    My best friend just loves his "flysky" type radio.. I think his is a Turnigy brand one..
    I've left them all for the Open Tx type now, Taranis and Jumper and have never looked back.
    He swears by them but nearly every drone comes bind and fly with frsky as an option and maybe DSMX.. so few come with flysky..
    This is a very easy menu and intuitive to follow.

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@easonliu600 if you are asking Andrew it is better to start a fresh comment. If you are asking me then the answer is that you usually power the receiver via the ESC (electronic speed controller) which manages the main battery for the motor. That generally has a circuit on board that provides the correct 5 volts for the receiver. You would have to check the specifications for your receiver to see what range of voltage it will work with but generally 5 volts with a range either side. I have run them from 3xAA batteries with no trouble but I never fly at maximum range so I don't know how much it would affect the range.

      @@GrandadIsAnOldMan i understand that the Reciever runs on the battery and the esc, but when im trying to connect the reciever to the transmitter, do i need a 5 volt battery

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@easonliu600 do you mean just for testing purposes, without the rest of the RC equipment, like the ESC and servos? If you are not connecting anything else to the receiver, then yes it would need battery power to run. If you are not going to use an ESC then you would need to read the instructions that come with the receiver and check what voltage it states it works on. Generally they run on 5 volts but my disclaimer is you need to check that for yourself. If you are using an ESC with a BEC you do not require a separate battery for the receiver. The BEC part of the ESC circuit converts whatever voltage the battery is, down to the 5 volts required for the receiver. I would recommend you watch the FliteTest beginners series, they have an excellent set of videos that cover the whole range of information to get you flying - it would also give you the general information that would apply to RC cars and boats as far as the RC gear is concerned.

    Just wanted to say Thank You for your videos. I'm a rank beginner and I recently visited a local flying club (they've got a fantastic model airfield !) and I asked about the FS-i6x (which I'd seen on TH-cam) and I was told "no no no" you must buy at least a Spektrum or Futaba, not that the Flysky isn't a capable radio but you have to be a programmer to use it". I was disappointing to say the least. The Spektrum has less channels and cost 4x the price! My only concern with the i6x was that it only had 3 mixes and I wanted to do differential thrust but after seeing your video on programing differential thrust I think I'm going to get a Flysky. I want to build a true Flying wing based on Al Bowers Prandtl wing design and although it shouldn't "need" differential thrust to overcome adverse yaw it certainly won't hurt it's performance to have it. Again Thank You for sharing your knowledge. I certainly appreciate it!

    I have the X version of this radio that I like for lots of builds, I bouce between this and a Taranis but for many things like boats and basic planes the i6x is my preferred option. Receivers are cheap, they get amazing range and some, like x6b offer basic telemetry with alarms. A great reliable budget radio.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are there more mixes available with the X or with firmware hacks?

    • @alasdair4161
      @alasdair4161 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndrewNewton It does have up to 3 mixes available with each model, and each with full offset control etc. I haven't needed to play around with the firmware but it was tempting to do the RSSI mod (sending RSSI up a spare channel for OSD) but I really don't need it for what this radio does.
      One additional thing the X has over the non X is 3 way options for all switches, and I believe they are full sweep inputs, allowing additional pots or multi way switching to be fitted in their place. I changed all four switches to 3 way early on.

    Gday from WA Andrew! Top knotch video''s mate, They are very much appreciated. I think this is the first question I've asked you. I am now into RC Sailing as as we get on, For SOME of us its time to slow down a tad. Mate, My question is, Would this Radio be suitable for say 300 meters transmission distance across the ocean water? Also, Would the stock receiver be enough, or are there any you can suggest with an external antenna? if I need to, I can extend the battery wires and tie to the back stay of the Sailboat.
    If the stock receiver is sufficient, Would the signal penetrate blow molded plastic without any problems? - Looking forward to your reply mate, Take care from WA.

You mention several times to never reverse the throttle servo. I fly glow powered planes and just wondered if this might also be true for them. I can see not reversing with an electric plane. I need help! I have a Flysky I6X transmitter to control my tracked inspection bot. But when I first switch the transmitter on, it beeps and gives me this message: "!!WARNING!! Place all switches in their up position and lower the throttle" Sometimes I just bump my left toggle switch, channel 3, and it stops the warning and gives me full control. But all too often, it doesn't matter how many switches and toggles I move around, it just keeps beeping and will not give me control. What is it doing and how do I get it to stop? I have a simple tank chassis with a light and camera gimble on it. It's not like I need a safety switch to start with. Can you help me?

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Throttle has to be full down and switches all up or back to avoid the alert

      @@AndrewNewton Yeah. I had tried all that and it seemed to make no difference what I did with the switches and throttle.
      But funny thing, now that I asked for help, it went back to working normal again. You suppose it was just embarrassed and decided to just start working again?

      Correct. BEC or the is the normal way to power the receiver and servos. Most ESCs have a built in BEC or you can use a separate BEC

    Hello again, my TX fs-i6 can not center and make my arduino drone rotate unstable.
    I tried to reset, reset factory even adjust the stick - but failed. I try to use my friend's TX and everything is okay. Do you have link to fix the fs-i6 which the stick is not center. It is yaw. Throttle, pitch and roll stick is okay. Please recommend me for better TX with the same price of fs :)
