The UMC is splinting because of many issues. The number one reason is the blatant disregard of the UMC Book of Discipline. If progressive liberals want to preach political Marxist theology, then they should have started their own 'church' instead of ignoring book of discipline that the UMC has followed since 1784. My church in Texas just voted 87% to leave the UMC and to continue on with what John Wesley started with Methodism.
Mine hasn’t and is slowing becoming another Unitarian UCC church with no standards, values, and a loosely glossy anything goes as a system of belief and no longer holds their own. Ohh how my heart yearns for real Methodism 😭
It would be helpful if the media would make an attempt to actually research and report accurately on the issues, rather than just reading from a teleprompter what is written by an equally uninformed staffer or intern. Only through the interviews is the viewer able to glean any useful information at all.
Hats off to the churches leaving the UMC. All scriptures in the New Testament have homosexuality in the negative. To preach otherwise is to ignore or rewrite scripture.
So you can you have doct that's gay, a mechanic that's gay or a waiter that's gay and that's ok with you but let them be in a church and you run off. How hypocritical and foolish
It costs my church almost a million dollars to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church! We had just paid off our mortgage and had to borrow money to get out!
Good thing they did. As predicted, the UMC went the liberal route, and subsequently shut down any further disaffiliations. That denomination is hemorrhaging members and churches. Those that stay will simply lose members and eventually go bankrupt. Expect to see a LOT of UMC church properties with for sale signs in the near future.
I know it's not Frazer because the already left because they left 2 or 3 years ago. It cost them $4 million to withdraw. That's because the UMC owns the property of the churches, the buildings, the facilities. The same thing is going to happen in the Southern Baptist Convention over the exact same issues. You preach God's word, the whole counsel of His word without apology.
As much as I like United Methodist church, I really think that they really need to rethink these issues. I think that a lot of the split is congregation driven.
They agreed to ALLOW them to leave? Really, well I am not anyone's property. Do not need to have permission from government, a religious organization, nor the pope nor any other false authority has my permission to tell me what to believe. Do not carebifbthey like it or not. Christ is my King and no other.
It’s not quite that simple, but I understand your sentiment. The ones who should discipline the churches who are not adhering to the Methodist Book of Discipline, refuse to do so. Some churches chose not to support the offending churches in any way. To stay is to support.

@@1223jamez Thanks for your comment! The Book of Mormon doesn't replace or contradict the Bible-it supports it as another witness of Jesus Christ. The warning in Revelation 22:18 refers specifically to adding to that book, not all scripture. After all, Deuteronomy 4:2 gives a similar warning, but that didn't stop God from giving more revelation afterward. God has always revealed His word through prophets (Amos 3:7), and we believe He continues to do so. The Bible itself prophesies of more scripture in Ezekiel 37:16-17 (the "stick of Judah" and "stick of Ephraim"). The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ just like the Bible does and is meant to help us grow closer to Him. John 10:16 also shows Christ had "other sheep"-the Book of Mormon reveals His ministry to people in the Americas. The Bible and the Book of Mormon together strengthen our understanding of God's plan. God’s word isn’t limited to one time or place. The heavens are still open!

If there's no mention of repentance or sin something is wrong

We attend two UMC churches one voted to go to the global the other voted and went to a traditional non denominational church.

People swear to uphold the Discipline, but turn their backs!!

And yet, they all embrace the Bible as the word of God...but yet there are so many divisions. Kind of interesting.
If ye are not one ye are not mine..... Time for the whole world to read the book of Mormon another testament of JESUS CHRIST

You really don't realize what the UMC got wring unless you truly know Jesus.

Don't you think you're quoting that a little out of context. You can't weaponize bits of scripture just for your own personal gain.
Inclusive theology? You mean stuff prohibited in scripture.
The "United" Methodist Church should let Jesus know He got it wrong.
No, the "Untied" Methodist church is in the wrong. Not Jesus.
@@pwcorgi2000 I agree. My post was intended to be obvious sarcasm. I may have failed in that regard.
Mankind is getting so conceited they think they're smarter than God.
I don't remember anywhere Jesus said anything about the subject. Perhaps you meant Paul?
@@Xezlec No, I meant Jesus. In Matthew 19, Jesus carefully and deliberately affirms that marriage is defined as one man and one woman.
