As far as I can remember, Sialeeds betrayed the prince because she didn't believe him to be able to rid the world of the Barows and Godwin family. instead, she used the power of the Twilight rune to do just that to allow her nephew and niece to rule the country in peace. I think she blames Lucretia for her sister's mental instability since it was she who had advised Arshtat to bear the Sun rune.
mathiu lack power and determination. he fail to either carry out the kalekka incident or completely stop it from happening. he was just running away. in the end of suikoden 1 story he forced himself in last war and eventually died in order to atone his sin.
the music when Frey was deciding if he should lead the operation or not was very nice...
