We live next to an underground river, which moves along under the later made street, through huge concrete pipe sections, to an open wide canal. This used to be a flooded area with birds etc. and long ago someone had this bright idea. The pipes were enlarged last year. Why, I don't know. I am wondering about this, as we have had 3 years of draught and now the water underground is rushing away faster. I just think that some of our huge trees which depend on this water source, will just topple over one day, due to these extremes. Our rain runs into several underground pits. The grass doesn't absorb much. The water seeps down through small metal grate openings, and thus clears the walkways. The water then soaks down into our mostly sandy 'earth.' We have no hills here directly, but sometimes those covered gathering pits can overflow and we wade into our building. So, has anyone really solved these problems with Mother Nature? Is your State responsible for any of it?
Good luck with that task 👍
