendiferous human.
Hannah Freeman And those jokes make him seem attractive 😊
this made me laugh for ten mins
My stomach hurts. Oh my god!!! That's gold!!!!
My personal fauvorite: "I look like the reflection of Harry Potter in a doorknob." That was a good one from british Milhouse.
Don't care what he looks like; I'm too busy admiring his brain. Rawr!
Seriously, he's perfectly fine looking, just like 99% of the human race.
John never fails to hit the mark in these types of interviews. His frankness is refreshing.
Tash Sun I feel he is one of the few who does great both behind a desk (rehearsed & recorded) & doing stand up (live)
frank indeed, even tho it causes a bit of conflict and discomfort but its spilling the truth
You can tell how badly he wants to talk about the Coal CEO trying to sue him
I thought that one was already thrown out by the judge
EShy it was but until it's 100% out (cause I think Bob is still trying to fight it) he still can't talk about it
That’s exactly what I was thinking 🤣
@@adventzx999 he said a couple...which one is the other one?
@@EricaShady10171972 as far as I know that's the only major one, he hasn't mentioned others except for saying he legally couldn't question something a foreign official said, but he said it off handedly
John Oliver is such a witty/brilliant/quick thinking guy. Seems like a coolguy in general.
I saw him riff for five minutes on stage at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center about the Big Chicken in Atlanta, completely off the cuff, and it was the funniest thing I've ever experienced in person. PopularNobody always love him!
He should get a show
PopularNobody havent seen that phrase used in some years....i like that. i like you
LAlifestyle1 I like this. I like us.
There he is, CEO and Mega Reverend of Our lady of perpetual exemption, Pastor John Oliver.
Praise be, brother
Amen 😂
Praise be. Let's all send him our seed
Praise be my brother!
Praise be!
The coolest thing about John Olly is that he elevates everyone else around him in the bit. Jimmy Fally actually gets funnier in proximity to him.
Jeremy I agree. And that's quite a trick given how unfunny Jimmy otherwise is in interview segments.
He’s on one of few TV shows that doesn’t have outside sponsors so he hasn’t had to train himself in censorship the same way hosts like jimmy Fallon has
not rlly a high bar to get Jimmy more funny
olly...? fally...?
Why do you do that to people’s last names? Lol
Anyone else really want john oliver to do a podcast. I could listen to him talk about the most mundane stuff and i would still be entertained.
abby doesart
He did for a while thebuglepodcast.com/
He did an interview on NPR's "Fresh Air" yesterday, if you're interested.
I listened to it twice, just so I could hear his voice again 😍
Omg thanks guys :)
He actually got his start on a podcast called The Bugle. He's on all the older ones before he got really famous.
aw, Oprah just wanted to keep him and take him home.
Dawn, that's because he out shined her in one episode in 'Giving Away' the money that was twice($15M) what Oprah spent maximum($8M) in one of her shows with gift giving.

Oooh the conatations...😈
Be free John Oliver, be free. Amazing interview!
Who else also thinks that "Last Week Tonight" is the best name on late night?
by a mile
Hammad Ali the best? You watch you mouth. It's the only. The others are lies. Fillers. Appetizers for the main course which is Oliver.
Love that show!
Hammad Ali ...best show ever, Hammad!!!
Don't know why John said it makes no sense. It makes perfect sense in an absolutely literal and simple way. Last week's events being covered tonight. Last week - tonight. Simple and literal.
"1st 2nd and 35th glance? " lol
That’s a Fry and Laurie joke lol
I know it’s somewhat easy to be outshined by your guest but this is like...insane how much more likable John Oliver is.
It's hilarious to see Jimmy being pressured to tell the truth when he always plays it safe 😂🤣
John Oliver - my opinion - has the best show on television.
Peter Kier True that!!!
It’s because it’s not bought out it’s so refreshing
I’m from the future. It’s still the best!
@@Tonyhouse1168 Absolutely! Looking forward to your report four years from now! 😁
I love John Oliver, he's great
Jimmy Fallon was not ready for Oliver.
Around halfway into this clip it's clear John has taken control of the interview and is riding off with it into the sunset. :D
John Oliver is the only late night host who is impartial and honest about any story he covers rest are too afraid to talk about it or are hypocrites.
Vaibhav Biradar bill isnt too bad
I wouldn’t call him impartial, but he is hilarious for sure
Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj is great too! It also has such a beautifully modernized visuals, set and segments.
Boy it's really interesting watching two guys, who do the same job, and who do it so blatantly differently.
Max Horowitz they have to, jimmy Fallon’s network has outside sponsors
John Oliver with a white shirt under his suit jacket is actually rare
Kelsey Parente i feel uncomfortable with him not in a Checkered Shirt™
Kelsey Parente at least it’s the tucked-in type, not the roll-up and hit him in the face type. Only seen one of those once in my life, worn by the Magistrate in a small town at 2 am.
Meh he is looking like Mr Bean here to be pretty honest.
Aniket Modi well he is replacing Mr. Bean in the lion King ;-)
checkered is for the show
love the ending 😂
I thought the video is already over, scrolled down, read your comment, scrolled up quickly back to the video. In time.
Yep, I love it, too. :D
First Russell, now Jimmy... talk show hosts be really thirsty!
You should Watch his interview with Russel Howard, the end is even better
futureZbright I know what is it with him and getting people to hug him without prompting lol

ought to be a "Spot the real laughter" on each of his clips
I would say 4:51
Y'all never seen the Bradley Cooper clusterfuck
One of the best episode!
Everybody loves John... He's greatest
I love John Oliver so, so much!
John Oliver is a gift/compensation from Britain for Pierce Morgan.
tomuscranius Is he? Damn i mistaked him for a Brit.. No wonder Jeremy Clasrkson punched him.
Piers*
Ireland is part of Britain you american doughnut. As is England , Scotland and Wales.
i also seriously doubt that Ireland would want to claim Morgan (a Scottish name) as their own son.
tom , born in England , with an ascent like that . so at best a plastic paddy.
"she has successfully obtained the power position" ....bruh 😂😂😂😂oprah
John Oliver is so quick witted and such a great guy
His sarcasm has so much class, it takes Jimmy some time to get it
John is basically carrying this interview.
For one's Fallon's excessive laughing is appropriate, John Oliver is hilarious. That Streisand thing had me in tears
I love how Jimmy has such a natural laugh and he is so natural with the guests in how he reacts to what they say
John, you are a jewel. Never ever change.
poor Jimmy has no clue how to get around John's banters. Couldn't come up with a single witty remark....John was on another level.
*the ending was great though, kudos to Jimmy on that part 👏
Very interesting body language technique for quickly acquiring the power position in a relationship lol
lol
He is awesome and right about everything
John almost broke Jimmy, i love it when comedians break a fellow Comedians Composure especially in there own house.
both look great together😊😃😃
R u crazy
Mariah Carey - human nightmare. OMGOSH OLIVER, YOU GET IT BOY!
HAHAHAHAHA ♥♥♥
in real life, she's actually the opposite lol
Gio Garcia She can be pretty awful sometimes, but we all can I guess.
Mariah is a doll. She isn’t a bad person. And if ppl pay attention he is talking good about Mariah’s personality
Most people who have met Mariah personally say she’s very sweet.
Oh no, stop hating on Mariah, she's a sweet lady. This guy John is just being ridiculously hilarious, but she's actually praising her.
Jimmy your ending was hysterical!!! Lol.
GOD I love John, especially in the banter phase. He is unbeatably hilarious beyond comprehension, I swear.
It's crazy how good John is. Funny , witty, smart in each and every show he's on
I love John Oliver
I could listen to John Oliver tell stories for days. Dude is hilarious.
I can't stop laughing! That Oprah story tho!
Jimmy Fallon should take notes from John Oliver. He is really great with his words.
Thank you to all the people who have liked my comment.
I am a very intelligent girl!!! I see John Oliver I click!!! #zaddyjohn
Love LWT and love John Oliver and his amazing research and work. He and his show are incredible
Am I weird if I'm in love with John Oliver?? LoL
Liz Aragón not at all
he's cute
I think you'd be more weird if you weren't. ;)
Liz Aragón No. I am head over heels in love with him myself.
Ah, seeing these two together makes my day and fills my heart with pure joy. They're my faves
John Oliver: authentic AF
Jimmy Fallon: cringy overreations
Not being able to confront the person holding your hand because you're too socially awkward is all of us
John Oliver is SO clever.... enjoyed this clip!
This guy is like Mr. Bean’s satirical, younger brother. I love it.
British Milhouse
his mom thinks he's cool
Oh my god that's who he reminds me of THANK YOU
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stephenie Mievre You know it was John Oliver who came up with that right? The Primaries and Caucuses episode.
Who is his bart?
John oliver is Simply amazing.
Ain't no interview like a John Oliver interview XD
That Oprah strory was amazing *rofl*
Jimmy must bow to his superior.
Okay , how many knew that he was gonna play Zazoo ?! He's perfect for it !
I love sarcasm. It's like punching people in the face, but with words.
I am so glad I watched this tonight. I needed a reason to smile. Thank you, John Oliver. You are a gift I didn’t know I needed.
John you are the best!
Would've been so amazing to have John interviewed by Craig Ferguson! The wit and banter would've been incredible.
John: “nothing happens without Zazu”
Jimmy: “that’s not true at all”
THATS THE JOKE
Funny, Smart and Humble People. Thats my soft spot. Brilliant !!!
Only John Oliver can cut through Jimmy’s Nicey-Nice bullshit
ForeverFeel1ng john's pretty nice himself, jist with a few burns thrown around
I love John Oliver! He's so smart, so funny, he's the best!
What we have here is a great late night host. And Jimmy Fallon.
I love you two together, this was a good segment
Be free!

For some reason, I love the fact that he's so effusive about Oprah. Little things bring me joy.
Basically Jimmy can go home as his presence there is pointless really. That's how you entertain, well done John Oliver!!
Oprah & Oliver need to do a spin off show together :p
Honestly, I always knew he reminded me of someone, but it only hit me know, that he had been cast as Zazu in the Lion King. He is like how Zazu would be as a human. Wow. :D

This man is a treasure
you know what... this could be the best interview that jimmy had. genuine and funny. aside from nicole kidman of course
"So at this point, I've gone limp, and she's just holding me."
Making audience laugh is a talent but making a comedian laugh is something much more impressive.. both John Oliver and Jimmy Fallon are brilliant! :D
When the guest is more funnier than the host !! Love John.
He's the best, I can watch him forever.
Adore John Oliver!
I love John Oliver. SUPER FUNNY!
OLE BIRD FACE is a movie star! :D Nice, man! ♥
O wow. That I call perfect cast for Zazu. I was really sceptical about this Lion King remake, but now I'm quite excited!
Listening to John Oliver talk is audibly pleasing
I freaking LOVE John Oliver. I love you John
Zazu really is the perfect role for John Oliver. They look so much alike! :)
I have yet to see a interview with John where the interviewer doesn’t laugh harder and more genuinely than I’ve ever seen them laugh
John Oliver is a fucking treasure, and should be consider unesco world heritage.
4:43 Oliver’s joke hurt Jimmy’s elbow
you can tell jimmy was having a blast, first time i heard his real laugh!!!
I just want to hear Barb sing 'Send in the clones'.

Love Oliver.....he EVEN made it less painful that Jimmy Laughing boy was involved
