I swear the cutscenes on this game are god-tier, the way the music kicks in is phenomenal. I remember playing this back on 2008 without any walkthough and later on Roy's death bridge scene made me emotional and teary at the same time. Imagine my surprise when I found out that you can alter it and prevent Roy's death. I immediately made a second run on the game and followed a walkthrough, those were fun times.
Roy's Special is so mundane. I mean the Prince's special is a brutal combo, while Roy's special is a punch to the face... with the same amount of damage.
I personally think this game english voice acting is pretty good. Compared to the other english translated game. I've been playing both the japanese version and english version and I don't think the english voice acting is worse than the japanese one.. both are good :)

I just noticed (because apparently I like paying a lot of attention to this sort of thing). 90% of Roy's attacks, if not all of them, attack the head and nothing else. I'm not an expert on this, but when someone hits you 20-something times or more on the head, you're not exactly going to recover easily.
Never said uhh i dont think so.. im suprised to see that when prince says no, lyon doesnt step in.. i mean she is his bodyguard afterall.. what gives lol...
wow I never knew there was an ending like this, altho it's not the first time in the suikoden series they do this, I loved the fact that you could run away with nanami in suikoden 2 during the neclord stuff
Hmm... I've never lost the duel to Roy so I've never seen this ending... but this actually might have made a good alternate path in the story. We might have gotten more Roy character development (especially if he was forced or made the decision to lead the army), maybe even feel something when he inevitably died. It could have been better than the 'let's defend the castle instead of evacuating and get Roy killed' choice further down the road.
this is what happended to me as well the first time =P i REALLY sucked at duels back then but tbh, i didnt think that roy would look like the prince all THAT much, but when i saw him i was like "WHAT THE HELL??!!"
wow dude seriously this game pissed me off. its my first suikoden movie and i didn't know that when one of your character die in battle (in the battle field they die completely) well anyway that girl with the leopard died during the battle to take back Sol falena and in the end i was so confused why i didn't get the good ed. so i loaded a previous save and went back to the prince castle and looked at the list and her name so was the leopard guy was grayed out i was like wtf at first.
You can hit me if you want, but I actually enjoyed the english voices more than the japanese. Especially Arshtat had a great English voice actress. I usually prefer the original voices so that is kinda odd. Not that I hate the Japanese voices, but they just felt a little disappointing..
Thats exactly it. It is a video game not japanese culture. But llets just agree to disagree. lol I'm playing Tierkreis right now and bugging all my friends to get it so we might get Suikoden VI some time this console generation. lol
@FreeflyinPirate If you don't speak Japanese, how would you know whether or not the subtitles are accurate? I speak English and Japanese. I don't' automatically assume that the JP voice acting will be better. In my experience, however, I do tend to enjoy the JP VA's more.
I didn't say that a dub is better than the original. English voice actors have a much tougher job because of the reasons you stated. But to say that japanese voice actors are better than english voice actors is not true.The only way to truly find out would be to completely reanimate the show so it gives the english voice actors the same privaleges the japanese ones have. For all we know the japanese voice actors could have as much acting ability as those old 80's style robot voices.
I have to agree with Mgv as well. It's just a matter of preference. For me, I much prefer the English voice overs to the Japanese. I know that the japanese voice over would compliment someone with Japanese mannerisms like Lyon, but I just can't listen to that infantile falsetto for more than 4 seconds without wanting to pitch something heavy through my TV screen. In the interest of perserving my TV and my sanity, I will take the English voice over every single time.
I know what subs are for. lol My poijnt is that its ridiculous to think that voice actors in japanese are any better than english voice actors unless you know japanese. Everything that you stated has to do with animation and not the voice acting itself. The script has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. I'm only talking about the voice acting and the actors themselves.
But thats my point unless you know what they say in japanese you dont know its worse than their english counterpart. You can say the lip synching is worse which is totally valid but the voice acting argument is totally invalid.
I don't understand how people can prefer the japanese voice acting. Unless you know japanese how the hell can you understand what they're saying. For all you know their acting can be just as bad if not worse than the english dub. But watever.
i think is because of what language you hear first and you get used to tha voice that you dont like any other dub for that heres an example for me: Yu-gi-oh! English Rozen Maiden Japaness Dragon Ball series Mexican spanish i dont like Yugioh in japaness or Spanish i dont like Rozan Maiden in english i dont like dragon ball in englsih (the origina japaness voices were horrible)
