    You're one of the few reactors that actually noticed the Staff was affecting the team in that room. It's wild how many I've seen just not notice it when it was plainly shown

    25:30 Wellllll . . . If you recall from Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers isn't the sort who blindly follows orders when he disagrees with them. When it comes to following orders versus Doing The Right Thing (at least, according to his now anachronistic moral standards), he will pretty much always choose the latter. It's a fascinating aspect of his character that they could have done so much more with.

    This movie is so rewatchable. They really did a great job integrating so many different heroes into one movie while progressing their individual stories as well as creating interesting dynamics between the various members. (and with Hawkeye and Black Widow, establishing very important aspects to their characters) And RIP Phil. I understand why you were teary-eyed near the end of the movie there, unfortunately you haven't even begun to cry in the MCU. I cannot wait to see you enjoy the laughs, the tears, the action, future character origins, the love stories, and the intertwining overall story arch that will eventually come together. It can seem like a long journey, but as you just saw with this Avengers movie, it can be really epic!! I absolutely look forward to what you've thought by the end of "Avengers: Endgame".

    To echo @RecentCobra , well spotted with the scepter affecting everyone. Also, you noticed how messed up Tony’s suit was after he got the turbine up and running; it’s not often I’ve seen folks comment about that on their first watch.
    A bit of trivia for you, which I wish I could say I noticed myself but someone pointed it out to me: early on, Shield sends folks to get the Avengers. Natasha gets “the big guy”, and hands Bruce a cell phone with some info on the Tesseract. Coulson gets Tony, and gives him a full set of information in a format that Tony can load onto his computer with his 3-D imaging setup. Fury gets Steve and hands him information on the Cube in a manila folder, because that’s how information was managed in the 40’s. That’s some first-rate attention to detail right there.

    • @testfire3000
      @testfire3000 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Loki complimented Natasha for being able to sneak up on him. That not many could do that. In the end the entire Avenger team snuck up on Loki! “If it’s all the same to you. I’ll have that drink now.” LOL!
    My family had so much fun that at the end of the movie, we went for Shawarma to celebrate!

  • @Emburbujada
    @Emburbujada 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Poor Loki. So misundertood XD I love the details at the start of the movie. When we first see Loki, he's really not in the best of states, you can see he's been through unhappy times, it's even hard for him to jump in the back of the truck. And the actor does a really good job at showing his fear when he's threatened with torture, because you can tell that he'd already gone through that... Joss did such a good job writing that character.

  • @ohctascooby2

  • @danharris5999
    @danharris5999 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Everyone loves Loki because he's so interesting to watch on screen. And that's in part because of the actor, Tom Hiddleston. Loki is so condescending to us mere humans. And that evil sneer when he makes his first appearance. Did you know that he originally auditioned for the part of Thor? Also, the very first issue of the comic was the heroes teaming up to fight Loki. Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Cap was still frozen in the ice until issue#4

    You’ve seen Firefly and Serenity, so you know Joss Whedon’s work. As much of an ass as he is, he was really good at his job. He was absolutely the right choice to write and direct this movie, and he made what could have been a disaster into an incredibly enjoyable experience with more emotional ties than anyone expected.

    • @Educated2Extinction
      @Educated2Extinction 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whedon did a great job with the Avengers, but that's 1 of 23 films in the Infinity Saga. Feige was the driving force behind that, and it's likely something that will never be matched.
      Iron Man = Robert Downey Jr.
      Batman = ?
      If asked to summarize Batman's character arc, you have to ask which one.
      There is no Tony Stark but Robert Downey Jr, and the Infiniity Saga contains his story.

    1:04:24 - The reason for the "hype" was because the MCU was the first to tell several connected origin stories and then combining them into an ensemble cast movie called The Avengers. Before that, superhero flicks were just individual heroes with sequels (e.g. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man) between the late 1970s and mid 2000s (With the first X-Men movie, they were already a team and eventually Marvel went back and did their origins with prequels).

  • @dracoargentum9783

    2:42 no, while looking for Captain America, when he was first lost, Howard Stark (Tony’s father) had only the tesseract’s signature to hunt with, so he found it in the ocean long before they had located Steve [the scene where the assistant says they found the Tesseract, but there was no sign of wreckage, and Howard sighs and insisted that they proceed to the next grid, anyway]

    I've never really been a superhero fan before the MCU. I've enjoyed some superhero movies but no more than that. The genius of the MCU is that they have managed to create a cohesive universe where the characters get to grow over time and with it our attachment to them. I won't spoil anything for you but that cohesive story held together for a long time, so bring tissues: more emotional movies are in store for you. Great reaction, Andy!

    No spoilers, but the villain reveal in the credits was an Easter Egg for all of us comic nerds who recognized him immediately and it gave us the gift of knowing who the main villain in the arc was going to be. A gift of knowledge that we could share with the non-comic-nerd civilians with a knowing, "you'll see" and a smile. One of the reasons Marvel heroes (both in the comics and in the MCU movies) are popular is because they are all different characters but they all share a basic humanity and a vulnerability that allows us to identify with them.

    Not sure what your plans are with regards to the streaming shows, but since you're officially done Phase 1, I wanted to mention that the Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher) start toward the tail end of Phase 2 and are considered canon once again (and certain things will be come relevant as you get deeper into the movies/Disney+ shows), so do recommend watching. ...They're also (mostly) really quite good (...the first season of Iron Fist is a bit of a slog, but it does get better in the second... sort of). They're also not terribly long (13ish episodes per show season). The first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones in particular are probably some of the best work Marvel has done with the streaming side of things.

      Jessica Jones season one was amazing. Terrific action, great story telling and so freaking dark.

    Amazing reaction, this film is excellent but in my opinion infinity war and endgame are on another level. You are in for one hell of a ride, am envious that you have got it all to come.

    Wow, you are in for a ride. It gets even better as they keep building. I can't wait to see your reaction to Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame eventually. There is a lot more before you get there though. Tons of great stuff and great characters to be introduced.

    Writer Jo Walton has this Spearpoint Theory, "There comes a point in writing, and it's a spear-point, it's very small and sharp but because it's backed by the length and weight of a whole spear and a whole strong person pushing it, it's a point that goes in a long way. Spearpoints need all that behind them, or they don't pack their punch in the same way."
    For me, this Avengers movie is the spearpoint movie. If you haven't seen the individual movies leading up to this, "The Avengers" won't pack anywhere near the same punch. The previous MCU movies together form the spear behind "The Avengers" spearpoint.
    There are other spearpoints later in the MCU #noSpoilers but this is the first. That IMO is the great innovation of the MCU movies, using stand-alone movies to build up an overarching storyline. It's been done in the comics medium but the MCU was the first to do it in movie format.

      Ooo, I love that. I agree, it is one of the reasons why so many people have problems with the MCU, because they don't want to go back and watch more than a decade of movies just to understand the latest ones. Which is why I love these reaction channels like Andi's who goes in completely blind and works through them step by step.

    There's a point in the MCU, somewhere around Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where the quality ramps up and gets EVEN BETTER and consistently so from that point

    Dont remember if it was just a theory or confirmed that Loki was actually under the effects of the scepter as well until hulk swung him around and cognitively recalibrated him.

    Why dose everyone like Loki? Let's see, me at the end of the Loki show on Disney + with my jaw so wide open I had to pick it up off the floor 😧🤨☺😆🤣😂 Loki is the best story so far. Your just seeing him like this right now. Oh just wait. 😊

    Loki isn't really "bad", but he isn't really "good" either. Loki is... Loki is the God of Mischief. It's both that simple and that complicated. 🤷‍♀️

    38:58 We like Loki as a fictional character, kind of like how we like Peter Griffin (Family Guy) and Roger the alien (America Dad). They would be absolutely horrible people if it were real life, but as fictional characters they make the shows interesting. Loki's double nature, both good and evil, makes for interesting plot twists.

    Oh! Here's some non spoilery background information. In the comics Thanos is literally a Death worshipper, so much so that he tries to 'woo' the incarnation of Death, which happens to be feminine. That's why they had him grin when his minion said 'to court death.'

    There were two blue glowing objects in the Thor movie. One was the frost Giants key weapon the casket of eternal winters. The other objects shown in Thor's post credit scene was the tesseract. Which has the same elements as Tony Stark's Arc reactor he's using now with the new element Tony rediscovered in the iron Man 2. The new Arc reactor is a synthetic version of the cosmic cube aka the tesseract without the cosmic property. The tesseract is also the space infinity stone and every infinity stone give off gamma-ray radiation which effects anyone around them. Gamma rays can increase anger which is why all of the heroes were arguing and Bruce had no control over the hulk who's mind was clouded with burning rage. The hulk and Bruce banner are two separate identities but due to the events of the incredible hulk movie the threshold for the transformation to trigger has changed so it won't happen by accident. Also Bruce has discovered if he triggered the transformation himself Bruce has more control over the hulk actions.

      "Which has the same elements as Tony Stark's Arc reactor he's using now with the new element Tony rediscovered in the iron Man 2. The new Arc reactor is a synthetic version of the cosmic cube aka the tesseract without the cosmic property."
      I'm pretty sure none of this was ever claimed or said in any of the movies. It's just fan speculation/fan fiction.
      "and every infinity stone give off gamma-ray radiation which effects anyone around them."
      Ditto this.
      "Gamma rays can increase anger which is why all of the heroes were arguing"
      None of this is ever said in any of the movies.
      " but due to the events of the incredible hulk movie the threshold for the transformation to trigger has changed so it won't happen by accident."
      I won't say you're just making all this up, but you've picked it from some source that just made it all up. None of these things are canon.
      Moreover, we see Hulk transform in this very movie in the helicarrier without it being intentional, just as it happens again in AGE OF ULTRON, which is why Bruce is constantly worrying about it (despite what he says in this movie about "I'm always angry," which also contradicts what you're saying in a different way), and why he eventually goes away in a quinjet.

    Yeah... a *big* clue that Loki was right where he wanted to be, when Tony and Thor spend all that time fighting and Cap has to step in and THE WHOLE TIME Loki just... waits.
    They were playing right into his hands at that point. He's an expert manipulator.
    And to answer your question, I quite love him. :P Some of the reasons for that are spoilery at this point, but he already had my sympathy at this point, to a certain extent. He's operating out of a lot of hurt and self-loathing and confusion. It doesn't excuse his actions, but it does explain them to a point. He's a fascinating character with a lot of charisma and complex characterization.
    It IS okay to like the villain as long as he's fictional. ;)
