Emil Nikola was very deserving. Abstract and caricature seldom triumph over the fundamental classic teaching that Emil demonstrated. Love this series.😊😊😊😊
I thought these were the BEST collection, the highest quality of paintings in one group! I did not envy the judges having to make a decision. Nor the sitters. I was really impressed with this lot of Artists.
@@AFAskygoddess Wow! It's so interesting how different our perceptions are. But then, I've been shocked by their (the judges) saying (in other shows) that the quality was high when I didn't think much of any of them. I wish I could stand next to each one with you and hear what you see with each. (Popped over to see what you're interested in. I LOVE the George Carlin).
I've watched so many episodes, but truly think this is the most outstanding group of artists. Choosing one out this group had to be difficult, but I do agree with the final choice!
I think Mondriaan was not about pattern. :) More about the meaning of red, yellow, blue and black, white, grey. The spaces created and rithm, inbetween other even deeper meanings. But possibly they mean his earlier drawings and aqwarells. Very tender works. A system of relations between forms, colors, spaces.
So interesting to see the different versions of the same person. I think the judges’ jargon a bit high-flown sometimes, so it might be refreshing to simply ask some of the public what they think about the pictures.
I swear I thought the same thing. Just commented it before reading this. I just don’t understand how it can be seriously considered top3. I feel like the judges want weird. That’s all fine and good but… I just do not understand these judges 75% of the time honestly
Fascinating how with such a beautiful sitter like Sophie Ellis-Bextor, not one artist actually made a traditionally beautiful interpretation of her....many people say it's harder to paint beautiful people, and this would seem to be evidence of that.
I think 3 people is too small a sample to take that as evidence. When people fail to capture the likeness of 'beautiful people' people conclude, "must be harder", but plenty of 'less/not beautiful people' (whatever that means) got painted with poor likeness as well across the series. So I think it's mostly a fallacious reasoning that fulfills its own prophecy by only taking into account the incidences that seem to support the conclusion.
I wouldn't have rated any of them much, but the best won. Those 2 others were ridiculous. I might be old fashioned, but if I am looking at a portrait I like it to look like the sitter? Only about 2 of these did. and the final 2 runners up could have been anybody, or totally made up. When I look at 'Girl with a pearl earring 'for example, I feel that if she was walking towards me, in a crowd, in modern dress, I would recognise her. Can you say that about those 2 bad cartoons? The male one, especially, was hideous. The judges just like to prove how 'Cool' they are,
@@Watkinsstudio He is also suspected of using a camera obscura. You seem pretty good at obscuring things yourself. The point is not how long it takes, but whether it meets the criteria - ie. Looks like the sitter. By the way, your comment is very derogatory to the artists, in that you appear to be making excuses for their poor work! Surely if it is so Exemplary there should be no excuses?
I can’t understand making a sitter look DECADES OLDER than they actually look. One of them has her looking 70 years old. She DOES NOT have huge bags under her eyes as one artist painted her. I like the blonde girls painting of her but the ear seems really big compared to the head. I think the woman from Cincinnati did a great job
How can the artists focus when they are interrupted by interviewer? So disrespectful. This isn’t Hells Kitchen. And it takes precious time away from painting. Gorgeous paintings in spite of it all.
@@cindynihart4788yes but speaking to them in the last 5 minutes? They should allow them to finish in peace. I can understand checking in half way thru but not constantly talking to them
WHAT is wrong w these judges? Salvatore’s was by far my least favorite. It reminds me of Homer Simpson. Really. Emile was the best of the three they chose.
Emil Nikola might be from Albania but with that name he is a Serb. We should all remember this, because politicians really messed up that region with their interference during the 1990 war.
Appalled at the lampooning aof a Chinese accent. Really not cool at all. I love this show and there is no need for cheap laughs at an artists expence. These people are really putting themselves on the line.

I thought most were rubbish.

WOW! Awesome group of artists 😊 I love this and the landscape artist series! Thank you for this..More please...
The best one won this time!
Yes. Pleasantly surprised.
A rarity on this show.
Oh my! Such a fun video ‼️👏‼️👏‼️👏‼️. Even the music you chose when Anna was scraping the ceiling made me chuckle.

For sure. The other 'two of three' offered fabuous originality well in excess on the winner. Yet - class is class.
Fabulous show. Thank you for posting!!!
Thank you so much for sharing, it never ceases to amaze me how different the outcomes are and all the different techniques.

Salvatore’s painting looks like Mr.Burns from the Simpsons
It was awful so scarey looking

Emile very well done.

Vermeer painted a long time on the girl with the pearl earring, not just 4 hrs with interruptions and not situated at a distance from the sitter.
Yes you are old fashioned, lol, but thats ok.

When is the next episode of this season coming?
Ty😊
You must be kidding! The first two selected are quite weak in my estimation.
At 36 minuters, 35 seconds. I can see Preston Nichols. 🤣😄😃😀🙃🙂😊
You should include Kiefer to paint a portrait it would be revelatory.
And where was Mondriaan?
Then i look up the artists I like on Instagram 👌

The girl sitter was beautiful but they made her look ugly ,

I think they should know what they are getting into when they apply to compete...?

The background of Sophie is not in relation with Mondrian! Sorry, maybe I don’t know this pattern-painting of him?!
Yes that’s right. It represents Russian Constructivism, as they said.

they had so many fantastic portraits to choose from and they picked cartoonish ones? Very disappointed

i say it again this presenter is often very rude to the artists, he is not funny and i can`t stand him
Doesn’t art take time?why apologize
In today's art world, you have to pander to the judge's preferences in a competition, not the most accomplished work you can produce.
Ah, sorry- some russian constructivist!😂
to my mind anybody can paint a portrait (good or bad), however to paint a good portrait of the sitter is something different.
