This is the first 2.4ghz radio I've brought after a 20 year absence from the hobby, and its brilliant for the price. Its range is excellent and relatively simple to operate and reliable. I used to fly with Sanwa Vanguard 35mhz back in the day.
Some moments were helpful, like the dual rate. But it would not hurt to explain what some terms mean. For example, what does EXP in the dual rates mean? Or which output should be selected and when? For example, there are two connectors on my FS-i6X receiver for connecting to the FC marked PPM and i-Bus. Which combinations should be used for using each of them? Or what is the i-BUS Setup menu for?
Just received my Fly Sky FSi6x and your tutorial video was OUTSTANDING, thanks dude! I love how the manufacturer entirely blows-off even offering a manual, too funny
This had some very valuable information, thank you!! I'm a 56 year old *flying* N00b... but have been in RC Ground for over 35 years... If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. 👌 I've got the FS-T6... all I can afford. It's just for FliteTest Foamies anyway. Are the functions much different from the i6 and i6X?? This Video got me started, and I really appreciate it!! 😎👍👍 One thing not covered was Channel Mixing... Specifically, until I can stay in the Air for longer than a Minute - I'd like to mix about 3-6 Degrees of Up Elevator with my Aileron input. (Automatic Bank & Yank??) Is that even possible? I flew the real ones in the Air Force back in the 90's... I've been told that could actually hinder my learning. But remember, I'm also very experienced in RC Ground and at least have a firm understanding of Control when the Vehicle is coming towards me. Other than that, I've still got a LOT to learn!! 😋😳 I hope someone can help me with Mixing.... Carmine ✈🚂🚙
This was very helpful. My first digital radio and just getting back into it after a 20 yr. layoff. I was not able to access switch A for my dual rates, so I put it on B. I still don't know why A was not available. This is a four channel nitro trainer. How do you set up an idle and kill position on the throttle?
Thanks for this demo.. just trying to learn how to set up switches to do different functions on the aircraft, for example trying to set up switch C to do the three functions of my ZOHD Nano Talon so that 1 might be stability mode, 2 would be stability off and 3 using the the bigaole stability module would be the return to home if the aircraft got out of range on me. Still trying to figure it out. Will read your channels and switches again to see if i can do it. Thanks again. Happy Flying
Super great video. I’ve just built my 1st RC plane and I have a question: how should I setup the Ailerons? I have a servo for each wing for right and left and cannot figure out how to manage that. Thx a lot!
Ahh that explains it..so to dampen the sensitively around the centre of the stick you use positive expo in this case the "up" botton will make the movement less sensitive around the centre and the opposite with down button - minus ..been flying 20 yes but this as always confused me because without flying it you can't tell what is minus and what is positive. .Thanks for that.
Fs i6x is mixing channel 3 throttle with channel 4. 30a esc wont stay programmed running an Amazon 2200kv. Wont go full throttle unless I full rudder and full thottle at same time. I've google but can't find this problem. Thanks! You make some great videos!
Dude you cracked me up when you said if you reverse channel three crazy shits going to happen, I got 30 stitches and 9 staples on my arm when I did just that with a 200srx. Ouch!
Awesome video! Thank you. After seeing your video the first time I decided to give Flysky a try. Been flying Spektrum. The Fs-i6 and x models are fantastic for the price. May try the FS-i8. Incredible technology for around $100.00.
I don’t know what I did but I got my mob7, binded it, and everything seemed fine. It was SWA to arm/disarm which is what I wanted, SWC switched from Acro mode to Horizon mode or auto level mode. I switched some stuff around like turned the VRA and B knobs off, which I later turned back on. And I switched the Aux settings a bit but it wouldn’t fly... what I ended up doing was setting everything back to how it was, then I put the aux channel 1 5 to SWA and then the other one (6) to SWC I believe and what I had to do was turn on Fly mode and set it to SWA arm and disarm and now it works again but I don’t know why it wouldn’t work normal when I set everything back...
Thank you ,i was having problems setting switch to reverse as i am new to rc. i watched other videos none helped, your video you say to save you have to hold cancel button i was just pressing and releasing it,
I need a lay down in a quiet room for a while. Thanks for a very valuable video, but setting up systems with just those buttons and needing to learn the difference between a quick and long press was a pain lol.
Gey great video ! Only question is, how I setup a Gyro ? I have everything wired and working but I can’t get my gyro onto one of the switches to turn on and off , thanks !
I got it i got it !!! lololol from your instructions I figured how to assign channel 6 to the switch plug, so I put it in the receiver 6 position, and yes, it worked but was backwards 3-2-1 .. so I wondered if there was a way to reverse a switch and voila !! there is, and I reversed it and now the third position is return home. Merry Christmas and Happy Flying
Im building a rc mower. If I heard you right you can set two channels to fail safe? I have a servo to close throttle and kill the engine. And a remote relay to cut power to the motor controller.
I wish folk would atop saying, “it’s very very simple” 😁 makes me feel like I’m a total idiot, because it’s NOT simple. Mine doesn’t do ANYTHING that you’ve said it should. You mentioned something about the receiver being in ‘binding mode’ but, how do you get it into that mode?
I hear you! It's definitely NOT! What model receiver are you using? Usually you will either press a button, or insert a little jumper plug, and then connect the battery.
This is a great video but for the term beginner. As a beginner/newbee, I want to know not only the what, but the why. I.e. setting up the switches. Also, you speak faster than I can hit the pause button.
Hi and thanks for the great video. Is there a specific way of setting up the Reflex V2 gyro. It has no gyro, intermediate, and beginner ona 3 way switch. However on a 2 way switch it has intermediate and beginner. I cant seem to figure out how to set it up. I use my 3 way switch for flaps currently. Thanks very much Bob
New subscriber here ….I want to be able to use safe mode on my timber stol and also mixing of the flaps and then control on flap rate. That seems like it should all be possible with this transmitter am I correct? Is expo what mixing is? So I would set expo with the flaps and elevator right? So when I’m in sport mode or normal mode I will be able to use the flaps simultaneously with the elevator?
Hello and thank you s overy much for your awesome video as it helped me setup a few features in my i6X. One question though if you don't mind? Is there a way in which the gimbals can be calibrated. Because if I setup failsafe on my throttle it only goes to 93% and not 100% like in your video. Thanks
I know this is a 5 yr old video but I'll ask anyway. I'm getting into this hobby and since it is a good budget Tx for beginners, does it have gyro settings? In the manual it says it does, but under the "Helicopter Settings" section. Dunno if that works the same for planes... or I would have to get a different receiver than the one that comes in the box?
Hi! It is srill a good radio, as long as you don't plan you use many different brands of receivers. In that case you should look at a Radiomaster. For the gyro, I haven't used one, but I think there are certain receivers that have that option.
Hello Adam, Lou here. I just saw your video. Having a heck of a time setting up this transmitter with a PicaSim flight simulator... are you familiar with it? I do have to say that I did pick up more on your video. I went through the motion mentioned on sim set up but cant get the plane joysticks to function. Any advice to remedy my issue?
Have you done any Flysky firmware updates to your i6X? How did you handle the virus infecting Flysky's firmware image? I haven't been willing to sacrifice any of my PC's to try and work it out.
No. I don't think there have been any significant updates to the i6x firmware. But if you are referring to the antivirus warning that shows up when trying to download the flysky firmware, I don't think there is an actual virus. I've ignored that and downloaded it anyway, and as far as I know my computer is in good health. I think the warning is just a precaution because flysky is not a recognized developer (or something like that).
Hi, my best compliments about video...so I have a question for you I have necessity to invert the channels in "stick mode". Menu offer "mode 4" but i need to invert the position (CH1 with CH3) and (CH4 with CH2) what I can do it?? can I invert the cable inside or what? I hope to explained well. Thanks for your answer! ;-)
Is there a way to make channel 3 and 4 controlled via the switches normally used for aux channels 5-10? I need to make channel 3 controlled via SWA or VRA
I have no clue what any of these transmitting signals do but IDGAF, I'll probably never out grow this transmitter. this thing is sooooooo bad ass though! it works perfect! i was even able to solder on a new switch that i broke on it.
How to make the alieron and elevator mix ? For example when I turn left and right with the alieron I want the elavtor to move up aswell . instead when I turn to one side the elevator goes down and when I turn to the other side it goes up . how to make the elevator stay up when I turn both sides?
I am using the Flysky for a giant scale airplane with a gas motor. I had to reverse channel 3 to get throttle to move in right direction. Can I still use failsafe? Thanx
I need help! I have a Flysky I6X transmitter to control my tracked inspection bot. But when I first switch the transmitter on, it beeps and gives me this message: "!!WARNING!! Place all switches in their up position and lower the throttle" Sometimes I just bump my left toggle switch, channel 3, and it stops the warning and gives me full control. But all too often, it doesn't matter how many switches and toggles I move around, it just keeps beeping and will not give me control. What is it doing and how do I get it to stop? I have a simple tank chassis with a light and camera gimble on it. It's not like I need a safety switch to start with. Can you help me?
Hey man, I subbed to your channel. I just got this radio and this tutorial is awesome! There one thing about my radio. When I try to put power to my throttle, the motor won't budge! Do I have to set anything? Thanks.
Hi I've had a lot of signal losses recently and I was wondering whether I could set the failsafe to elevator up or if that was a good idea with throttle at 25% Thanks for your help
PLEASE HELP 😫 I’ve watched dozens of your videos..watched HOURS of videos for almost a week.. I haven’t found a single one, that shows if you can set the endpoints for channels 7-10.. Everyone shows the aux page, and how you can set 5-10 to any switch/variable knob.. but I haven’t found a single video that shows if you can adjust the endpoints across all channels. I just can’t make myself buy another radio, until I know if I can do this. Please help! (P.s. your channel is incredibly informative, and entertaining, btw! 👏🏼)
Hi Adam! Need some help! Got a quad with fly sky FS A8S receiver and the radio FS-i6x. There is an issue when I hit full throttle on my quad.. it says rx loss for abt 1sec and after it gets normal.. but it's not very safe to fly like that.. maybe u got any idea what could it be? Receiver issue, radio or even some kinda vibrations on high throttle? 🤷♂️
Hi, Adam - I'm trying to set twin motors up, but the display is showing 66% on one side, and 100%on the other - how do I reset to 100 % for both, please?
Hi, I love my FS-i6X I have a problem with flying with Nitro power... MY problem is the main Throttle trim on the front of the transmitter For some reason will not move a SERVO ( try it yourself) I think it has something to do with speed controllers verses a SERVO hooked into channel 3 .... All the other trims will move servos just fine but NOT channel 3 there is no info in the user guide... and I have a different FLYSKY transmitter too (FS-ST8) which the same problem exists... Any ideas for me... Robbie
Thank you for this video. I have the Fs-16X transmitter. I have the fly mode set to switch three which is the only three position switch on my radio. However, I only get : normal and sport why is that?
how is the smoothness of stick resolution in comparison with i6 ? I use i6 and the servo moves not smoothly, (compare with devo 7 or other Futaba, Jr... transmitters). Thanks!
I am a mentor for a high school robotics club in Southern California and we are building a drone that will eventually have a robotic grabbing arm attached to it and we are have a weird issue that I was hoping you could help me with. Our transmitter throttle seems to be working properly when we are connected to Clean Flight software, it that the software displays the proper levels if we throttle up or down. The problem is that once we are solely connected to the drone, with no software, the throttle does not seem to be controlling the motors properly. With the throttle joystick in the down position, the motors just keep running. We think it has something to do with how the transmitter processes the output settings, but we cannot figure it out. We have tried everything, but now we are stuck...we cannot figure it out. We are using the Flysky FS-i6X. I know this is a big ask, but is there any chance that you would be willing to zoom call with us one night to see if you could provide your expertise into what we are doing wrong? We have gone through all of the TH-cam vids we could and can find nothing on this issue. We need help. thanks, Jim
Hi, Jim! Yes. Sounds like a cool project. Email me at Adam@RCwithAdam.com (my new email adress) with details about the drone (flight controller, receiver, etc) and we can try to set up a time to help you. 👍
Hi!. I have some planes for beginners and have a "self stabiliced" function with a Switch (beginner/normal). This function is configurable in this controls or it's a feature in the receiver? I'm searching information about this feature before buy.
Thank you for your tutorial. Problem, hoping you can help with please. When I have channel 1-4 as factory sent, channel 5-10 off and unassigned and all switches in down position, remote starts pleasantly, except I cannot use channels 5-10. Once I assign all channels up to channel 10 their each switch or control, and save with cancel button, then when turning remote on it yells that all switches must be in down position. THEY ARE DOWN! If I go back in and turn off channels 5-10, starts perfectly again. I would like to use additional channels and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. Can you please help?
I notice that you use the up button to add expo yet Andrew Newton on his review of this TX uses the down button which is also marked - minus..so who is right ? Don't want to make the expo sharper Cheers Adam
Hi! I always use positive expo. Negative expo will make the center of the stick more "sensitive" and the outer edges more "mushy." I really don't know why negative expo would be helpful.
@@RCwithAdam1 Just had a look at my FS-i6 and I believe that Andrew is correct and you are mistaken here. On the Dual rate/expo screen the vertical axis of the graph is servo output and the longitudinal axis is stick input. Thus at around stick center you want more stick input to change the level of servo output. This is achieved with negative expo - set by using the down button. We all make mistakes - me more than most! 😉 EDIT. I have just seen below that the FS-i6X may be different from the FS-i6. I'll have to check with our mate's radio.
Hi, Den! 4 channels are used for the stick controls (roll, pitch, throttle, yaw), which leaves only 6 additional channels for the aux channels. So in all, there are ten channels.
@@RCwithAdam1 Thanks, Adam . I have a new problem - my aileron servos on a Yak I flew recently were very slow to operate, causing it to crash. I am now prepping a two engined Lancaster, and, having set up, notice that the servos for the ailerons are doing the same thing. How do I get them back to 'normal' operation ( same tramsmitter and a 'copy' setup used) ?.
Probably been asked before but I want to run this on a traxxas emaxx and was wondering if there's a way to use one of the switches to turn the throttle from driving forward to reverse. Like driving from forward 0 to 100% then flip a switch the drive reverse 0 to 100%.
Hi! I don't think it's possible, but I do need to experiment with rc cars more. What you might do is have the throttle centered so that 50% to 0% is reverse and 50% to 100% is forward (haven't tested that, though).
Thanks for the vid, I am getting into drones, and I just ordered this this transmitter, as it seems to be the best bang for the buck at the price point. It does seem rather odd that to save a setting, you have to hold CANCEL, which seems counterintuitive..?
I think you have to use car/boat transmitter, or you have to set the throttle stick to be at center like car/boat transmitter, use a string to make it at center (like i6s)
Great video! Thanks for that! May I ask a question: the battery voltage number of the receiver (top line) shows about 5.6V, but I use a 3s Lipo, which should have 12V when well charged. How can that be? Reason for asking that I want to set a battery alarm when the Lipo Voltage is low. For the 3s Lipo that should be around 3.2V per cell, hence 9.6V. But this is not consistent with the 5.6V in the display. Any feedback is highly appreciated! Cheers Pete
Hi! That is due to the 5v BEC in the ESC which is used to power the receiver. Since the ESC has internal components to provided constant, regulated voltage to the RX, the TX will always show the same " RX voltage" on the screen. I think this feature is a carryover from the days when having a separate battery for the RX was common.I think Flysky does make a device that connects to the RX and sends the actual flight battery voltage to the TX.
I have a new TGY-i6 that only operates 5 channels. Left/Right stick on one side is inop. Can swap stick mode to shift to the opposite side but still can't get lateral servo motion on one channel. Hobby King sent me a new receiver but the problem still exists. Also, throttle is on right side instead of left side. Any thoughts?

Some moments were helpful, like the dual rate. But it would not hurt to explain what some terms mean. For example, what does EXP in the dual rates mean? Or which output should be selected and when? Or what is the i-BUS Setup menu for?

You can download a manual from their site. It still pretty basic though.

What does dual rates and expo means? How does it affect the airplane?
Hey man, I subbed to your channel. I just got this radio and this tutorial is awesome! There one thing about my radio. When I try to put power to my throttle, the motor won't budge! Do I have to set anything? Thanks.
Hi I've had a lot of signal losses recently and I was wondering whether I could set the failsafe to elevator up or if that was a good idea with throttle at 25%
Thanks for your help
thank you!!!!im 3 day looking for the save button...... its really wierd tha you have to hold cancel.. i was holding the ok button like craizy.
Just the right place, you hit the nail on the head for me.
Please Sir tell me how to increase the PPM signal from 8 to 10 in the FlySky-i6x transmitter?🙏🙏
Do you have video for the setup of external module like crossfire
Buliding a tank from scratch and learning this is the hardest part, lol
PLEASE HELP 😫 I’ve watched dozens of your videos..watched HOURS of videos for almost a week.. I haven’t found a single one, that shows if you can set the endpoints for channels 7-10.. Everyone shows the aux page, and how you can set 5-10 to any switch/variable knob.. but I haven’t found a single video that shows if you can adjust the endpoints across all channels. I just can’t make myself buy another radio, until I know if I can do this. Please help! (P.s. your channel is incredibly informative, and entertaining, btw! 👏🏼)
Hello. What about air brakes or spoilerons? How it have to do? Thanks
Thank You. You've produced briliant movie. By the way, can You recomend information source with clear safety procedure to upgrade firmware of FS-i6X ?
Perfect instructions. Just what I needed. Thanks man :)
Robbie
Can this transmitter do End Point adjustments? Thanks for the Video!!
Sure can!
Thank you for this video. I have the Fs-16X transmitter. I have the fly mode set to switch three which is the only three position switch on my radio. However, I only get : normal and sport why is that?
What are the 2 iner switches for the one to left and the 3 position one
Does the Does the isx support h1-v2 for fw200 helicopter GPS and acrobatics
how is the smoothness of stick resolution in comparison with i6 ?
I use i6 and the servo moves not smoothly, (compare with devo 7 or other Futaba, Jr... transmitters). Thanks!
So is there anything to change on the output screen or just leave it as is?
Adam, does the radio come with 10 channels or do you have to download software or something?
How do you know what receiver set up. Mine came with a 10 channel receiver so is this ppm and s bus ????
Is 4 channel flysky i4x compatible with fpv
very informative.. more than the Chinese manual :)
Glad it was helpful!
Is this transmitter capable for 3D helicopters such as the idle up switch?
Thanks 👍 really helpful 😊
Yea uam new and need all the help o can get I have the echine wizard 220x with the flysky i6 s ready to fly
ppm output is off if i turn on the receiver bind everything work?? or just lets it off?
I notice that you use the up button to add expo yet Andrew Newton on his review of this TX uses the down button which is also marked - minus..so who is right ? Don't want to make the expo sharper
Cheers Adam
EDIT. I have just seen below that the FS-i6X may be different from the FS-i6. I'll have to check with our mate's radio.
Which settings take precedence if, for example, a failsafe setting is set on the transmitter and on a quadcopter (via Betaflight)?
Hi! That's a great question! Honestly, I'm not sure, but I think the Betaflight failsafe takes precedence. I should test this.
Is this able to do thrust reverse for 4d plane
Thank you very much. One thing is puzzling me - the 'display' is only showing six channels, instead of ten? Ten is on the Aux etc. Den, Wales
Hi, Den! 4 channels are used for the stick controls (roll, pitch, throttle, yaw), which leaves only 6 additional channels for the aux channels. So in all, there are ten channels.
The older FS-i6 was only 6 channel, but there was a mod to make it 10 channel. I believe the newer ones came pre-modded with 10 channels already.
It does seem rather odd that to save a setting, you have to hold CANCEL, which seems counterintuitive..?
i'm not seeing the "aux switches" menu. On your controller it was below the factory reset option, mine does not have that. Do you know why?
Hmm, maybe we don't have the same version of firmware. Mine is 1.0 01-Jul-2016.
is this compatible with receivers that have gyro?
Can you help please in regards to setting the no. 3 output to be able to be used for throtal forward and throtal reverse ie for a boat????
So what is the proper setting for a 3s 14.4 2200 mah
Hi, can you help me with one doubt ? The FlySky work with any of these receivers ? ( TBS NANO RX / FrSky R-XSR )?
Hi! No, it will not. it will only work with Flysky brand receivers (specifically, AFHDS2A or AFHDS radio protocol).
I just got that transmitter today it says mode 2 is left hand throttle if that helps. a bad wire or servo?
