Oh thank goodness they chose the right winner. Though I will say Tom’s 2 week portrait is also a stunner. I think those two young artists got such a fantastic experience.
Tom's style is so unique...and the likeness he has captured in every one of his portraits has been incredible
He deserved the final price. Especially the portrait of the Rasta man was so great !
Love, love, love Laura Linney. Duncan's Laura looks like she's about to burst into tears but she obviously liked it.
Three wonderful artist and...Well done Duncan, you deserve it !!!
Thank you for the spoiler, cuz now it's going to be easier to watch as I am rooting for him 😂😂😂
Awesome portrait! Well deserved! So beautiful painting by Duncan!
Awesome! please continue posting for people

I thought Duncan was the winner, although with these judges, you never know. I like his style. The three commissions were all great. Sarah’s painting of opera singer really was special.
very strong works and very uncommon, it is really hard to justify ., great portraits of all three Artist wow.
The best one won. Congrats Duncan.
Duncan really deals well with the entire composition, successfully integrating background and clothing. His likenesses and expression of model are bang on, even though his style is blocky. Kudos.
I loved Tom’s work and he certainly thinks outside of the box. Sarah just needs more time and experience I believe. As for Duncan- a traditional portrait artist but his painting of Cleo Laine certainly packed a punch. Great programme and hopefully we’ll get to see the next series along with Landscape Artist of the Year.
Tubi and Amazon prime have them! Also Tom's style reminds me a little bit of freud
His work was amazing!!!❤
Great choice!
All three finalists did wonderful portraits, but having seen the two portraits for each at the end, I knew that the winner would be either Duncan or Tom. Their two-week commissions were at another level. Excellent work! I like how Duncan thought he would not make it further than his first round win and ended up being the overall winner. I would also have been equally fine with Tom as the winner. Well done to all three.
Sarah was a surprise contender because I didn't think much of her paintings.
Duncan’s work is amazing. I hope we get to see his Tom Jones portrait!
Duncan has a great sense of colour.
Wow, I love it
Amazing!!!!👋👋👋
This Duncan is a fabulous artist.
Well done. 😊
I had a feeling who the winner was because of the thumbnail 😂
My favorito program!
I feel nervous about the jury's decision one more time. Duncan was very good but obviously the young man is genius and presented more sophisticated work, very strong in feelings and expression, and unusual. He deserved more the final winner place. ☹️
I agree. Tom stands alone in his ability to create modern art 🎨 👌
Yes I’m not a fan of modern art but his last painting was fabulous
I wonder if the judges pick artists for advancements based on the subject they will have to paint at the end?
That was a hard decision - all three were excellent although Sarah painting didn’t get her left eye right.
The three commissions they did, were all three absolutely spectacular!
I would have liked to of seen a brief glimpse of the Commission of Tom Jones.
That Tom Jones episode is on TH-cam now. Enjoy!
I bet my mate in the beginning of the show that the winner would be Duncan. Mostly because the judges are guttless. But also his age. He's a great painter.
Great competition .
All 3 deserved an other challenge 😂
Normally we see them reveal their portraits to the commissioners, but not his time, Maybe dame Cleo Laine didn’t like hers, she seemed to be hard to please 😅
❤
Im glad i didnt have to choose
Sarah needs more experience.
The opera diva was really off putting, disrespectful of another artist, smudging his sketch. I’m really glad he won! He is phenomenal!
The boy Tom is very good. I hope he’ll give up this fractionated type of painting though.
I like his painting. The fractionated double portrait is very interesting and he paints beautifully ! He is a remarkable young painter who deserves at least to be encouraged.
I think the young girl 's painting is better, because she cought the model 's smile.
Sarah shouldn’t be a finalist. Her work is quite underwhelming.
She certainly has potential but painting Tom jones she would be completely over her head.
Oh no!!!!
I really dislike Duncan's work. I find it crude and grotesque. To put him through to the semi-finals seemed inappropriate. I couldn't believe he was selected as a finalist, especially given the quality of the works produced by artists who were not advanced. To nominate him as portrait artist of the year is insane.
Both Tom and Sarah have way more talent. I especially love Tom's use of multiple views. He's able to produce two or more high quality portraits with a cohesive narrative theme in the allotted time when other artists struggle with a single image of their sitter. I love Sarah's ability to capture the quiet quality of the sitters while getting a good likeness. Either Tom or Sarah would have been a much better selection than Duncan.
What's crude and grotesque about his work?
