    Cannot believe the lack of TH-cam reviews on this awesome watch, glad someone has finally done it some justice (good camera work too). This one is def on my bucket list, might consider the S with the brown hide strap. Thanks for the review!

    I've had a 556a for about a year now, and love it to death. I JUST hit purchase on a used 856 UTC, so of course I'm watching reviews of it even after I bought it. A true madness this hobby. I travel internationally a lot, and a compact GMT of sinn's quality couldn't be more perfect.

      @@BobbyLegs Having had both for about a week now, they definitely wear small for their measurement (which I love). The 856 is out of this world good.

    I’ve owned my Sinn 856 S UTC for 2 years. It really is a fantastic travel watch and a great alternative to the usual GMTs. Also have a Sinn 103 sa BE - another great watch I have in the collection.

    I wish they’d do this tech on the 556 size. This looks a bit big on your wrist. I think there will be a trend back to smaller watches that fit wrist sizes better and fit under cuffs.

      @@BobbyLegs true but lacks the classy minimalism of the 556 and 856.

  • @RagnarHoff
    @RagnarHoff ปีที่แล้ว

    For the price, it's one of, if not the most capable explorer watch on the market at this price. The tech they implement into it makes you comfortable using it around electronics and freezing cold. This and Ezm 13.1 could very well become my only 2 watches i settle with long-term. I prefer watches built for a purpose.

    Hey man, do you think this is a worthy upgrade over the 556 if you're not taking into account the utc complication? I think I won't use it a lot. Do you feel like it decreases readability?

    • @BobbyLegs
      @BobbyLegs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a matter of taste. I just unboxed a 556 and will be doing a review shortly. I prefer the size of the 856. I also like the tech that it comes with. Finally, for me, the utc complication didn’t not affect readability. There is a non utc 856 you may want to consider.

    I am the viewer who gave your review a thumbs down. You gave absolutely NO evidence to support your main thesis of this watch being, "The Best Travel Watch" (it is NOT by the way, but more on that later). Christ, I sound like everyone of my old English teachers. You could have shown the viewers how to set all the hands, like a video instructional manual, highlighting how the 24 hour hand helps you in a travel situation. Ok, here is why it is not a Best travel watch: no watch that requires its owner to STOP the movement in order to set the MAIN hour & minute hands to your local time can be considered a "Travel Watch". Those are considered GMT watches or something like that.
    I did like your video, and the watch, and you bring up some valuable information concerning it. So, nice job. Please consider my comments in the vein I gave them, as constructive criticism.

    • @BobbyLegs
      @BobbyLegs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Amy for the feedback. I believe I mention that the watch was a great travel watch because it’s under the radar sort of speak and doesn’t attract much attention. I also mention the great tech that comes with the watch including the anti magnetic features. I apologize for not wrapping it up in the end more concisely. I also apologize for not showing how the utc function works. I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks again and feedback is always appreciated.

    • @BobbyLegs
      @BobbyLegs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I will also put out a short video in the next few hours to show how to set the UTC. I will link it to the description of this video. Perhaps a little too late but a big oversight by me nonetheless,

    I've been wearing a 556 with bracelet for a few years. Sinns are truly bulletproof. I wear it during yard work, car repairs, weather, anything really. Barely scuffed up all all thanks to the brushed finish.

    This watch is wonderful. Definitely on my radar for next watch purchase. Had a little chuckle when you said "over-engineered can't be a bad thing" when I thought about the reliability of german cars I've owned haha. Hoping German watches are a different story though!

    Nice review. I put it on my list. 👍
    This is gonna be my next Dual timer/UTC/GMT travel watch for sure.😎
    I might go for a work-around here by choosing a leather strap with the butterfly clasp which looks better in quality than the one on the bracelet.

    Not a good review. For heaven's sake, you don't even operate the watch. One key thing that prospective buyers should know is that the 856 UTC is _not_ a true GMT watch, with an independently movable/jumping hour hand. Obviously that's because the movement isn't capable of it, but at any rate it's nothing more than an "office" GMT allowing you to follow what's going on in other time zones. I do like Sinn watches and I own an 856i, but they hugely missed the mark on this one. Cheap Chinese homage GMTs are "office" type; any halfway serious pilot's watch is going to be a true GMT. Seiko, Mido, heck even Citizen found a way to do it. "Standard" gmt are modified 3 hand movements, and "true" are made as gmt from the start ... which kind of points to the one thing about Sinn that is pretty lame: they don't do movements.
