I think I believe most of Gene's stories. They may be exaggerated some for the book or telling friends but Gene and Elvis were not only cousins but best friends. There are things we will do with our best friend that we wouldn't do with anyone else. Thank you Spa Guy. The Knickerbocker has alot of very interesting history. Looking forward to learning more about it. ❤

Billy these Knickerbocker videos were a tremendous effort and I appreciate it. Apologies if I missed it, but I would be a grateful viewer if you could do one more vlog on the hotel...identifying Elvis's suite window from the street. I would love to be able to identify where his suite was when I'm standing outside. Bless you my friend. You are a wonderful person doing great things. Merry Christmas. And Pete if by chance you read this, thank you very much for your hospitality with Billy & Trey.

"Before the Colonel called nine one one." Billy, you made me chuckle outloud! There was no 911 in 1960. I always think about words we use today that Elvis would not know what we mean. Isuzu, fax machine, email, CDs, so so many words we could use and Elvis would have no clue what we mean. Joe Esposito used 911 in describing what he did that day in Memphis. But there was no 911 August 1977 in Memphis either. Just saying. Tighten up!!! We love your stuff!

Billy, I found your channel a year ago this week. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the entertainment and joy it's brought me. If you are ever in the Cincinnati area (great story about Elvis leaving hotel on last tour due to lack of AC waiting for ya) I'll buy you dinner!

I heard this ac story in video from the late Joe Guercio. Mr. Guercio said Elvis walked across street to another hotel without attention during middle of the day. Thank you for documenting Elvis' lodging during his first film. Prior to this Elvis stayed at the Warwick Hotel in midtown NY during his first TV Appearances from Dorsey Brothers through Ed Sullivan - printed in 1956 Wertheimer book/video. Not sure where he stayed during loving you and jailhouse rock in LA. During King Creole in Louisiana. After army he bought home in CA, so at some point no more need for lodging. This is constant education of interest to all Elvis followers. Thanks again for filling in these unlimited blanks. Did cousin Gene say Elvis wore his shoes in his book?

Sounds good Chuck.. I know the story and that is not really the reason he switched hotels although it has always been said to be the reason.. email me billy@thesgnetwork.com

Gene didn't say Elvis wore his shoes that came form an insider.. Elvis stayed at the Beverly Wilshire for some of the early stuff..

This is a great sequel to the other Knickerbocker video's of yours. I can totally see Elvis pulling these pranks. He was asked to leave another hotel when he, Joe Esposito and (can't remember the other guy) were fighting in a hallway and a guitar went flying down the hall. Although his co-stars did think Elvis was great to work with, I think it was something he had to prove to himself. Everyone who saw the end of Love Me Tender were crushed at Elvis death scene which is why he had to go back and do the ending song "from heaven" to soften the blow to the audience. Great job Billy and Trey, looking forward to more Elvis History videos.

Elvis, from what we have learned, was a trickster, but I'm sure things have been over exaggerated over the years too. You know, the story gets bigger and bigger and memories get foggier and foggier. I can imagine the panic over Elvis being "shot" in the hotel would have created. lol I'm sure the Colonel wasn't a happy camper. I didn't know about Irene though, how sad. It always breaks my heart when someone feels so desperate to commit suicide. Thanks for this video Billy. Those heights sure get my belly! lol

I completely agree that the 'ledge jumping' would seem a bit unlikely for Elvis, especially with the 'notoriety' he had gained with the Milton Berle show just around 2 months before. This would certainly have Elvis threatening to jump as top news. There are plenty of contemporary news clippings that have been published in several books but none that mention this. One thing that I think can't be denied is the hotel 'politely' asking Elvis to leave the hotel after one prank too many!! 🤣

Great follow up here Billy, interesting stuff, I totally believe Elvis did these things myself, everything I have read and seen about Elvis was he was a 'real prankster' in private and loved getting a laugh from putting people on, and this sounds exactly in his character to me, especially a young newly famous Elvis who like most any young people don't think anything of "pushing the envelope" because consequences mean nothing at all when your young and full of life and caught up in the moment, and Elvis sure had a lot of those moments didn't he. :-)

Elvis did have that tricky practical joker side sometimes.
His way to have fun or just goof around to get rid of stresses...
Think it's a good quality for a guy who could of decide to be super serious & starchy but he rather wanted to have that kid dish joking side.
Only sometimes his practical jokes got him in hot water sometimes namely kicked out of this building.
The Col. must of really sucked on that cigar & his heart racing he's ring the news !!! Elvis has been shot.
Then realized he was not shot & trying to put water on the fire.
Understand Elvis was allowed to sit in the pilot seat for abit but he pushed the steering forward thus the plane descended. The Captain took over quick & gave Elvis a piece of his mind. Pilot was not amused.
Elvis buddies told Elvis to fire him as he should not talk to you that way.
Elvis said "No" ( he knew he had done wrong. ) remember reading this story somewhere or seeing a vid ???
Guess it 's true. Elvis had that kid side in his personality & think it made him enjoy life more.
Lady jumped to her death. Fashion designer..
The a Word tells us "As a person thinkth so are they"
People have to get their minds off a negative mindset or else it will drag them down ...even to hopeless feelings & possibly suicide.
We all need hope ..the a Word tell us to think on "whatever is just whatever is good whatever is so good report...type of idea.
In spiritual warfare I'm sure the demonic forces would want every person to end their lives or for every country with nukes to launch them today. God is good & the other guy is bad.
    Keep the faith folks.
    1John 3:8
That is the Christmas message right there in that verse.
Merry Christmas to all & Billy Trey & all your loved ones. ( & Pete can't forget him )

That's all very interesting and I see what you mean about the pictures of Elvis !! I love to hear about these stories. Except for the lady , " Irene " that jumped to her death . That's so sad . Spa Guy , last night I watched an interview that Leonardo DiCaprio did and he told the lady that was interviewing him that he was born in a hospital ( which is now the Scientology building that's near Rodeo Drive ) . So from watching your videos about the Knickerbocker and finding out that the Scientology building was right next to the Knickerbocker .... I put two and two together and that told me that the Scientology building was once a hospital . I might be wrong about that , but it made scene to me . I just hope he doesn't believe in Scientology . I have enjoyed all of these videos you have made about the Knickerbocker . Thank you for sharing this Spa Guy . You're the best and God bless !!

    Hello from England
At 7.42 into this video look what Elvis was wearing!! He just wanted to be "DIFFERENT" all the time. When he was asked about who he sang like "i sing like nobody".
How many kids would you see back then wearing the same clothes - nobody.
