    Pregnant OP & her brother's wedding: This puts me in mind of a Patient of mine when I was a teenage Nurse's Aide. One of my Patients was terminal, & all she wanted was to attend her 1st Granddaughter's wedding. The wedding was out of state. She was heartbroken when the Doctor told her she most likely wouldn't even live to the wedding date much less be able to fly to another state. When the family found out, guess what, my Patient's Kids & all her Grandkids flew into our state & had the pastor, at our hospital, marry the wedding couple in the visitor's solarium. Everyone was dressed in wedding garb & they even had someone come to the hospital to help my Patient get dolled up for pictures. My Patient passed away in the middle of the night, after the wedding. She got what she wanted most... to see her 1st Granddaughter get married.

    And to think that an easy solution would've been to postpone the wedding for a few months... at the very least then OP and brother's gf would be in condition to attend, and maybe even the mother might've been well enough to do so. Also, about the "busy doctors who have to be extra careful"... this suggests that this story took place when the pandemic was way worse than it is now, and if that's the case, it was absolutely not the time for a wedding.
    I can kind of understand the brother's frustration, of no one from his family being able to attend, even if they have very valid reasons to do so, but he was a total manchild about it, which is ironic considering he had the nerve to call OP a "spoiled entitled brat".
    The worst, however, was harassing his sick mother over this. What a piece of garbage.
    OP is right: he chose to burn all his bridges with his family. Now he has to live with the consequences.
    EDIT: I missed the "destination wedding" part. Okay, so maybe postponing the wedding is not such an easy solution... but now the situation is even worse: he was aware of the particular conditions of everyone in his family, and tried to get them to attend (at their own expense) anyway? Yeah, not happening.

      @hannahmabbott7370 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Wait until OP has her baby, then when they show up to see the little one. OP will tell them no since he was such a big man child about people not going to his wedding because of the reasons listed in the story. Then watch the fireworks begin.

      People who have destination weddings need to accept that they are dramatically shortening their guest list by doing so. You have every right to have the wedding you want, within your means. You have no right to commandeer other people's vacation time and funding.

I was very angry with the time (and money and gad) that I lost dealing with these scammers so my responses were generally pretty rude. I would tell them exactly what happened, if they tried to order from us again, they would be blocked and, finally, that I would just eat their undelivered pizza if they wouldn’t pay. One way or another, I got paid. These people must think that delivery people are just clueless about their stupid scams.

    1st Story: OP's entitled bratty man-child of a brother and his entitled wife rightfully got what they deserved! I mean, they had the nerve to go all bridezilla/groomzilla on OP and the rest of the family, and then they had the audacity to start acting like they're the innocent victims when OP and the family start treating them the same way. Moral of the story here: Treat people how you want to be treated.
    2nd Story: OP was definitely in the right to ignore Karen and her entitled husband. I mean, OP told them that they could seat with him at the table but they believed that they were entitled to have the table all to themselves. I'm also glad that the situation didn't escalate into something bad.
    3rd Story: That Karen basically tried to scam OP into getting free food! And if I was OP, I wouldn't have given her the food until she gave me the money first. Plus, OP was only delivering the food and he was already in a bad mood as is. But in the end, I'm so glad that OP's boss took his side in that situation and told Karen that she wasn't gonna get food from them ever again and that OP got free food after a hard day's work in the rain.
    Last Story: I'm so frickin' glad that Karen got arrested for what she did to OP. She got exactly what she rightfully deserved--and all of it was over a seat at a movie theater no less. And as a result of her entitlement, Karen not only ended up getting arrested and charged with assaulting a minor but she also got sentenced to spend 6 months in jail. And I'm pretty sure that both she and her entitled bratty sons got banned from the movie theater after that. You reap what you have sown, Karen!

    I flew when I was about 6 months pregnant and I had a hard time getting an airline to take me and this was in the late 90's. It was a family emergency and the airline said that was the only reason they were allowing it. Unless the rules have changed recently, I think your right, no flying in the last trimester.

    I wonder how "I want to talk to your manager" works out for Karen in jail. Wait, I already know. They don't care.
    Went to pick up a coworker who got thrown in jail because I was told he's getting released. Got there and was told they're having shift change and it's going to take a couple more hours. I laughed and said, "Man, this place sucks!" The woman behind the counter replied, "Yeah. It's jail." Homeboy got to walk home.

    I think the manager was right, they didn't even PAY for tickets. In the 60's, when theaters only had 1 screen, we knew that if you go to the rest room, you NEEDED your stub to be allowed back in. So any one that goes to these multiplex places should know not to discard their stubs.

    • @forcewielder2000
      @forcewielder2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, and even when I started going to movies in the '80s as a kid (I was born in 1976), I was always told by my parents not to throw out my ticket stub for any reason until we were back home afterwards, in case I ever needed to prove that at least someone had paid for me to be there (and that was back before reserved seating in movie theaters was even a thing). The saddest thing about the story is if the entitled family had simply said to the OP and his stepbrother, "Oh, you're right, so sorry!" while moving over, they might have actually gotten away with it.

    How, when, and where you throw your wedding plays a big factor in who can and can’t come. Extremely old or sick people aren’t likely to be able to travel far or be in big crowds. Pregnant people can only function at weddings earlier in their pregnancy with minimal exception and also can’t travel far near the due date. People with kids are less likely to show up to a ‘no kids’ wedding. If certain people absolutely must be there for your wedding, make sacrifices so they can come, or don’t get mad when they can’t.

      This bratty couple went out of their way to do the absolute OPPOSITE of that. They chose an expensive 'destination' location, making it IMPOSSIBLE for the budget-tight, elderly, terminally ill or very pregnant members to attend-and they get mad at these family members because they can't attend the impossible event! It's like the couple is testing the whole family's 'loyalty' to them with the mindset of 'If you don't attend our {impossible to attend} destination wedding, then you don't really love us'

    When I was a teenager Warner Village built a movie theatre in a new commercial development. Now sold to another company and rebranded. When it first opened Star Wars Special Edition was coming out so about 97/98. Well my family all went to see A New Hope and what Lucasfilm did with it and a group of 20 or so teenagers had somehow all snuck into the theatre. I still have no idea how many people were able to sneak in. Well when they were found out they caused a minor riot and destroyed the last two rows (almost ripped the metal framed seats out of the concrete floor they were bolted into) That particular screen had to be closed to two weeks to repair the damage. The group of Teenagers were in deep trouble as their parents had to pay thousands for the repairs.

    I was with a friend at a movie once, entire cinema (our movie at least) was near/as good as empty (T'was late). Suddenly someone stapped angrily to me and yelled that i should stfu and threathening us, meanwhile i just kept watching the movie eating my popcorn and thinking : It's sure hard to talk when our mouths only open for eating and drinking and not talking, because you know, we want to watch the movie, perhaps? (We where sitting at the aisle seat, middle (ish) row. So after he kept yelling entire movie and actially disturbing the movie i gave him a hard knee. He got the message and went back to his friends into the darkness. Me and my friend laughed when the movie was done and he walked like it still hurt like an hour later. He was the one (with his friends) who made lots of noise the entire time, where dirty (spilling stuff EVERYWHERE near thier seats, leaving the trash behind (even tough in my country there are ALWAYS giant bins at the exit doors (litteraly can't miss them at all) He put off his shoe's and socks and put his dirty feet onto the next seat etc.... That was my 1st encounter with a Karen. When i left the cinema with my friend, he glanced over angry, i smiled and gave him the finger. EDIT: Sorry for typo's. English is not my main language and fast typing is a gift, and a curse at the same time. Greetings everyone! EDIT : My dad is an ex paracommando, sniper and sgt. And if Karen let her kids do that to me, he would have dragged Karen out the cinema himself by her hair. Because no one assaults little kids (or let them do it (bad parenting etc...) EDIT : if she would have thrown that bottle into my eye, my dad would have given her a free facelift. That's not a threath, that's a promise. My dad is not over protective, but NO ONE gets to assault his family, especially his minor kids (if i was the minor in the story) No matter what age or gender you are, if you make him angry, you'll regret it.

If you need to use the loo or step out to your car halfway through the film, you could be denied reentry if you don’t have your stub. Lots of people also like to keep them as mementos. For instance, my husband and I went to the first showing of Detective Pikachu. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a movie on opening day. That was special and worth keeping a stub from.
