I love how Daigo hadn't used a single fireball for almost 10 full seconds before Mike landed that ultra. I love how he hadn't used one that far away for much longer. And I love how Mike used Honda's cr.HP from max range to push Daigo back as far as possible to give himself reaction room. And most of all I love how Mike has used Excellent Adventures to convince the world he's not a genius.
@TheRyanNation I dunno, it's almost like saying you're a huge Arnold Schwarzenneger fan but didn't know he was the governor of California or that you're a big Street fighter 4 fan but didn't know what Evo was, can't change that it's still contradicting.
Still a good attempt by Mike Ross. I can only imagine how bad the pressure on him was, this is a match anyone would be nervous about. Just the name Daigo itself. I'm not an uber fanboy, but you have to respect him for what he's accomplished in the gaming community. Never stop believing though :) Mike is an amazing player.
I doubt it. The damage has already been done and Mike ross has a lot of bad blood against street fighter 5 and capcom. His most recent experience was during a guilty gear match a year ago, and we don't really even hear from him since
@@miguelrobb5719 i saw a video a on youtube about why he disappeared or left. it was because of 'esports' and he basically hates it and how it changed people he knew. People who been gaming and enjoying it for years and working hard just for esports to come in and turn it into money and give those who worked hard or been doing it all their life or years basically nothing. I understand him a bit but I don't see him returning either after seeing that video. it was like from 2017 i think
@@BlazeNarutoShippuden I saw that video of him explaining his dislike for EPORTS. I also read some of his blog as well. He mentioned that he came out of his own pockets for some ideas and events for capcom, but capcom in return told him That he was a waste of time. He does have a grudge against capcom also. But he does have a valid reason as to why he dislike ESPORTS. an opportunity to make a fast dollar at the expense of long term loyal supporters. It sucks to know that, but that's business for you. At the end of the day... money talks. I personally dislike street fighter though
To the people saying Mike Ross isn't very good, I suggest you watch his documentary, "FOCUS". Hell, I'd recommend it to anyone interested, it's a damn good documentary, and shows what Mike went through leading up to this match.
@DAWMP Honda doesn't have much to stop fireballs other than focus or jumping. Headbutt, hands, butt stomp, comand throw. you have a better idea on how to get inside on a godlike Ryu with Honda?
@tuningsplxs14 my bad! a friend of mine wrote that since i had this replay up on my desktop lol been watching CEO 2011 and was brushing up on some games with mike ross in it from last year. good stuff! thx for posting. ^_^
@ryu11 mvc3 is skillful, although theres quite a few broken characters, its not like anyone can pick it up and win, it still takes practice. and ultimate is going to be a lot more fair (hopefully) since it seems like their wont be anyone in the "wolverine" tier section.
Great Honda strategy at the start of the rnd. one game one. Hovering at the perfect distance mid screen where he can neural jump safely over a fire ball barrage and be able to jump towards and punish bad fire balls. Occasionally chipping with lp to hands, focusing fire balls and building meter to make those punishes hurt more with hands into super . But the stratagy all falls apart when he couldn't give daigo reason to stay mid screen with a good keep out game. i.e. game one round two.
mike ross is playing one of the best players EVER, and people who probably couldn't beat him if he gave them a 50% lead, are calling him a fraud. gotta love haters. =)
It's not about the maneuvers. Everyone knows Ryu's arsenal, even people that have never played Ryu. It's all about gameplan versus gameplan. That's why it's difficult for people to beat Daigo, even if he uses the most studied character in the fighting game genre.
@AndreII101 Just because we cant beat mike, didn't mean he's not a fraud,he far from umehara, latif and other top players, thats what they mean when they call him a fraud, its not that we can beat him
Damn, that was brutal. When I was probably just six years old I watched a gray cat play with a mouse, batting it back and forth on the ground. This match reminded me of that.
@iShffl Can you explain to me what an "option select" is? I'm kinda new to the whole Street Fighter thing and am reading the term quite often. Would be much appreciated. :)
wasn't adam sessler just placed there because he was representing a sponsor for evo? that's what I heard and in that context I think my statement is understandable. if he's just somebody that actually was so excited that he wanted to commentate then that's a different story. I thought (and I might still be right) that adam sessler was placed there because of a sponsorship so ultradavid/james chen/skisonic had to make place for a guy that doesn't even know the game.
@slipjim He announced that he wouldn't participate in any tournaments before summer. Also there are a lot of Japanese players who are better than Momochi and Gamerbee
@asnlunatic yea dude but im not only talking about evo im also talking about online all i see is ryu and yes ryu is a broken character but doesnt mean that u cant beat him its just bullshit how much work u have to put in against the dude even if the reason y i think their were only three ryu because people has learned to adapt to ryu but it doesnt change the fact that ryu is broken i mean geez his hits seems to beats everyone and please forgive if u dont understand my writing im in a a rush
That chain of like, nine throws in a row was just mean. Mike Ross never recovered from that: for the rest of the match, you can see him flailing around trying to get a solid sequence in on Umehara, but not. . . quite. . . connecting.
@SrWilleh What does mike ross have to do with daigo ? I said I can win a round against daigo ..not mike ross .. honda is a VERY bad matchup for makoto .. lets say I play Makoto which is in the bottom of the tier lists
@QuikDJ this game is SO much harder than mortal kombat. mortal kombat is great for casual players who love blood. its a cool game buts its clearly below marvel and street fighter.
@S7R31F yeah agreed. he prob could have baited a wakeup dp and backdashed or something but thats real easy for me to say sitting at my laptop lol. Strong EVO showing by Mike Ross tho
I love Adam Sessler. He is awesome and commentary isn't noobish like Evo 2k8 brawl vids / :, if you want bad commentary that is your haven. anyway, Mike Ross is cool guy : ) Daigo is always my favorite though xDD
This perfectly illustrates why Daigo is so renowned, you can spot the moment Mike loses focus and starts to get desperate. Even up to the moment he is loses at set Daigo stays calm.
@omgimanoobtoo I didn't say that Gamerbee was Japanese, I said there are better Japanese PLAYERS than Gamerbee and Momochi. You really need to stop assuming things
@jedimodus it's a dumb figure of speech. he was referring to grabbing m. ross 3 x straight, but it's ross's fault for not teching. so why not keep grabbing him? it's just strategy.
Ryu is pretty insane in SF4. He doesn't really have any bad moves and his fireball recovery is pretty OP for a QC character. If you just objectively look at the tools each character has it's pretty obvious why this match went the way it did - especially given that both players are pros
You can't say daigo is the best player in the world atm, he's been losing alot recently there's tournaments in 2k11 that he hasn't even placed in, you could easily argue that Momochi or Gamerbee are better.
@wiseman5409 WHOAAAAAAAAA!!! E Honda does NOT have a disadvantage against "almost every" match-up! not even close dude.. wow.. he's balanced with power and hp. not to mention his mix-up margin
@RagnaDDR his job is to do what hes told and from his commentary i can assume he has no interest in this game at all. no offense to adam at all, i love xplay, i have a lot of respect for his game reviews but as far as his knowledge on street fighter goes... this was a bombshell
@wiseman5409 Maybe you should go read a tier list some time. Honda is always high tier with his only disadvantages being Ryu, Guile, Sagat, Seth, Chun Li, and Dhalsim. Hardly almost every match-up. Do you even play as Honda? Maybe you should take your own advice and learn the game a little bit better.
Mike "maybe Daigo won't dragon punch me again if I jump in THIS time" Ross!
thehenchman21 lol
I love how Daigo hadn't used a single fireball for almost 10 full seconds before Mike landed that ultra. I love how he hadn't used one that far away for much longer. And I love how Mike used Honda's cr.HP from max range to push Daigo back as far as possible to give himself reaction room.

And it's genius that he convinced people he isn't a genius... but we know better lol
2 years later, we realize daigo was not only making great reads, but also using option selects.
there's a book called Mike Ross. Daigo's read it cover to cover
Mike "my Honda is pretty good but oh man this guy Daigo is just a beast" Ross.
"Daigo is just... unrelenting on his attacks.
It's almost as if he's on a timer!"
I love you, Sess.
You can really tell this was back when they were still figuring out the game
@TheRyanNation
I dunno, it's almost like saying you're a huge Arnold Schwarzenneger fan but didn't know he was the governor of California or that you're a big Street fighter 4 fan but didn't know what Evo was, can't change that it's still contradicting.

And Daigo says..."sit down."
is that adam sessler commentating?
@S7R31F it was weird... but it can be canceled into headbutt or sumosplash, so it could have been pretty tricky / suprising
So is Mike coming back to SFV now that his main is officially announced?
I doubt it. The damage has already been done and Mike ross has a lot of bad blood against street fighter 5 and capcom. His most recent experience was during a guilty gear match a year ago, and we don't really even hear from him since

Mike Ross is a beast. But Diago is THE Beast. Both great players, and very fun to watch!
Wow did Daigo punish a whiff jab at 1:16 or was Ross just not blocking low?
Daigo's option selects are just too good.

@Skusioh umm Daigo plays other characters than Ryu or projectile characters... seen his Yun?
@Nywraper Well for one he doesn't just spam fireball and punish with a uppercut when they try to get in. Why is Daigo good.?
It's not about the maneuvers. Everyone knows Ryu's arsenal, even people that have never played Ryu. It's all about gameplan versus gameplan. That's why it's difficult for people to beat Daigo, even if he uses the most studied character in the fighting game genre.

the fact that daigo was able to use his low forward against e.honda is scary :x
adam sesler " daigo is unrelentless with his atacks, its almost like he's on a timer" yes each round is 99 seconds
@ne1gh7 e.honda is mike ross's main. im pretty sure he knows how to use other people, but his best is honda.
@iShffl Can you explain to me what an "option select" is? I'm kinda new to the whole Street Fighter thing and am reading the term quite often. Would be much appreciated. :)
Does Honda's ult 1 go through all projectiles?
@aznslikemefly he is a g4tv host and commentator
@MarciusSim He wasnt blocking Low.
wasn't adam sessler just placed there because he was representing a sponsor for evo? that's what I heard and in that context I think my statement is understandable. if he's just somebody that actually was so excited that he wanted to commentate then that's a different story. if daigo where my friend id never play
@slipjim
He announced that he wouldn't participate in any tournaments before summer.
Also there are a lot of Japanese players who are better than Momochi and Gamerbee
Mike Ross vs Daigo is hypest match.
@ne1gh7 your a "huge mike ross fan" but you didnt know he mained honda?
mike ross keep going man u can be the best
so who's winning the evo 2010?
@sohoshuffle G4 hosted the original feed on their site that's why he was on for the top 8.
Everyone knew that ultra was coming, Mike Ross does that shit for freeee.
Is that Adam Sessler commentating?
Great read on the ultra but the overhead was just weird seeing as he coul be chipped out. Amazing reads by daigo though
@asnlunatic yea dude but im not only talking about evo im also talking about online all i see is ryu and yes ryu is a broken character but doesnt mean that u cant beat him its just bullshit how much work u have to put in against the dude even if the reason y i think their were only three ryu because people has learned to adapt to ryu but it doesnt change the fact that ryu is broken i mean geez his hits seems to beats everyone and please forgive if u dont understand my writing im in a a rush
was that adam sessler's voice?lol

i like xplay and you know i listen to sessler there but it kinda sounded like he didnt know what was going on he just kinda said daigo a lot

what's a 'moran'?
Damn this years EVO should be epic. Daigo/Clakey D all the way. @DeeFlowRadio
@redpanda416 Ryu is the most exciting character in the game to watch, along with viper IMO.
@Whaaaaaaattt Because he wins?
MIKE ROSS. WE BELIEVE IN YOU
LOL at Adam in 1:39
"Annnndnndnnnn"
wow diago has amazing reactions
@sharkl11 its a figure of speech.
Seth killian has been in the business for years, so he is not a fucking idiot.
I think it's kind of cool that even pro players can get confused by throw after throw after throw.
It’s all psychological
Holy shit, amazing game by daigo, so advanced!
who the hell is adam sessler lol
every street fighter videos i go to everyone is talking about him
I love Adam Sessler.
He is awesome and commentary isn't noobish like Evo 2k8 brawl vids / :,

@unloadses It does feel that way right. The guy is cold as ice.
There is clearly a lot of things you don't know.
@aznslikemefly yes true who is he???
I love Mike Ross but he got shut down completely against The Beast. Just Daigo being Daigo

He plays Yun too.
that mike ross game, is that "famous(!)" mike ross guy ?? oh crap..
@gamerookie09 all im saying its bullshit how mike ross was having a hard time learning trying to figure out if daigo was going to grab or not.
@AlphaQSilly What makes it worst is that Dogface was next to him.
