Lucas Tucker And to think Neil Flynn was almost Dr. Cox. Can you imagine what "Dr. Jan Itor" woulda been like calling JD Newbie? xD But things did work out for Neil in the end.
I think after playing the same role for nearly 10 years, actors kind off become their characters. It's just like the actor from House MD, who actually developed a psychological limp in real life after playing his role as Gregory House for so long.
What a guy. Anybody who remember the Scrubs episode where he can't save some guy before the episode when he goes into a depression will know how much of a good actor he is.
when i watched scrubs at age 12 y/o, i thought Dr.Cox is a bad person. Now that I rewatched Scrubs, I changed my mind. Dr. Cox is a good guy. Funny how maturity changes you.
nur hafizah JD and Elliot used to be my favourites when I was in my teens. Now? Dr. Turk and Dr. Cox. They really develop a lot more during the series.
I think he plays the character of Dr. Perry Cox perfectly. He does a phenomenal job of portraying the character of as he put it, the badass with the heart of gold. John C. McGinley is just a great actor playing a great part. I absolutely love this show. I'm a bit late on it and I'm doing my best to catch up. I stumbled upon the first season DVD set a few years ago and fell in love with the show and all its gags, jokes and loveable characters. Just a great actor. Love him in this role.
I haven't had the chance to meet him properly but I've been in very close proximity to him twice. I work as an Emt in a famous club in Dublin and have heard him talk to people a couple of times and can whole heartedly say that he is a gentlemen and a half! A very nice and thankful guy, and seems so genuine. Really warms my heart to see famous people turn out to be lovely people, and that's exactly how I'd describe him!
Man you can see the Cox influence in his real character. The arrogant humiliation master syndrome takes over at certain points it's like he can't hold it back! lol fucking A i love and admire his role
Miss Scrubs. One of my favourite sitcoms. Some sitcoms are funny maybe the first two seasons then it gets old and boring, but this show made me laugh for 8 seasons, season 9 wasn't as funny but I could watch it. Love Dr Cox, JD and the janitor. I can't imagine anyone else playing Dr Cox. He played it very well.
+Laywa Wood it is naive to claim that Scrubs is perfect, but for some reason when I watch Scrubs, everything critical disappears. I just enjoy every minute.
He made such a good job...He shined even surrounded by other people doing a fantastic job. But Cox won them all. Really got into my heart a lot of times, and that ´s a very difficult achievement... Bow to you, Mr. John.
I think that some people might think that he's really full of himself, that he's really only out there for himself, but i think it's just his honesty and bluntness, which i love.
Cut from the same cloth as James Woods..brilliant at playing smart, cynical ( and yes, sometimes slimy) characters...great actor , needs to be used more in films ( remember how great he was in Platoon/Wall Street amongst others)
I always love it when the actors have the same personalty as the character they play for shows! In lost, Sawyer was one of my fav. chas. In real he such a different person 🙈
Bill Lawrence created Scrubs. And the actors perfected it. Sarah's terrible singing, Neil Flynne's making up his own lines, John's suggestion with the "teaspoon of dirt and sugar" thing, Donald's singing and dancing, that memorable episode(My Way Home) Zach directed and his goofy nature, Judy using the Spanish language, and...Robert Maschio being The Todd.
The episodes in which cox shows his heart of gold (touching moments with jd or when his patients die.) are some of the most memorable episodes from the show.
Jonny C is so much NOT Dr Cox, it shows how much of a good actor he is. This interview is on one of the extras of a Scrubs DvD and when Sarah and Christa come in and more or less "Crash" John's interview he almost seems bashful. LOVE SCRUBS TY for this upload.
10 years ago this was uploaded, 10. I'm starting to get this odd feeling... you realize that in another 20 years, people will be finding randomly uoade TH-cam video from 20 years before? our grqt grand kids will be digging through TH-cam and finding clips from 50 years before they were born. I remember catching glimpses of this show... But I started watching it from the beginning on Netflix.. His character has so much depth... Love it... And yes Black ppl watch Scrubs too! Lol
I met him, took pctures with him and got an autograph, im the biggest scrubs fanatic you can find and it was the scariest and greatest moment of my life
I actually met him today as well.....he was Speaking in Trinity....absolutely lovely guy, I mean, he's as down to earth as anyone I've ever met, and I mean, if you ask him a question, he always has such interesting detailed responses....Anywho, I recorded it on my N95, so, I should have his speech up sometime in the next two days.....
nobody could have played Dr.Cox like him
Lucas Tucker And to think Neil Flynn was almost Dr. Cox. Can you imagine what "Dr. Jan Itor" woulda been like calling JD Newbie? xD But things did work out for Neil in the end.
Lucas Tucker maybe that guy who plays House?
Only and only if Hugh Laurie acted with his normal British voice and not as Dr. House. I know people love House, but I like Hugh Laurie as an actor.
+FirestoneX Iwonder who will win in an arguement
House or Cox
+codename617 bahaha I could see the janitor being Dr Cox!! Like literally the only other person who could have pulled it off
"I like to be in waiting rooms with people as they're auditioning, because their terror calms me." damn he's Dr Cox in real life too
Eve lyn hahaha I had the same thought when hearing him say that.
The smile as he says "I'm getting this gig" is Dr. Cox for sure
@@barringtonfisher87 omg true
... So that was Bill Lawrence's right choice. I love this series.
@@barringtonfisher87 Then Kevin Kasey walks in.. ouch.
Dr. Cox played John C McGinley well
3 years later I was your 333rd like
Exactly!!! All I see is Dr. Cox!!!!!!!!
well spotted
Very we'll
He's genuinely so much like his character; alot of the cast were, that's why it was such an amazing show.
That's the purpose and skill of a good casting director: finding an actor whose personality is close to the character to be played.
Hooch really IS crazy!
I think after playing the same role for nearly 10 years, actors kind off become their characters. It's just like the actor from House MD, who actually developed a psychological limp in real life after playing his role as Gregory House for so long.
he's way more calm irl and less of a character, but yea he seems smart like his character tbh
there is one more possibility hes not coming out of his role just because scrubs are grenius
I am in love with this guy ever since watching the first episode. He is one of the most underrated actors in world history.
+Lightningsoul oh yeah. it is odd we don`t see more of him.
Jelena Stojanovic I think he is too shy. :(
He is amazing in Dean Koontz's Intensity.
he's stan...stan against evil....YOu can sorta sense the 'cox' in his character
Loved his character in “Platoon!!!!!!!”
its a shame that this man never won an emmy. srsly. one of the best actors ever in a tv show
"Hard-ass with a heart of gold."
Perfect way to describe Dr. Cox.
John is a brilliant actor.
Brilliant.
How did TH-cam know that I was rewatching scrubs....?
dont know but YT now made me rewatch for sure xD
Same here
Me too
There's a rewatch podcast so I'd say a lot of people are bumping it up the algorithm right now too
@N N R U amen the 1% control everything never let the 99% experience real life

Sounds EXACTLY like something Cox would say.

3 patients die on him actually. The episode is called My Lunch.
They got rabies when Jill Tracy died and they donated her infected organs.
Season 5 episode I can't remember what one though

John C. McGinley was the exact person to play Dr. Cox. No one could have played him better.

Best character in TV history
An amazing actor. I'm surprised to find he's so much like his character in real life. That's probably what makes scrubs so special. Big fan.
This guy has so much skill in Scrubs. Just the way he does his peices... Breathtaking... I just wish he would be featured in more films/shows.
15 year old comment lol
And thus the best character of Scrubs was made
"Judy's a beautiful , beautiful latin woman"
He has a crush on her even in real life....
Why Bee McNoMistake who wouldn’t 😍

TheTrohl Same here. I have seen him in many other toles before he was on Scrubs. But, he owned his part so well.
His character was one of my favorites on tv, he played it to perfection.
the need to revive the series with all actors coming together again, but with like 10 years passed.
Yeah cox's character wouldn't be as interesting if John hadn't playn him and also as he said, the good side of cox didn't leak in from time to time.
Neil Flynn (Janitor) actually auditioned for Cox first! I wonder how it would have been… I love them both but I think the result was the best way.
magnuswilen He would have been a terrible Cox.
You never know. Maybe Neil would've adapted to the roll of Co. It would definitely be different from John's dr cox though
Hey Aladin

The fact that he is like Dr. Cox in real life just makes me love him more! "Their terror calms me" 😂
McGinley is one of a kind and was perfect for his role on Scrubs. He played a similar character in the movie Article 99. I hope we see more of him!
the fact that johnny calls zach braff ‘zachy’ on the podcast makes me so happy
