We started last April at 70 & 72! We trained for 4 months, ready to hike up snowdon in July! We can't get enough of it and boy do you need the layers of clothing now lol! The hands can suffer when up high, just by taking your gloves off for a few minutes! So, a liner under thick padded gloves helps that situation! You will love it!

Welcome Carla I’m glad you found us. Camping with the motorbike would be pretty cool especially in Scotland where you could wild camp close to the bike. Enjoy👍
When winter camping in New Hampshire I keep anything that I don’t want to freeze in my sleeping bag with me for the night. This includes my boots and water. By morning my wet socks that I threw in the bottom of the bag will be dry as well.
What stunning weather and views! Perfectly captured, as ever. I'm just back from a chilly 2 hour bike ride, so after a hot shower and wrapping up warm, watching this video was a great way to relax and recover. That "rip-stop" tarp does seem a bit suspect, but waking up to those skies in the morning 😍 Thanks for taking us all with you.
I need to get back out riding! I’m usually a keen cyclist but haven’t done much this last year. That tarp split so easily and it’s expensive from DD hammocks. 👍👍👍
I've watched several of these videos, but this is my favourite so far. The sequence from 19 mins in just beautifully expresses the magic of the mountains. I find the videos so inspiring too. I don't like camping in anything below -2C so I won't be doing anything like this soon, but the philosophy of testing and pushing your limits and seeing how you and your gear cope in tough conditions is very inspiring. I've been doing this recently on local hills (I have a lot of hillwalking and navigation experience) but I don't think me or my gear are ready for overnight bivvies in the minuses yet! But I am taking note of that bivvy set-up, maybe for doing the Mullardochs in summer, or even early spring, before the midgies arrive.
I’d prefer to battle the cold rather than midges. As long as you have gear to keep you warm enough it’s the same as any other camp really. Just extra care for safety is needed👍👍👍
Fantastic vlog, I've been wild camping with my collie, but I need to workout what bivi I can get for him. When hammock camping he has the tarp for cover but getting him,off the ground would be better. My collie is on guard all night, watching for livestock. Lol
Looks like a great adventure. - 8 C is a good temp for outside winter activity but windchill can make a big difference. I like -10 to - 15 C for XC skiing here in Canada. The wind is not much of a factor in the bush but on an exposed hilltop like yourself, it can be quite dangerous.
Awesome content again Al 👌 Blue never ceases to impress how well trained he is and obviously loves being out with you. Looking forward to the rest in 2022

Tarps are for wimps. 😉 The video was really enjoyable to watch, especially the antics of Blue in the snow. 😂 There's no way I'd have gone up there in those trainers. I always go up the mountains in my old Scarpa Manta (non-Goretex version) boots, all season. I would have put the shoes/boots inside the bivvy bag and the socks inside the sleeping bag to prevent them icing up. I've had good experiences with The North Face gear, for example my Summit Arctic down jacket that has been fantastic for the past decades of hard use. But that North Face bivvy bag... I'd have dumped it in the car park bin before driving home...together with the tarp. 😉
Frozen shoes/boots: I typically keep me boots in my sleeping bag, each in a plastic bag (dirt) and they never get frozen. Or you can put them in your sleeping bag in the morning. Also I always keep my water filter in my sleeping bag so that it never gets frozen.
Another great video..just an idea I’ve done when winter camping: put your shoes and socks in a plastic bag and put them at the bottom of your sleeping bag. Then you’ll have warm socks and shoes in the morning
That is exactly what I would have done if I had a plastic bag. I generally have two with me to put my feet in when my shoes are wet but not on this occasion😂😂😂
Big fan of your channel, I love wild camping but for a long time I got stuck in a rut of not doing anything or going anywhere………… and it’s because of this channel that I managed to turn my thinking about wild camping into actually going out wild camping again! It has done wonders for my mental health, It’s an amazing feeling being up a mountain somewhere especially in adverse weather conditions with a coffee in my hand and looking around and there’s nothing but mountains around you! That’s what I call living. If I’m camping in freezing temperatures I put my trainers in a dry bag and keep them in my sleeping bag with me to keep them warm, saves cooking them in the morning to defrost!!😂 look forward to more of your videos especially in wet/windy/stormy weather. Great video mate
great video. I little tip from being a ski instructor for a number of years, when you take your gloves off unzip your down jacket and put them inside and zip up, do what you need to do, and when you put the gloves back on they will be toasty warm :-)
@@BUSHMANandBLUE I try it in english, but my english isn't so good 🙃 It's a stunning Film and it's so nice to see how you and Blue are a unit, a great team! Especially the situation when you put his little backpack on him. How he was standing and waiting... and his look! Nice boy! I had a dog too and I took him a lot of miles with me at my hikes. I feel deep connection to you and Blue and think of my "old boy" and the great times we spent together in similar situations of hiking alone (not that cold and stormy 😉) and outdoor nights. Thanks for taking us with you both 💚
Thank you for your message 😊. I’m glad you appreciate my videos and my lovely dog. Dogs are such amazing companions and obviously leave us with brilliant memories. Take care Al
Superb. What an awesome video. The commentary, stills, video, music and time lapse is excellent. One of the best on TH-cam. Love the no bs and real presentation. Especially enjoy the Spiritual and Nature content. So much enthusiasm. Peace and happiness my friend keep up those high vibrations.
Super my friend. I've been in Himalaya at the Annapurna base camp and some other treks all over the world, but what you make with your dog is above everything that I lived. You are in total wilderness without any possible help in case you get a problem. Congratulation, but be careful and go on making us sharing all these wonderful moments.
Amazing your dog Blue! I have seen only 3 or 4 of your vids do far. I have to admit I have felt sorry for him that he might not be as into this as you. But at 5:45 or so I couldn't stop laughing that he was looking at the view then turned to look at you like "oh, so you made it". What a pair you guys!!
Just found your channel and I will be working my way through your videos, great stuff! What a brilliant way to spend a night, and the views were spectacular!! Even better that you had a little mate to share it with. Took my 15yo son out for a 10km hike today and planning more hikes and camps soon. Love getting out away from the city and enjoying the peace and solitude of nature, can't beat it for de-stressing. Thanks for taking us along...
Best bivvy camp video I have seen. I always think a bivvy and tarp a bit of food you can warm up makes the most sense as an emergency carry along kit even on a day hike in hills where weather can go bad in unexpected way or you get injured with a fall or just sprain an ankle. Nice to have the option of an unplanned camp rather than try and struggle on home in the dark.
If you would like to buy me a beer or Blue a chew it will be greatly appreciated!…

There's no way I'd have gone up there in those trainers.
Yes the Bivvy isn’t a great design although the material is top quality. I need to design my own. 👍
I've never seen such a fabulous 🐕 😊
That dog is living its best life with you camping!!!!
😬 yes he’s lucky as many dogs live a boring life indoors 👊
For me, this is the best outdoor channel on TH-cam! Brilliant!! 👌👌
Wow thank you very much! I best keep it there 😊👊
Frozen shoes/boots: I typically keep me boots in my sleeping bag, each in a plastic bag (dirt) and they never get frozen. Or you can put them in your sleeping bag in the morning. Also I always keep my water filter in my sleeping bag so that it never gets frozen.
Awesome mate. Dont think im ready for a bivy yet. Feel like im in a coffin, blue seemed to enjoy himself as always. Nice one buddy.
Lovely to see you again i love your trips
😊thanks
Nice video! 👍
I wonder how many dog owners said " big stretch" when you did. 🙂
My Whippet is just the same.
😂😂😂
If I’m camping in freezing temperatures I put my trainers in a dry bag and keep them in my sleeping bag with me to keep them warm, saves cooking them in the morning to defrost!!😂
look forward to more of your videos especially in wet/windy/stormy weather.
Great video mate
Well that’s lovely to hear and it inspires me to carry on making videos👍. Keep getting out there my friend👊
great video. I little tip from being a ski instructor for a number of years, when you take your gloves off unzip your down jacket and put them inside and zip up, do what you need to do, and when you put the gloves back on they will be toasty warm :-)
Yes definitely. I sleep with them in my bag (if they are dry)
a fantastic video mate just love them and blue is something special...look forward to your next one...atb from derek
Thanks mate 👊
Cheers Al, another great video. Keep em' coming throughout 2022 and beyond.....👏👏👏👏👏
Thumbs up. Love your dog, your sunset, and your video. Liked and subscribed.
Welcome mate! Plenty of videos to catch up on👍👍👍
Fantastic Video!!! Keep Making these good for you and Blue! Best to Ya. Viewer from Swansea, South Carolina,
Thanks I’m glad you appreciate my videos 😊
U are definitely worth watching well done blue
I don’t understand but thank you😬👊

I try it in english, but my english isn't so good 🙃
It's a stunning Film and it's so nice to see how you and Blue are a unit, a great team!
Take care
Al
Another great video and I just love blue.
Superb. What an awesome video. The commentary, stills, video, music and time lapse is excellent. One of the best on TH-cam. Love the no bs and real presentation. Especially enjoy the Spiritual and Nature content. So much enthusiasm. Peace and happiness my friend keep up those high vibrations.
Thanks mate I’m glad you appreciate it 😊
Great video👍 and one happy Dog! 👍😊🐕🐶🐶
👍👍👍
Stunning, fantastic views and bond between man and Blue amazing, good luck , health and fortune to you both, Thanks. Kind Regards Charlie
Cheers Charlie! Dogs are truly mans best friend 👍👍👍
You’re such an inspiration. So true about the dogs too they know. X
Beautiful video. Blue is just simply lovely.
It was a beautiful place to be and I’m lucky with my dog 👍👍👍
I'm in love with your dog
Fantastic video as well brilliant adventure!!
Blue reminds me so much of my faithful old collie, now sadly departed, but such a faithful friend 👍 Thanks for sharing
They are amazing members of the family and always sadly missed. I’ve always loved dogs. ☺️
Another belting video always cheer me up after a rubbish day these videos keep up the good work 👏 👍
I’m glad I’m spreading some cheer 👍👊
Super my friend. I've been in Himalaya at the Annapurna base camp and some other treks all over the world, but what you make with your dog is above everything that I lived. You are in total wilderness without any possible help in case you get a problem. Congratulation, but be careful and go on making us sharing all these wonderful moments.
Thanks mate I’m glad you appreciate it and I’m sure you have some amazing adventure memories too👊
That looks like really rocky country to hike on. And windy. And cold. You're an easy guy to listen to.
Cheers mate. I best keep talking then😂👍👍👍
Amazing your dog Blue! I have seen only 3 or 4 of your vids do far. I have to admit I have felt sorry for him that he might not be as into this as you. But at 5:45 or so I couldn't stop laughing that he was looking at the view then turned to look at you like "oh, so you made it". What a pair you guys!!
He’s a top dog! He’d hate it if I left him at home😂. I think that’s cruel and many dogs don’t get the stimulation and exercise they need.
what a naff setup on that bivvy - I'd be binning that off as a winter item!
great bit of time lapse
Yes it’s quality made but terrible design!
Welcome mate. You definitely get it! Keep getting out there 👍
Brilliant again mate, must admit I did laugh when I seen how much the tarp ripped but I knew both you and blue would be fine 👍
It woke me up as it was like a loud zip. Took about 2-3 sections too completely.
Blue is such a beautiful precious pet.
🥰 I know.
Definitely. I always carry the basics even on a hike. Thanks though mate👍👍👍
Bach ❤ Blue in his bivvy ❤...thanks for sharing another fab adventure with us! Off out to hug my favourite oak tree tomorrow - Happy New Year!
Awwwwww give it a hug from me😊
@@BUSHMANandBLUE I will 🤗
