Thanks for the video! Beautiful sunset views! How do you think the Pyraomm compares to the Durston X-mid and MLD Duomid in high winds and other inclement weather?
@@thegeordiewildcamper Thanks 😃 I've been particularly curious about the wind performance of the PyraOmm. There are many reviews and videos on the X-mid and Duomid, but hardly any on the PyraOmm. My guess would be that it has the same wind performance as the Duomid because of the similar geometry and materials. But you never know before you try it out in real world conditions. So I was excited to see that you've used both the PyraOmm and Duomid 🙏
I went out last weekend with a 15 pound pack and got mistaken for a day hiker. It’s the best. Also, for the weight of that shelter setup, consider the X-Mid Pro 1. It’s 16 oz and worth the weight for the big protection.
Wicked Video... Yeah im iffy with ultra lightweight, some stuff is cool but i'm far more for comfort, if i'm miserable i wont go back out and sleep is top of list hahah ive actually just had my 1st night on the Big Agnes Zoom, really comfy, i normally use Rapid and i didn't notice any difference in comfort, its lighter material and around 550g. You can see the pack size compared to the rapid on my page, its teeny size a good 3rd smaller
Morning to you TGW. Another stunning video in the beautiful Northumberland hills. Good luck to you and jess for st cuthberts way. Its a stunning trail. I only got to morebattle when i did it as i did my back in and had to drop out of it. Looking forward to seeing the journey. 🎉 take care and have fun with it 😊. Good test for that tent mind
Thank you for all the gear reviews you do! As a newbe to this yourself and a few other channels are class for info and ideas for me and my reluctant mrs starting off wild camping. Cheers mate
Never seen the fascination with the ultra light tents, a large fart and they rattle. Held up well though to be fair to it. I’d sooner carry a few more KG and know I’m bunkered down safe. Nice video mate, looked a bit haggard in the morning 😂 there’s nothing worse than a sleepless night. ATB 👍🏼
Really like that set up, can’t complain at 2.6kg. The tent held up pretty well, I’m still on the market for a trekking pole shelter. Nice well shot vid mate, some good kit there 👍. Atb Dave
Hi mate. Randomly discovered your channel when looking up videos about the x mid - I ended up ordering the 1p mesh, yet to try it out. Oddly enough, I have just been looking up quilts and am torn between hyberg / cumulus / khiba at the minute, and when searching videos for them up you pop again! How do you rate the Hyberg? It's a bloody minefield trying to decide which quilt/temp to go for up here, when you're used to sleeping bags...I'm north east too by the way (sanddancer here)!
the hyberg is a great quilt - although id say limit is around 1c. Cumulus have a great reputation...have you tried quilts before? my advice would be to try one out first - look at the flames creed quilt excellent value.
It’s a good set up and no arguing with the weight but I’m after a well ventilated tent around the 1kg mark that doesn’t use trekking poles. Any suggestions mate?
Sorry Graham, just see this - theres so many...is there a reason you are opposed to not using trekking poles? id seriously consider the Durston X-mid. With Poles Big Agnes copper Spur is 1.1kg? Vango f10 or budget friendly naturehike cloud up 1/2? have a look at those mate
@@thegeordiewildcamper thanks, I'll check those out. I don't generally use trekking poles as my hands are usually carrying a tripod and video gear and I find I get less filming done with keeping swapping over- not much of a reason, I know 😂
I always wondered why campers dont take handheld GMRS or CBs with them! it's a great hobby you can chat as entertainment to kill some time, you guys are up high on mountains so would get the ranges for miles, Plus they are just a little extra safety feature so no brainer all round good bit of kit for very little money!!
@@thegeordiewildcamper I think that's a gmrs so legally you would need to tune it to the cb bands, but yeah I'm the same I don't fully understand it all yet!! My take is gmrs is licenced and has a better range and cb is public, maybe a radio enthuisiast could set us both straight it would be a good idea lol.
@@thegeordiewildcamper Haha me too I have a cb in my van but I dunno much about gmrs but thought it was an idea so just threw it out there lol, good video btw.
Nice video, got lucky with that sunset.😍 I've spent too many nights that were forecast to be "calm" being battered by winds to chance going ultralight, I'll take something that's weighty but bombproof for the peace of mind. Saying that I wouldn't like to carry my setup 61 miles. 😳 👍
Thanks for the video! Beautiful sunset views! How do you think the Pyraomm compares to the Durston X-mid and MLD Duomid in high winds and other inclement weather?
I’d think they are pretty comparable. Both great depends if you want a bit more room with the x-mid and the 4 season inner?

do you use an inlay/ liner for for sleeping bag? or not to save weight?
not for me mate - no liner
Looking good mate must try a trecking pole tent
You should!
