also how is this game not on PC? i think rockstar would make tons as long as they do it in-house 🤔
The game is an entire mess of code so it'd be hard to port it. That's why they didn't do it originally. But they could accomplish it in-house but i don't think they would find the effort worthwhile.
the game is fully playable on PC via emulation now, with performance on par with console on even lower tier PC's.
mid and higher tier PC's even get 60 fps.
technically it's absolutely available on PC now just not as an official port. It's easier to install than Rockstar launcher too.

When I was younger this game gave me a overwhelming sense of anxiety because of how spooky it was compared to the base game

It fits the “nightmare” theme. Generally in your most bizarre of dreams you probably were just as casual in them despite seeing or doing something that in real life you’d react differently to. John throughout his whole “dream” just lets people get eaten and shrugs it off like “well that was weird” but it makes sense considering this DLC has no place in the timeline of the actual game so it can only be a dream John had

The fact that during the entire thing it is heavily implied that everything is in a dream, but that ends up not being the case makes the twist at the end so much more insane

Undead Nightmare is awesome. The lonely/haunted aesthetic of a zombie western game is so unique. It’s one of its’ only few kind. Plus the range of infected animals and world building for a world gone mad makes UN one of my all time favorite properties.

I feel blue balled for undead nightmare 2, as in rdr2 you come across a lot of towns seemingly abandoned because of a strange plague. would've been the perfect set up in-universe.

Always thought RDR 2 Undead Nightmare would have been even more epic and far gorier with current console hardware. One can still dream of what could still hopefully one day be.

I wanted to blow the zombies limbs off and watch them crawl but nope, rockstar just cant make good things.
When I was young I only played Undead Nightmare, I never played Redemption 1! So when Red Dead 2 came out, I was sad to see that they didn't do a remake or a new UN..:(
I like how John could have hogtied Uncle too but instead he just blows his head off.
I imagine he's like "poor bastard, had to put him down" and his family would be like "why didn't you hogtie him like us?" and he just cuts them off repeating "he just had to die", which occurs every time they ask him about it
I think John still wasn't sure if he was himself. Might have thought uncle just gone crazy, nothing to cure. But he watched Abigail and Jack turn.
To be fair Uncle was taking a good chunk out of Abigail's neck at the moment too.

When John returns as a zombie it is basically purgatory for him, that's the theory. And it is non canon because some characters are around when they should be dead, such Nastas who is a zombie but no one questions why he's around even though he was shot point blank.
@@Mogeko_Ranger something I noticed is that Marshall from Armadillo and Landon ricketts say they must be in a nightmare in the main game once you play as Jack it's confirmed that they both died shortly after John.
The online wave mode for undead nightmare was stupidly fun. I spent way more time on that than any other rockstar online mode. Brings back good memories. Thanks for this upload!

The online servers were up last i played, it was just the overrun mode no one played.
The best DLC ever created. This was such a good addition to the game. Really wish they would make a pc port for this game.
It actually released as a standalone physical release too so you didn't need to have the original game to play it

Im glad you finally played this. One thing to point out is that most, not all, of the graveyard bosses were people that you did Stranger and Freaks missions for in the base game.
The way their voices were modulated certainly made them sound very offputting,

Funny enough you can also find alma's ghost in another graveyard (that isn't one you have to cleanse) and she has a side quest where she wants you to find her husband who is also dead but when you go back when the quest tells you to she's gone. Completely forgot you could fight her corpse tbh
My favorite thing that comes from Undead Nightmare is the Survival Multiplayer Mode. It's one of my most played activities and I can't stop thinking about it to this day.

I think the reason johns so casual about this is that zombies weren't common back then (or at least not how we know them). Obviously this is for comedy but if youre wanting a lore friendly explanation theres the best one i can think of.

Rdr2 is setup sooo perfectly for this, the ambience and the weather effects TOO PERFECT
Played both the first rdr and undead nightmare a couple months back and absolutely fell in love with the aesthetics of un. Just the supernatural creatures and the fact that it felt like John was having way more fun during it was enough… I played the game of the year version though… the version of un that’s notorious for being so beyond bugged it’s not funny.
John Marston as a zombie is on the cover and is still one of the coolest video game cover art to date.
Also, when you said is this Uncle Mordecai? I was laughing because the named Undead always appear at the end of a graveyard cleansing.

This dlc is very memorable and generally fantastic
This DLC literally taught me my that hitting the “Fire” button when up-close to an enemy performs an “instant-kill” on enemies, something I didn’t even know you could do in the main game until playing this😅 One of the greatest DLC packs ever made, for one of the greatest games ever made 🙂

Went to ComiCon a few years ago and met the voice actor of John Marston, my god hes one of the most down to earth humble and sweet people youll ever meet. I got a signed picture, he wrote "you eat babys." Ill forever keep it

This DLC is awesome. It still holds up well today, been playing it again recently. Makes me happy to see other people playing one of my favourite games 🤙

Thats zombie is a Lady you meet in a Stranger Mission in the normal game! All those "cutscenes" of a zombie poping up and then talking is characters that cannonicaly died in the normal game. Its a fun little touch.

I fully played through undead nightmare’s campaign *first*, and hearing Miss Horlick’s rambling in the main game my mouth drop. Since then, every time I hear her zombie it *still* puts me on the edge of my seat.
This was Amazing and still is. Just a shame we didn’t get Undead Nightmare 2.

its honestly the best standalone DLC ever made to date, i reckon. i 100%'d RDR1 three times over and then the undead nightmare dlc three times over also. one of my favourite games ever made
I played this game so much as a kid. Didn't even know it came out till a week later and was blown away when I found out about it because I grew up loving GTA. I was 12 when it came out.
This dlc scared me so much as a kid. The zombie noises and empty and wide area of the map was terrifying tbh

I stayed home from school to play this game when it came out! I remember beating it in one sitting. The one thing that blew me away was how the zombies changed right before your eyes in real time.

The Road to Escalera bit was unforgettable to me, Bad Voodoo is one of my favorites songs to this day and the atmosphere and stakes are really high for a dlc, i love it

I remember my dad coming home with a bunch of ps3 games and he came home with undead nightmare and then I remember trying this game out I played it for 2 hours and never touched it again I missed out

“mod“ back when it came out … it felt AAA and top-tier.
i still remember spending 20$ on rdr undead nightmare by itself and for some reason being able to access red dead the normal game through it even though i didn’t pay. it’s been forever so idk if they just offered a demo mode or something but i had played through a little bit of the beginning of the story and found it crazy i could access it for free. never got around to finishing it as a kid tho.
If only they made undead nightmare 2. That one mission in the swamp when you are getting the boat felt like it would be in a zombie game.

This is the game that made 12 year old me conquer my fear of zombies. There was just something about it that made me want more, even though I was actually terrified of any enemies I encountered for the first little while of playing. I'd hide on roofs and just take potshots, then I got real good at popping off headshots. Eventually I was running up and executing zambo's left and right. Ever since I've been a total zombie head.
This dlc changed my Childhood. I love every bit of this dlc

This game was hard ! The scarce ammo plus the mandatory head shots to get rid of them really did put you under some pressure. Rockstar did an awesome job off this game. I loved it so much. They surely should have made an other one for the prequel.
It's such a shame and a missed opportunity for rockstar that they didn't made an undead nightmare dlc for rdr2.. undead nightmare is such a unique game.. it has a special place in gaming history because there is simply no other game quite like undead nightmare.. this is what a perfect dlc looks like
You gotta play far enough to unlock the 4 horses of the apocalypse, kill the chupacabra, and tame the unicorn.

@Dubious GM Okay, and that's you. That's okay for you to do personally, I not so fondly remember the days of Mass Effect 1 and NEEDING a guide for the damn resource locations on planets lmao.
But when it comes to someone else playing the game for the first time, you don't know how they play or explore things. So it's better not to spoil them of potential things that would make them have fond memories of the experience. For some, it isn't an enjoyment if you don't experience it yourself.

I played this game in 2012, yet I still remember all the steps It was a masterpiece.
Still to this day the best piece of DLC for any game ever. I would have loved it if they did something similar with RDR2, although I guess with the sheer scope of the game it would have been a hell of a lot of work

I recently started playing Undead Nightmare again with the wife and she's never experienced it. I used to play it back in the day but it had the old headless broken save bug.

One of the few dlcs I’ve ever played that felt actually like another game. Undead nightmare shoulda got it’s own thing. I remember my favorite part riding over a big hill to look down and see a horse on fire running around in the field! 😅
Funny thing is, they made a separate disc just for the Undead Nightmare DLC. How do I know? I have one.

There is technically a separate disk for the game.I don't really recommend playing Undead Nightmare on the GoTY standalone disk. A recent update that was made around 2016 has rendered the game pretty much unplayable. Due to a gamebreaking bug that makes it impossible to play the game. Unkillable undead, unwinnable overruns, inability to clear cities and graveyards and the base game meshing with the dlc resulting in the undead becoming civilian npcs and spawning headless undead that can't be killed.
I remember spending countless hours playing this game on xbox360. Good times! Also, I'm pretty sure you have deadeye from the start. You should use it more often

I was very dumb when I was 8 I won rd1 Undead Nightmare, played until the graveyard mission and stopped, I didn't know the franchise at that time
From what I remember, if you kill your horse multiple times it will comeback as an undead horse !
As much as I love this game, the controls and handling were really... something. And this is one of the good ones, I don't know how I managed during that generation of games.
It’s really weird playing these older games and not realizing how bad/janky the controls were compared to now
I played RDR on my PS3 for the first time 3 years ago after completing RDR2 a few times. I noticed this the most about it and it made it difficult to get through. It took me over a month of playing a little and coming back to it a few days later to finish the game rather than immersing myself because the controls were so bad. I only played the first 20 minutes of Undead Nightmare but might give it another try after watching this.

@@AUSDANGERlol you are really exagging a lot. Its the exact same controls as every other rockstar game, just less smooth thats all. But John controls less Tanky than arthur does and way quicker
@@AbuHajarAlBugatti I was meaning more the mechanics of embarking/disembarking the horse, the menu system, shooting, tracking missions, etc. Just felt far less refined. For me It's noticeably a game from a couple of generations ago. I wasn't over exaggerating lol

This is still my favorite zombie game of all time. And the fact that you were already familiar with the world before it was infested with zombies, seeing everything in ruin, it was awesome
I love this DLC.
I would fight zombies all day long, but sadly i have terminal lumbago 🤷
God was the gunplay so good in RDR1. That first shot on uncle still hits the same way
I remember buying the DLC, but something happened with my save that made it corrupted, and I never ended up actually playing.
undead nightmare was DLC done right, like full game add-on with a completely different story line to deal with in a reimagined reality, my favorite part was probably tracking down the 4 horses of the apocalypse :p
The undead was so much fun! It’s sad they didn’t make a second one for rdr2, the graphics and mechanics would’ve been crazy
