Yes! This video reminded me so much of my first Stellaris game, when everything felt fresh, you had to take the AI serious because you had no idea what you were doing and what they were actually capable of. So nostalgic.
@@igorthelight Yes, Stellaris certainly has a lot of awesome mods. Gigastructural engineering and ACOT are my all time favourites. But its hard to take it seriously after a couple of playthroughs, since more mods doesnt make the AI much better and once you've defeated the crisises a few times, they stop being that threatening. But for the newest dlc that came out last week for example I have not read anything about it to make it feel as new as possible and its actually fun. This is coupled with the fact that it is genuinly a good expansion. Another important thing is, that I've learned about the Stellaris graphic processor coupleing issue, where the game is being slowed down by your graphics card for some reason, even though your proccessor is more than capable to go faster. To fix that, you need to play the game in fullscreen settings and disable V-Sync. Dont ask why that is, that issue apparently has been in the code since the beginning and never got noticed or fixed. But playing with the new settings has improved the endgame performance dramatically. If you want to know more about it, there is a reddit post somewhere where everything is explained.
In CK3 you can colonize Finland with Nigerians. In HOI 4, you can destroy the whole world being Luxemburg. In Stellaris, you can blow up the Galaxy, playing with evil collective mind who likes Gaia worlds and uses alien races as their food, or creating a large slave worlds being an overlord of many other empires.
That was so fun to watch! Hope you continue this series. It's very rare to see such a well-made video about a newcomer trying stellaris. I still remember my first stellaris playthrough, I was so careful about the great unknown. It is to this day def in my top 5 playthroughs. I remember my robots becoming sentient and demanding rights or they would revolt and me going "WHAT ARE RIGHTS??" frantically searching through all the menus trying to find it before my empire implodes 😂. Good times
This video was one of the best and most enjoyable videos i have seen in a while, in general, and especially stellaris videos. This was so good, please play more/do more videos on Stellaris. Also that music over the space battles were epic.
Good video. I'm a CK player who played a little Stellaris when it first came out, got bored, and stopped. I've revisited over the last year and found it has gotten a lot more interesting. You mentioned that you wish CK3 had more things to discover, like Stellaris. I do feel that it's worth pointing out that Stellaris has many more years of events that have been added to the game. Also you are new to Stellaris but have been playing a lot of CK3. Once you've been playing Stellaris a while, having the event where you move the aliens off the gas giant or discover an atomic age civilization come up once again loses some of the same thrill, much like the way you get familiar with events in CK3. Granted, good events should be providing you with interesting choices whether you have seen them before or not. There is also the point that Stellaris is a game about discovery, while CK3 largely isn't. That might change though. Playing landless characters wandering around the map will have a very different dynamic. I would like to see more detailed pop and economy mechanics in CK3. On the one hand, I understand that nobility are not merchants. They let the little people handling all the grubbiness of business and simply skill off the top in the form of taxes, so I understand why it isn't essential. On the other hand, we are on the cusp of having unlanded characters in the game, which should lead to a much wider range of approaches to the game. Assuming the landless mechanics work you, it should really open the door to playing merchant families in a way that CK2 never really achieved. That would give them a good reason to really expand the economic side of the game. Looking the other direction at what I wish Stellaris could take from CK3, I wish Stellaris had actual characters. NPCs in Stellaris are basically just buffs you plug into a slot. Even factions feel largely lifeless. Speaking of factions, it's always annoyed me that factions only emerge over the course of the game. It seems like the empires of the game should be a lot more factionalized before you encounter other species. I find the early game can be pretty slow, especially once you seen most of the anomaly events a few times. Having actual internal politics in the early game would make the early game more interesting, and make empires more interesting overall.
I am in almost the exact opposite boat - I have been down deep on the Stellaris rabbit hole for years and started firing up CK2 and EU4 after not touching them for years. The exploration and discovery of Stellaris keeps me super engaged, even years later, but the same kind of random turns of drama in the CK games makes it really fun as well. I honestly would love to see a fusion of the two - a space 4X where you play as a single character/dynasty, not just an empire.

the video is pretty cool :y I also tried out Stellaris some time ago. It's.....different than CK3, but as you said, the discovery part is very thrilling. And the customization is very cool too. I have some optional advice for your potential future videos: When filming the ship battles, you could try to either have slow camera movements and zooms; with cuts in between the shots to redirect the points people look at, rather than jumping around with the camera like you'd do in the standard gameplay. That way it would be a bit more cinematic and easier to watch :3
Having played enough of this game to know pretty much every event off the top of my head, it's so refreshing and interesting to see it from a new player's perspective. Quick tip about the difficulty: Ensign is the default, where you're just playing the game as normal. I'd recommend that one. If you go below it, you, the player, will get bonuses to almost every part of your empire. At the lowest difficulty, civilian, you get for example double resources and fleet capacity compared to AIs. It is the opposite the higher you go, with the AI getting stupidly high bonuses to their economy and military at the grand admiral difficulty. If you want to try higher difficulties, there's a setting called "Difficulty scaling", which makes it so their buffs aren't applied in full right from the get-go, but is instead slowly increased as the game progresses, to try and match an experienced player's snowballing. It's a good setting, I'd recommend setting it to late game if you wanna try going higher difficulty at some point. Anyway, pretty nice video. The Stellaris expansion ads go so hard in those edits, very cool. :)
"Getting hit with any new Paradox UI is like getting hit by Mike Tyson" - oh, I felt that. I came back to Stellaris recently after a few years and just developing the muscle memory to navigate around was a process. That being said I must admit that I adore the simple, yet effective use of keys - WASD obviously let's you move around, but E allows you to quickly move out to galaxy map, while Q will focus camera on whatever you have selected, wherever in the galaxy it might be. Mastering E and Q really was the key to comfortably zooming around the map.
The focus on how cool the battles look through this is a banger decision. The battles in this game look so insane, its just a shame that watching the big ones can massively lag out your computer..
The reason why the other nations had awful military strength is because recent AI changes the devs made incorporated some community suggestions or contributions. Since that time the AI has been terrible with managing their economy, and thus terrible at being able to fund a strong military. I play ck2 and stellaris, from what i feel from the two games i can say ck2 is more focused on the character, and other characters around you, whereas in stellaris the empire is you're character vs the other empires. I enjoy both in their own way, but stellaris is my favourite of the two, mostly cause being an empire over an individual gives you a lot of freedom, and i like blowing up planets.
I started out with Stellaris and then learned CK3. I definitely think theres a lot of good Stellaris economic systems that they should port over but I'd also love to see more roleplay aspects in Stellaris like what CK3 has
I have nearly 2k hours in the game, I've been playing it since launch, and let me tell you; once the game starts to feel old and stale look to the workshop. New portraits, new planets, new civics, new origins, new tech, new megastructures, new policies, and most importantly new events. The base game and its DLC has a massive wealth of content, worthy of the Great Lakes. Add in mods and you're dealing with the Pacific ocean. Wish you many hours in the game.
Honestly, the Intel system that was added a few expansions ago was a great addition to the game. Originally, when you met a new empire (and there weren't First Contact events either) you knew exactly who they were, how strong they were compared to you, and what their borders were. Having to set up a spy network to gain intel to remove the fog of war was a distinct improvement. The only downside is that the actual spy missions are pretty useless most of the time.
It is a very long game, but if you stick with it the late game allows you to build some excellent sci-fi stuff and gives you a galaxy wide crisis that you have to deal with.

I WILL HAVE TO PRODUCE MORE!!
@@lrdhsy SORRY FOR ADDING TO THE BACKLOG THEN; PLS DONT OVERWORK YOURSELF!!!1! 😁
man, what is that tune from 2:00 - 2:28?
its Red Driver by Ben Elson
@@lrdhsy What is the music in the intro edit?
Feel powerful? Play with fallen empires. Itll change alot. Maybe with a crisis aswel. After thats easy just go pull up the difficulty
I'm not sure how to feel about the fact that someone with virtually zero experience in this game did better than some of my games, given I have over 700 hours... XD
Slugmen are just op
Damn, whenever I play I always end up the one with the shitty military
Just gotta mine extortionate amounts of alloy
U need all the dlc to make stellaris worth it. It’s an amazing game with soooooo many possibilities
Yeah but so expensive 😬
@@lrdhsy oh for sure.. ive been playing since day one so ive been able to buy them as they came out making it not as heavy on the pocketbook but when you can, if you really wanna enjoy everything the game has to offer, its worth it.. endless combinations and replay ability.. its one of my favorite games of all time... im thinking about getting CK3 and all its dlc but i find that one harder to get into. it feels like the diplomacy system in that game (at least vanilla) isnt all that great.. combat seems a little lack luster but maybe i just need to get the DLCs like stellaris.. ive only played it on gamepass where vanilla is "free"
I mean it’s on sale atm 👀
stellaris is an amazing game. its tied w ck3 for my fav paradox. id say ck3 has the stronger base game but stellaris has so so so many dlcs that are all so amazing i have to give it to stellaris if u can afford to shell out the extra money.
Might have to shell out 😬
ah yes, the one paradox game with a genocide button.
really nice video
Stellaris is closer to EU4... and EU4 is closer to CK3 then it is to Stellaris
"I found an automation button" ...oh no, oh god he clicked it
yeap watching new players is agony
I hope u enjoyed the agony
I hope you enjoyed yourself! Next game ... Purge the galaxy
😈
Great video, love to see the perspective from a new players eyes!
Now put the galaxy on the largest size and have a marathon >:)
I am always genuinely sad when the atomic age aliens blow themselves up. Imagine spending your lifetime studying an alien culture with the distinct possibility that in the next couple decades they invent their first space craft, only to watch from orbit as they blow themselves up.
Probs the coolest thing I saw in the game was the pre ftl civs. Such a good concept and rly immersive
Personally ck2 is one of the few paradox games i actually spend time on.
Not a legal copy tho god knows i cant afford that as a inhabitant of the balkans with no localized prices. i refuse to pay them a dime anyway

You have not yet reached te midgame and the endgame crisis. They are decently dificult and you do need some skill to even have a chance of defeating them.
How many hours until mid game?
Thats locust... That 2.4k is a lie. I swear its really 4k power.
Ikr scared the shit outa me when it tanked my fleet
hardest vid so far more of Stellaris rahhhh 😩
I would highly suggest continuing to at least 2450 before quitting :)
I guess I’ll have to continue 😁
VIVA STELLARIS
As much as stellaris have insade wtf stuff,, it probady best paradox big strategy for new player... You will almost never lose at standard dif, you gona be weak as hell but more world you lose in rebelions ect, more stable you gona be, and only way will be to have very agresive ai near by... Even than you may just become vasals
You leave that galaxsy just become you feel like you can do better nexst time and not becuse you was kick out ( if some fans of purge not spawn near by ) 😅
Space genocide simulator go brrrr
Lets feel xenophobic, its really in this year...
