  • @ASH-ou4cg

    You hit the nail on the head too, when you mentioned all the overlaying textures, helping to add to the overall sound. That is exactly what it was all about. Layers, upon layers of sounds and pads, helping to create the lush, invoking atmosphere, that helped to make that sound as iconic as it is. Definitely mood boosting and vibe invoking stuff. Highly underrated these days. You really need to make more of this stuff. As mentioned elsewhere, you make it look so easy and you can clearly pull it off. More please!

    I was actually surprised to find out you aimed for a 163 bpm...only to then check and find out Pehsay 's Piano Tune is 156 bpm. Blew my mind as I've been trying to do this in the 176-178 range. This sounds so so much better. It really does give the drums space to move.

  • @diversity333
    @diversity333 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Thanks - this helped confirmed some of the techniques i was using for this style. Was also super helpful to see the full arrangement at the end of the video. This is often overlooked in tutorials, where so much time is spent developing the busiest 8-16 bars of a track. I find it's crucially important to think about how you are going to keep the track interesting for the whole 3-5 minutes, which means intro, breakdowns, and outro are vital.

    • @mb2776
      @mb2776 ปีที่แล้ว

      luckily, most of the time the arrangement of ambient atmo intelligent call it whatever jungle is not that hard. sometimes it's hard to start from the beginning, another aproach is to make a really busy loop and then mute certain parts to get an idea. especially, only the pads with some hi hat hits in the beginning is a common way to start a track.

    Back in ‘96, Mr. Brown came by my place and brought some crates of jungle vinyl with him. I was strictly hip-hop and turntablism back then. He started handing me records to spin and this was the style of jungle I remember playing (although I had no idea what it was at the time). Fast forward to ‘98 and a buddy brought me to a DJ Hype party and as I entered the club, he was dropping his Shook Ones remix and a lifelong junglist was born at that very moment. Big up, Stranjah!!
