Great help, saved me $$$, thanx! Just performed mine today on my 1991 4x4, mine was 21 which is a bad oxygen sensor, at least it wasn't an eye lash in my transmission!
I wanna thank you for doing this video. I've went to autozone, peps boy and etc. Still they cannot find out what was my check engine. The port cannot connect somehow with their obd. They check the fuse to see what is wrong with my obd1 port. It was all normal. Until I see this clip. Now I find out what is wrong. It reads code 27. O2 sensor sub circuit heater
I don't remember where I got that code list from, they are similar to this in the repair manuals. They are easy to find online if you search on "obd1 toyota code list" and you will find similar lists.
Hey man, that was an excellent video. thx. I actually did the test with a copper wire.. and my check engine light kept and kept flashing continuously with the same paste,, no pause no nothing... would you know what it would mean ?
good informative video, i tried using a copper wire and a paper clip to the e1 and te1 slots, but my CEL wont flash like yours did...any insight perhaps??
hi, i like the way you do it i wonder if i can do it with my 2004 hilux its an Asian tacoma with 3rz-fe engine its efi i can not find how to read ecu with jumper can you help me please .
Greetings, friend, I hope I can help, my toyota 4runner 93 does not want to turn does not turn on the engine light on board and check the coil, module and computer and everything is fine. What can I be? Thank you
Thanks, I have a 1991 Celica GT hatchback. I cant pass emissions because its running rich, and I have good compression, and have replaced almost all the tune-up and emission control parts. I also have no engine light on. Any suggestions?
***** no, it only shows the blink code if the check engine light is on. I've never seen it pull codes that are pending (soft codes), meaning codes that haven't occurred often enough to show a solid check engine light but the computer is still storing as a potential problem. If you try it with no codes, you will just see the code for "no distributor signal"
+Dayum (MJ) what year? Vehicles newer than 95 will do that to indicate a serious issue. But those vehicles also require an obd2 scanner. Is yours obd1 or obd2? (Pre95 or post95?)
Since your truck is newer you won't be able to check it the way I checked mine. You will have to find someone with a diagnostic scanner to plug in under your dash and check the code.
+Sergio Ramses I had this a couple times and my jumper wasn't connected all the way. It should blink. If not then it could be a bad ecu or bad wiring to your diagnostic port.
+Sergio Ramses oh I thought you meant your light was on and you couldn't get it to blink. It is easy to check if you have a blown bulb. When you turn the car on the light will turn on for a brief second and shut off, this is a bulb test.
When i got the car about 3 days after the light when on and about a week later the light went out since then it hasen't been on. And my bad i didn't mention the light wasn't on XD
This is my issue, light is on (two weeks now) and will not blink with jumpers attached. Reset ecu by pulling the fuse, CEL eventually comes back on after warming up.
+Hournine Racecraft what did you do to get a better connection? I've pulled the little write out & tried reconnecting it severaltimes, shoved it in more & still when i turn the key to "on" position the engine light still just stays on without blinking.i triple checked its in the right places, have enough copper exposed, in deep enough, i just dont get why nothings working. so frustrating.
Liked the video but you talk to much dude. Let me simplify the battery terminal segment for you. Simply tighten the clamps on the battery terminals a bit at a time untill it's hard to rotate them. If you over tighten them they will just stretch or break. If you max out the clamps bolt and it can still be turned without a lot of effort replace them... -Edit- Another tip, if you disconnect the battery for ANY REASON (especially if you see any white corrosion begin to develop) clean the connections and grease them with dielectric grease or petroleum jelly liberally.
+efrum sotolongo nice! I loved mine, but I sold it a few years ago. The engine hydrolocked from a head gasket leak. Check out my newer videos, I have an FJ cruiser now. :)
+Diagnostic Repairs Service Centre I know, haha. It bothers me every time I watch that part. I misspoke, I have no idea why I said relay. If you watch my other videos I have some pretty detailed relay videos, so I obviously know the difference :)
Omg he went on on on I'm like stick to wat yur doing he goes off on another subject this easily could have been a 4 min video but all his excessive talkin smh

yeah, that is why I mentioned that in the video and as a little note. Newer cars don't have the obd1 style diagnostic port.
Thank you bradah for making this video now I know what to do next time I have my check engine light on!👍👍👍
Hey, thanks for the link to the code list. Just bought a 2001 Toyota Avalon xls
ground wire was cut on mine. took 2.5 hrs of diagnostics to find that. note to put the harness back together
Ground wire was cut on which part??

Great advice but I have a 2003 4 Runner, guess I need to get the OBD2 failure code from a diagnostic scanner & go from there.
Hey great VID where did you get that cel code printout from I have a 91 pickup that I need the codes for, thanks
good informative video, i tried using a copper wire and a paper clip to the e1 and te1 slots, but my CEL wont flash like yours did...any insight perhaps??
Same problem with mine. My check engine light came on and flashed 5 times and stopped flashing.
hi, i like the way you do it i wonder if i can do it with my 2004 hilux its an Asian tacoma with 3rz-fe engine its efi i can not find how to read ecu with jumper can you help me please .
I have a 1985 Toyota Pickup 22r EFI. It runs 12 minutes then dies. Won’t start until few hours later. Any ideas ?
Hmm, not sure, that sounds tricky
in 2012....you still have a cassette player. What kind of mixtapes you jamming?
The same thing has happened to me before, I didn't have the copper wire connected to the two pins well enough.
Thanks for the info I stopped the video at 5 minutes and Google the codes.
Thank you. I got a 91 Toyota pick up.
Greetings, friend, I hope I can help, my toyota 4runner 93 does not want to turn does not turn on the engine light on board and check the coil, module and computer and everything is fine. What can I be? Thank you
Would this work on an 84 Celica as well?
Yes. You'll probably have to google what terminals to jumper together.
Josie, I got the same problem. When I do it my cel and od lights just keep blinking.
What's it mean when I get a code for fuel too lean....2006 Corolla? Replace ECU? Thanks
Cool video, Some good information.

My light blinks non stop light a hazard flasher. no codes, just non stop flashing. any clues what to do? jumper is in the right spot.Te1 and e1.
do u know what code is mine it blinks 2 1 5
is that dirt on the ports? or is it a material to protect it?
material to protect it. It prevents corrosion
i have the same truck and engine were can i get the codes paper at
+LORENZO_STYLES I have a link to the website in the description
Please do a video on checking and changing the clutch fluid
what if there is no check engine, can you still do this to check for diagnostic
***** no, it only shows the blink code if the check engine light is on. I did jumped them, and turn the key on,it just stays on.
Maybe there's not a good connection at the pins where it's jumped. It should flash
will it work for 1991 toyota corolla 4 door sedan 4afe engine?
+Vic Cudiamat yeah, you just have to find the codes specific for the corolla. Some basic Toyota codes will be the same still
Where can I find the codes
I just put a link in the description for you. I should have a long time ago.
cheers for the help!!
my check engine light just keeps flashing rapidly with no pauses in between. what does that mean?
+Dayum (MJ) what year? Vehicles newer than 95 will do that to indicate a serious issue. But those vehicles also require an obd2 scanner. Is yours obd1 or obd2? (Pre95 or post95?)

If the light dosen't blink at all what would the problem be ?
+Sergio Ramses I had this a couple times and my jumper wasn't connected all the way. It should blink. If not then it could be a bad ecu or bad wiring to your diagnostic port.
That is a good point and another thing it could be just a blown bulb.

Just concentrate on the Toyota, never mind the rest.....hello 🤣
why is my car giving code 14 ? is 92 hilux v6 code 14 is turbo pressure but my car is N/A
+mamii chulah code 14 means no ignition signal to the ecu.
I have a 93 my eng light is on , I will try your trick
what if the check engine light stays in & doesnt flash at all
you might not have a good enough connection at the jumper. That happened with me
+Hournine Racecraft what did you do to get a better connection? I've pulled the little write out & tried reconnecting it severaltimes, shoved it in more & still when i turn the key to "on" position the engine light still just stays on without blinking.i triple checked its in the right places, have enough copper exposed, in deep enough, i just dont get why nothings working. so frustrating.

Thanks for the comment. I have edited my newer videos how to where it seems that I talk less.
hey bro we got the same truck...lol..same color even..dont ever sell it...youll never find anything better..:)
+efrum sotolongo nice! I loved mine, but I sold it a few years ago. The engine hydrolocked from a head gasket leak. Check out my newer videos, I have an FJ cruiser now. :)
it is not a relay but a fues for EFI
