People do not like these cars because they are inherently anti-consumer in the fact that you have very little ability to modify, or repair it outside of relying directly on the manufacturer, The parts are scarce, The resale value is hurt due to the finite lifetime of their battery packs, Especially the earlier models that suffer from poor chassis construction and paint with a shoddy formula that fades and chips.
All of that and the fact they are being shoved down peoples necks as some savior of the world while trying to suppress all of the environmental damage that comes from the resources acquisition and manufacturing.
People spout the greatness of these cars so that they can feel like they are contributing to fixing global warming despite while doing nothing about the main contributors, Power generation via fossil fuels.
That or you could be like me and just think it looks like a sport sedan that can't kick it's tasty cakes addiction and hate it for that reason.

@@scromberprofessionalautist1017 It's true that Tesla is a lot like Apple, in that they like to control access as much as possible, and control repair. I personally wish they would open things up, but I understand why they are doing things the way they are. The parts are scarce just because Tesla makes most of their own parts and they use the majority of parts in the construction of the cars. As they build more and more factories, they will be able to address parts shortages in a more timely manner.
As for them being shoved down people's "necks", that's where you go off the rails. No one is forcing Teslas on you. EVs are being promoted because they ARE *HUGE* benefits to the environment over ICE, and it's such an improvement over ICE that it's difficult to grasp. Not only does ICE pollute at the tailpipe while you're driving around, but the entire fossil fuel energy chain, from well to wheels, is massively polluting (tanker spills, rig spills, train spills, pipeline spills, etc) not to mention how polluting the refineries are.
As for how "green" the electricity grids are, they are ALL becoming greener. The ICE pipeline & usage will never get cleaner, whereas as grid power systems adopt more and more renewables, they become greener and the benefit goes automatically to the cars. Or you could power the car from solar panels on the roof of your car - good luck doing something like that with gasoline.
No, I'm afraid that the main reason why people hate EVs and Teslas is that they're ignorant trolls and hate the idea of someone else being successful.

Tesla has a mod culture and a race culture... check out Teslacorsa and Unplugged Performance. My Tesla is modded.
Teslas are absolutely able to be repaired outside of Teslas... there are several shops outside Tesla that repairs Teslas. I have repaired my own Tesla at a 3rd party shop.
Teslas resale value has been bonkers for many many years. Insanely high values and even now with price-drops, it's still above normal resale values.
Teslas does have problems and are not perfect, but it's damn good cars overall for the buck.
Electric is definitely the more enviromentally friendly option for daily drivers than gas and diesel... and most important it has the best potential to become 99% renewable.
For sport cars I sincerally hope it can survive with renewable fuels etc for the ICE-engine (will probably be hybrids because ICE has a hard time to compete with the performance of electric/hybrid.
Go try one, they are great daily drivers.

Driving mine for two months now. It's not a perfect car but I absolutely love it. I don't see it as a sports car. To me it's like a Jaguaresque sedan that just also happens to be mindblowingly fast when an M5 makes the mistake of flashing his lights behind you on the autobahn.

@@unAbated. that is absolutely true. But in an M5 or M8 (I know them both very well) ,I regularly miss power on the autobahn. When accelerating from 150 to 250 I’m literally thinking ’come on now!’ That is where the Plaid makes the difference for me. It’s not slightly faster, it’s in a completely different league. That’s why I love it. But that’s just me of course. I’m sure the M is more fun on the track. It all depends on the kind of fight you pick.

The car will allow you to go into launch control/cheetah stance no matter if you let it complete the optimization period for peek performance. So long as you’re in plaid mode and drag strip mode, it will drop into launch mode and execute even if you don’t wait for peek performance.
