140 when there's a song and around 160 when it's for some more instrumental , faster tempo makes slice & sound manipulations more close to each other as tempo is faster , less time to analyse what is happenig i the music leads to just listen to it as it would be too much infos to analize in a mesure - this momment when music is too complex to be analyzed in real time ...
@@STRANJAH I vaguely remember hearing some tunes with snares that while they arent skull snaps have a reminiscent phatness. Always wondered if it was layering or saturation.
Used to love jungle and D&B until I dj'd a mental free party in Sheffield in '98 and someone stole ALL my tunes. I was so sad that I couldn't bring myself to buy jungle or D&B for years (that's how gutted I was). Anyway, Stranjah. I make other music these days, but Just wanted to say wheneber i visit your channel I feel inspired to get back to this music. Your defo one of the best people sharing musical knowledge on here, so big ups man and peace!!
Funny that I was just thinking to myself . How about Stranjah demystifyies the aphrodite signature bass sound. Or the dj ss harmonically rich 808 style bass. Years ago i actually asked Gavin Aphrodite himself ....guess what ?.... he never really told me lol. Just said some vintage gear hmmmm.
you do not want it to go more mainstream. Look what happened to Dubstep. At least right now if you go to a Jungle night anywhere in the world you're likely to hear bangers.
We use to play 1990/91Hardcore in the London clubs at around 140/150 bpm, that transition from 1993-94 was the game changer going into the darker breaks of 155/163 (early Jungle days), i enjoyed the speed up ,so I'm down with both BPM speeds, they work well what you've done. .. Also listen to "2 BAD MICE bomb scare , & hold it down " and not forgetting Champion sound (Great work! and its good to hear that jungle is going back to old sounds and breaks structures)
The compilation Speed Limit 140 BPM+ Volume 3 "The Joint" is essential listening for this type of stuff, it was right around this time they were diving into the pitch shifting on the Akai samplers and chopping up a lot of breaks. It's always been a favourite of mine.
This is a great video. Not just for breaks but for any audio based rhythmic and melodic chopping. Thanks again! Also I grabbed your Jungle and Liquid packs - 5 ⭐️ for those!
I love doing this, in FL Studio, some things are harder in FL, other things are way easier though. Favorite tempo: 145 or 163.75 (Embers Breaks or Jembers)
wicked Tutorial mighty Stranjah. I think this example better at 140, for the 163 you'd have made it better suited in the construction from the outset. big ups man! sharing the knowledge
Great video. So glad you whacked the bpm up at the end as that was all I kept thinking about how it would sound sped up! Sounded best at 160 to me but good at 140 too.
Stranjah, have you ever worked with Renoise? I would love to see a video where you mess around with it for a bit. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge with us, much love!
163 mate. A good tip is to alter the transient length on the sample under the beats section. Change it to the arrow that points to the right and bring down the length so it sounds snappy. A good example of this is given on the channel Tom Foolery.
This is exactly the video I was looking for! It just took me 5 years to find it, amazing. Please more vids on these slow UK breaksy numbers, I beg you. Tune sounds v similar to Benton. TOP NOTCH AGAIN STRANJAH.
I actually love stuff at this tempo and 90's flavoured Dnb in general, I feel like you can hear a the crustiness of the breaks much more and definitely more into it than the more clinical, non breakbeat stuff. Some of the newer skee mask stuff would definitely come into this category I feel! Cool videos, always inspiring and something for beginners and more seasoned producers! Keep up the good work!
Amazing tutorial, i'm adapting to FL Studio DAW, i think that i can do it without difficulties... About the tempo, 140 for me is more like to an chill vibe and 163 to ragga jungle more heavy oriented tracks!
hey stranjah, would you be able to do a video on how to mix drum breaks as this is something I have struggled with previously. E.g. Is it necessary to split the kicks, snares and shakers into individual audio tracks for mixing or is it better to mix the break as a whole?
Can you do a video on ways to make your track more interesting. Mainly stuff like cool transitions, variations of drops while keeping the songs sound cohesive, ear candy stuff, proper sound layering, and most importantly transitions and fills! Would be much appreciated
Hey! I have been searching for a nice Amen for a breakbeat song for such a long time and I stumbled upon this video and I heard the "hotpants" sample. That sample sounds so good and it is exactly what I have been looking for! But unfortunately, the link in the description is not working :/ it says that the file is deleted. So Stranjah, could you please upload the sample again? I would be very very thankful and appreciate it a lot. Thanks!
Love the idea with the Spotify playlists mate! Such a good thing for DJ's, Producers and the listeners to have access to. Also, 140bpm sounded sick, 163 needed playing with a little to sound tighter. Big love!
is there a tutorial for the 808 bass made in this tutorial? sounds a bit different than others ive seen? sounds more like zombys 808s in his productions and its sick
I prefer this at 140, it sounds a bit too pitched up at 163. But it works at both. Thanks for making this tutorial though - Gonna try something similar on my Polyend Tracker :)
Stranjah, I love your work. You're a great teacher, and I know what i'm talking about cause so am I. Everything is so clear and perfectly understandable. You give us the the feeling that it's easy anyone can do it. Soooooo inspiring. Thank you thank you thank you, from a junglist massive (1998 I was there). Hey, if you ever need a sax track or sax licks in your production, send me a msg, I'm a pro sax player; It would be an honnor. ;)
What is your favourite BPM to make music in? Also, help this video get 1000 likes! 😀
160 - 168 has some vibes. especially from the likes of fracture, sam binga, chimpo etc
I can't had a favorite bpm, like i can't had a favorite genre :O
156-164. I'm basic *cryface*
160

please do a video on 90s ambient jungle like peshay or ltj bukem
Love that stuff
Oooh lots of likes we'll see.
STRANJAH yeess :))
Yees pleaseee 😯🤫
Pascal. Cool manoeuvre 👊
alright.. that intro made me IMEEEEEDIATELY sub
Means a lot. Big fan of your channel and your music!
Nice. !! Fan of you both !
Ricky Tinez on Stranjah video! Two of the TH-cam greats in one place! 👌🔥✌️
Fancy meeting you here. :D
Not going to lie, Shift+Drag to timestretch made my jaw-drop. Can't believe that little nugget passed me by all this time!
Me 5 seconds ago
I think the 140bpm version is beautiful! Favourite break has to be the Skull Snaps Break. It sounds so evil.
Love Skull Snaps break, so phat that snare. And groovey.
@@STRANJAH I vaguely remember hearing some tunes with snares that while they arent skull snaps have a reminiscent phatness. Always wondered if it was layering or saturation.
@benny2k181 Is that the break from their song It's a New Day?
You make the process of designing a rhythm look so effortless. Loving your videos.

your teaching is a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity!
Stranhah you just go from strength to strength with your videos these vids are gold dust.
Just that intro must have taken an hour or so to edit. Hats off man!
Tips on ‘96 style jump up bass creation would be epic
One of the best years!
god yes 🔫
Funny that I was just thinking to myself . How about Stranjah demystifyies the aphrodite signature bass sound. Or the dj ss harmonically rich 808 style bass.
Years ago i actually asked Gavin Aphrodite himself ....guess what ?.... he never really told me lol. Just said some vintage gear hmmmm.
Even the intro got chopped. Quality information as always. Thanks Stranjah
Had to do it justice with the chopped video!
This was great..just for info..people like Soundmurderer...Venetian snares..pastaman..do this on trackers mostly..a bit different.. Lovely guidance !!
What an absolute legend , this has been the best production help iv seen out there I’m learning so much 💜massive legend
the intro was WICKED man 🔥🔥🔥
So much fun to mess with love reverse hits with a added reverb. Jungle is like playing with Legos to me.
I’m personally love to work at 165! That gets my my hips shaking much more :)
BOH BOH BOH... Working on a few at 160 these days.. but always jumping around.
immediately added this to my likes because of that intro alone lmao. Amazing
You're a beast, dude. I really want jungle to go more mainstream than ever! It still sounds futuristic and dope after all these years!!
you do not want it to go more mainstream. Look what happened to Dubstep. At least right now if you go to a Jungle night anywhere in the world you're likely to hear bangers.

Prefer 163 over 140, but then again I always prefer the oldskool jungle choppage. Great vid!
These intros are getting better and better!
Best intro in youtube history

I agree, I own the whole collection of 140bpm, try also the album from A Guy Called Gerald: Essence.
This is a great video. Not just for breaks but for any audio based rhythmic and melodic chopping. Thanks again! Also I grabbed your Jungle and Liquid packs - 5 ⭐️ for those!
Thanks Alex that is a thoguhtful comment you're right can be applied to any time of sample! Thank you for supporting my packs as well!
I love doing this, in FL Studio, some things are harder in FL, other things are way easier though.
Favorite tempo: 145 or 163.75 (Embers Breaks or Jembers)
1 like with speed 160-180! I love that riddim you cooked up here. 163 bpm jad me instantly. Great tips I will give them a go. ! Big up! Peace!
glad u enjoyed!
That tune is one of those where you make it slow and airy but DJ’s gonna play it at +6 and that’s cool
I love the fact that almost the entire Special Request debut album is on that playlist.
You are the Master of Breaks!
Just happy you name checked Sully! Great tutorial
Ive been looking for this type of music mane, thanks for making a whole playlist!! 140 jungle is crazy
Prefer it slightly more towards 145-150 for that bit of extra speed
Rite, i am now obssesed with 140 bpm jungle.
wicked Tutorial mighty Stranjah. I think this example better at 140, for the 163 you'd have made it better suited in the construction from the outset. big ups man! sharing the knowledge
Drum and bass laboratory. Many thanks for your work!
Mad, I was watching your jungle tutorials yesterday and started making a 140 jungle tune. This channel is too sick, big ups man!
Cheers Jake, fun tempo to produce in!
Great video. So glad you whacked the bpm up at the end as that was all I kept thinking about how it would sound sped up! Sounded best at 160 to me but good at 140 too.
I'll always be so grateful for the incredible tutorials and help you give, but not as much as this intro
i went from laughing to choking at 1.25x
His intros are absolutely magical
140 is just nasty in the best way possible
Stranjah, have you ever worked with Renoise? I would love to see a video where you mess around with it for a bit. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge with us, much love!
These dances keep getting better and better
Also 174 bpm
I'm looking forward to trying this kind of thing. Sounds awesome at 140 to me.

STRANJAH th-cam.com/video/K6O4YUw7BA0/w-d-xo.html @8:45 on the video
You're the man STRANJAH ..thanks again for another great video
Best tutorials out! As for BPM, like everything else in life, I prefer variety.
I just love the vibing in your video intros! They make my day!
Great tutorial, would love one on the Swamp 81 sound!
Hey brother, I heard Amen Fury back in 2013 and had a particular fondness toward it. I had no idea you had such a fun YT channel, I love it !

163 is sick, great job
thank you
Podrías hablar sobre JOE FORD , AKOV o MEFJUS ?
Amazing tutorial, i'm adapting to FL Studio DAW, i think that i can do it without difficulties...
About the tempo, 140 for me is more like to an chill vibe and 163 to ragga jungle more heavy oriented tracks!
Love your videos dude. Nice pace, not too fast and you explain things really well with simple language.
You smashed the intro
Both sound good.
hey stranjah, would you be able to do a video on how to mix drum breaks as this is something I have struggled with previously. E.g. Is it necessary to split the kicks, snares and shakers into individual audio tracks for mixing or is it better to mix the break as a whole?

@@STRANJAH Thanks a lot, man! Superb!
118 BPM. hardcore breakbeat is smooth and deep at this temp. I like it)
That's a unique tempo!
Ooooh yeah I've literally just started a 140 breakbeat piece thank you so much!
Very useful, thank you.
nice ... some things to learn here for sure
Oooo love this! Helpful for IDM and Breakcore production too
Glad it was helpful!

Check out my RaveCore playlist on spotify wont be disappointed.
both tempos are good in their own respect i think. i vibe with both:)
Dance moves get better and better

i am loving the 163 bmpm
don't forget to chop the little hi hat hits too! can be great to add space
This is dope. I make hip hop but I’ll use some of these techniques
the intro is incredible ;)
Thank you so much for sharing you’re knowledge, I’ve learned so much in this video, Big Ups!
I prefer this at 140, it sounds a bit too pitched up at 163. But it works at both. Thanks for making this tutorial though - Gonna try something similar on my Polyend Tracker :)
Amazing video, great for the lesser-known shortcuts like shift+drag
Thanks! That was very helpful. More old school stuff would be great. And how about a video about combining breaks and drum samples?
Champion Sound by Q Project is the pinnacle of that slower jungle sound.
Bro this was so helpful ! I was bopping my head every time that sick break played haha
This was so informative!!! Thanks dude
Looking forward to get the DnB production videos. Cheers
I'll check the class for sure
Prefer the 140 bpm version. Great video 👍!
Remarc is the king of Jungle. He is the king of the Amen, he is the king of the jungle.
Thanks so much for this tutorial!! Has this tune been released by anychance? If not please please do its such a mad breakbeat/jungle riddim!
I’ll look into it thx!
Interesting video and very useful to explore in other DAWs as well! Thanks for sharing!
Stay safe and creative!
Man this was a GREAT video. Thanks from Madrid.
Thank you Stranjah!
dude this helped me so much, thank you
This is gold Stranjah, thank you!
cheers glad you enjoyed it!
Was lovin it at 140 bpm but when you cranked it to 163 I was back in the rave!
game changing for me, thanks!
