"If you love drum and bass and dance music..." No mate, we love you banging out better free content than some are charging a fee for! Absolute legend! 💯
One of my fav amen break tunes isn't really even in the jungle/dnb canon, it's Squarepusher's "Port Rhombus", just reminded me of that massive nostalgia trip! :D
This feels like some secret, master-key knowledge that I don't have clearance to have access to. Like, any minute now, Babylon gonna smash down my front door and bust in my yard. This is like the Junglist Ark of the Convenant and we're being blessed to be given an audience!
This was one of the most amazing videos I have ever watched on youtube. 7 out of the 10 tracks deconstructed, I own the vinyl, bought between 93-94, some of the best years of my life raving to Jungle. This video was perfectly done, and the breaks deconstructed, and it really gave me chance to see the DNA, of the tracks I loved soo much. After this video I had to subscribe to you, also I love when you play the final deconstruction, yoy show Lives screen at angle, nice touch.
Ive been making Rap Beats for 10 Years, Ive decided to get into Drum & Bass and you've made it so EASY! Great Job, also, you should definitely show us how to recreate the Old School patterns with Midi.
It was produced by Undercover Agent aka Splash. I won't mention his name but the man was a true visionary. Dubplate Circles, Oh Gosh and many more. I remember hearing it on dubplate via Pirate radio and my Jamo's were rumbling - happy memories.
Hello STRANJAH. Thank you for this little tutorial. I think you must be the only one on the internet to have done this work on the AMEN BREAK. Big respect STRANJAH
Oh my word! Hearing all those iconic tracks being made sent shivers down my spine. You are a legend mate. Thank you so much for sharing this, it has been extremely educational.
im just a standard rock & funk drummer... but ive always had a weak spot for music history so ive loved the amen break. this was so cool to watch. thanks for making this
UK here. Grew up in West London and remember when jungle arrived like a bulldozer. The first 10 seconds really bought the memories back. Subbed to you, fantastic presentation. I'd love to learn how to create this stuff.
This is absolutely unreal tutorial. I’m just getting into this after after not touching any production in years. You’ve just helped kick me in a huge way
I’m not a producer or anything, just a long time jungle fan but may I say this video is absolutely wonderful, FWIW my favourite amen/ baseline combo is MTS - Hard Disk
Gotta say that this vid came spot on, especially Splash Babylon as I have been listening to it on repeat during the past two weeks. Legend that just cant get old no matter what. Big up
More tutorials like this! Where you show the real real raw business! Really prefer these with a quick product plug vs reviews of things sent to reviewers for free in exchange for a video. Great job reworking these and thanks for using audio!
my god, man. every time I think I love jungle and the amen break as much as is possible, I somehow love it more! This video is so great! Choppage is this this mad thing, where when you actually know how it is done, it doesn't take away any of it's charm or magic: it only gets more magical.
Big up from Burlington my friend. I remember when all these records originally dropped in the warehouses. Thanks again for all your contributions to the beloved scene.
Okay no worries I just got to the bit where you plug your serum presets. Thanks for the vid btw.... I am old enough to have been raving to to this stuff way back in the day. Always wondered how it was done. Of course they were all doing it on akais and emus.
Really great video - you made some excellent pedagogical choices in using audio rather than MIDI, isolating and describing the component parts of the break, and colour-coding the clips. This is the stuff that sets you above the rest! I'd love to see a follow-up video on drumfunk choppage/programming in the style of Paradox and Nucleus, as well as how to get that gritty signature sound.
Damn I'd love to see, especially how to get that fatass Equinox Amen sound... I think it's a pitched down amen with a high resonance filter but I haven't quite figured it out yet
I’m not feeling the ads however your video was great. I had no idea most of these tracks were using the end of the break like that. Even more interesting is your TH-cam handle... “Stranjah”.... it rings a bell!!! So I looked on discogs and yep, your him! You made one of my favorite jungle records, the 2000 era remix of Hardrive “Deep inside”. I liked that so much that when I visited 611 Records in philly, right before it closed, I saw your record on Version VER001 and I bought it just because you made it. Ads aside, I like your videos and I’m glad I have two of your records.
When I first listened to jungle in the 90s I thought these producers were like god's of drum programming, when you break it down like this it really shows how simple the music was.
I think this is my favorite video on your channel! Love how you broke down the amen and showed everything visually in audio. In addition to other Amen patterns, it would be awesome to see this style done with other iconic breaks, especially Think!
Fantastic video .....always loved to hear a mangled amen but never really got my head around how to make complex cuts like this......makes sense now......thanks
New to your channel. The thing I like most about your videos is that you give us proper demonstration of how to present your music with hand gestures. It will come of use when I start gigging.
Jeezus... I needed this video... This is more DAW oriented, but I'm going to recreate this whole video to really learn the Amen... then I think I can program this into the TR8s as well to create my own Amens... then sample this to the sp404 to resample into a regular pattern.... Damn, I got to get to work on this!
Hey Dude. Im just going to take the time to say thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge. I think im up to date with your packs 🤣 which have been a great help. I think i strayed from the path for a while and you have got me right back on track man. Thanks Stranjah much love 😊😊😊😊
What other AMEN PATTERNS do you want to learn next? 😀
Don’t know but will you one day be doing a feedback review on your fans tracks?
@@ATFsinners1994 Yes!
@@STRANJAH let’s go!
J Majik "Arabian Nights"
Would be amazing if you did a Nebula's "Chords of Sorrow" drum pattern!

lol thanks man fair point!
Absolutely ! Thanks mate ! Couldnt have said it better
Best YT comment I’ve read in years. Truth ❤
One of my fav amen break tunes isn't really even in the jungle/dnb canon, it's Squarepusher's "Port Rhombus", just reminded me of that massive nostalgia trip! :D
yeah Port Rhombus is such a masterpiece. like how to make a break a truly expressive instrument, not to mention the sick jazzy bassline on top!
Squarepusher, in general, is something I strive to sound something like.
Thanks for the recommendation
Amen to that ! ;)
my fav track evah
This guy is the gift that keeps on giving 🙌🏻
This feels like some secret, master-key knowledge that I don't have clearance to have access to.

Amazing to hear that. Glad u appreciate the work. Bigup
Love this! A sound that generated from here in the UK and this guy is embracing it totally! Big up all the junglist !!! 🔥
💯👊
Using the audio like that made for a much better viewing experience
Ive been making Rap Beats for 10 Years, Ive decided to get into Drum & Bass and you've made it so EASY! Great Job, also, you should definitely show us how to recreate the Old School patterns with Midi.
I was at a rave, possibly Helter Skelter, in 95, and remember when Babylon Splash was played. It was rewound about 10 times. Amazing memories
What a great memory to have!
It was produced by Undercover Agent aka Splash. I won't mention his name but the man was a true visionary. Dubplate Circles, Oh Gosh and many more. I remember hearing it on dubplate via Pirate radio and my Jamo's were rumbling - happy memories.

Welcome mate!
this is huge. Jungle producers have to know this piece of audio front to back, inside and out.
strong facts!
Photek would spend a solid month chopping and programming breaks for some of his tracks....and he was the king of chopping breaks in the 90s
im just a standard rock & funk drummer... but ive always had a weak spot for music history so ive loved the amen break. this was so cool to watch. thanks for making this
Just started my first track chopping up the amen a few days ago and was wondering about techniques and this pops up! Thanks
Thank you thank you thank you. Thank you!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Here comes the Drums is sick!!
This video is pure gold for anyone who loves DnB and Jungle. Thanks.

Great video. Should be massively popular. Big ups.

That was just too good. You somehow keep raising the bar on your own videos Stranjah. More Amen choppage please!
the nostalgia in this video is unreal, took me back almost 30 years 🙌🏾
Looping the first 1/4 note splice of the last bar 🔥.. gives this floating feel with the bass drum stomping on the down beat .. always loved that
Gotta say that this vid came spot on, especially Splash Babylon as I have been listening to it on repeat during the past two weeks. Legend that just cant get old no matter what. Big up
the dillinja remix of that baaangs
would love to see a vid on all the old pad styles, also it would be proper cheeky if you did a vid on classic jungle vocals and efx. safe dude.
Can look into it!
Please do! 🙂
yes pads would be nice, preferably serum or ableton stock plugins! :v
yeah that would be sick
evolving nice pads that aren't just filtered saw waves in unison are so hard to make!
Fade to black. Most underrated jungle track. Still my favourite. Needs a remaster
Yes CLASSIC.

Your lessons are awesome. Especially the dance lessons you give at the start of each video.
This is the best breakdown of amen beats I’ve seen. Very impressive. 👏 bookmarked.
Jeeeeezus @STRANJAH this is the biggest piece of drum production secrets hands down. Absolute legend! :D
Thanks for all that you do for your fellow junglists and musicians, you have given back so much !
Such simple but effective way of chopping the break!
You’re an absolute legend. It’s really cool that you love what you do.

This is fantastic. Long time Dnb fan and now wanting to get into producing. I found this really insightful thank you.
This tutorial was Gem, Oxford Cambridge standard!
Would love to see a part 2 of this @stranjah. One of your best videos
When I first listened to jungle in the 90s I thought these producers were like god's of drum programming, when you break it down like this it really shows how simple the music was.
All electronic music is all about the emotions and the effect on the dancefloor.
but back in the days there were only hardware sampler AKAI E-MU, their chop in the hardware. Today is so easy.
I love this. Big up to the jungle massive!
This video really shows the power of Ableton. Great work
Krome and Time where always be favourites of mine, Studio One Lik is a great example of their Amen work
Love this - but listening on my phone so when you say "let's hear it with the bass" and I can still only hear the break ☹️
Get some headphones or a nice sound system and try again.
Bro, you got all the layers of all the onions on this one. Maximum Bo!!!!
