Note: I really love the short bit of artist to artist with Ty in his studio. Oh Id love to hear him speak more. I use these episodes of Portrait artist as my tutorials. I love this show.
Love this show. Took me awhile to get into Landscape but now I love that too. All the artists so impressive this season. Tom Jones deserves the spotlight in Cardiff. Both talented men.
It's magical, isn't it, to see the evolution of this portait painting. I enjoyed both their approaches, dedication, and teamwork to this endeavor. It has resulted in a brilliant painting by Duncan, which captures Tom's character to perfection. Well done!

The portrait strikes me as restorative, in that the artist seems to have recovered the face the sitter might have had if there hadn't been any cosmetic alteration - parts of his face don't move naturally, but in the portrait they do. Shades of Dorian Grey ...

P.S. I am 65, and I remember as a child in Finland listening to Tom Jones singing on my sister's massive tape player. The reels were enormous, and one would have to get the tape started by hand onto the empty one on the opposite side of the player... Those were the days.
It draws you in. You just have to get closer. Then just stare
Tom Jones recorded a version of "Burning Down the House" with Swedish pop band the Cardigans in the late 90s. It's fabulous! Check it out. Best comeback ever and a completely different sound.

He's been dropping audience panties since the 60s. They throw them onto the stage. He doesn't need to creep anywhere.
There's a whole world outside that has got a different opinion than yours.
